Do you change out some of your wardrobe spring and fall? Living in a 4-season climate, I’ve been doing this my entire life. I have 2 plastic bins of off-season clothes that I keep in the attic, and twice a year I go through and decide which things to keep and which I haven’t worn in a while and I give them away. My friend told me she never does this - just keeps everything in her drawers and closets and gets rid of things now and then. I guess I thought most people did what I do…

I have never changed out clothes. Maybe I don't have that many. lol Being chubby, I never wore skimpy summer clothes to stay cool, I just stayed in under the AC, so I didn't have many summer type clothes.

I shift things around in my closet so the current season is more at hand. There are a few items that go in 2 plastic bins in the off season. My swimsuits stay in those bins all year as I only pull them out for vacation.

Yes I do - sort of. Jeans and core stuff doesn’t change but I swap t-shirts, lightweight tops, sun dresses and so on over to cardigans, sweatshirts, jumpers in my main wardrobe Out of season stuff goes in the spare room wardrobe.

We have a very small closet so I definitely switch out my clothes. Fall/winter clothes are so bulky!

I have everything in my closet, and it fits fine. I just cull it out regularly. I have long sleeves and sweaters on one rod, and then short sleeves and tanks on a second rod. Pants and shorts are in the dresser. Dresses and skirts on their own rod. If I had less closet space, I’d probably switch things out.

Basically I put away my sweaters for nine months of the year and pull them out for the three months it may be possible to wear them. I also change out my workout clothes.

No. I am not much of a clothing person so I just have the basics and wear much the same thing year around. I just add a few shorts in the summer and heavier vests and long sleeve tee-shirts in the winter and more socks. But all of it stays out all year around.

I do. I put away my tops and dresses that have a summery/floral pattern and pants that are summer colors. I do all of this despite the fact that the weather is nowhere near fall-like here. I keep it all stored in the vacuum sealed bags under the bed.
I keep cardigans out year round though. I have to dress for winter year round at my office.

I do that except I use a closet in a spare bedroom for my off season clothes and shoes. I guess technically Georgia has 4 seasons, but I really just think of them as hot season and not hot season- lol. I probably won't swap closets until mid-October at the earliest.
I do have t-shirts and cardigans that live in my main closet all year though. I wear cardigans at work most of the year because it's cold in the building and I'll wear t-shirts to workout in since I workout at home and don't need to dress for the weather.

Mine just stays put. I wear 3/4 sleeves year-round, topping them with a sweater/hoodie/jacket when it gets very cold.
I have a friend who has a storage unit for her clothes*, so she does a massive switch twice a year. October heat waves and April snows cause her big headaches! LOL
My wardrobe is not at all extensive. I count it as a win if I don't repeat an outfit in the same week.
*Before you judge, please know that she lives in a studio apartment that was once a hotel room, so there is really no extra storage! She's been there for decades; it's in a sought-after neighborhood, and she has a high-powered job.

We have a lake cabin where we live all summer, so almost all of my summery clothes stay there. I move things around in my closet during the other seasons. I aspire to organize my clothes like you do.

I have two closets in my bedroom. The big walk-in closet holds my jeans and long sleeve shirts. The smaller closet in the bedroom holds my t-shirts and I put my shorts in a dresser.
Being in DFW, it won't be time for long sleeves until November so I'm still using my little closet.

I've always had smaller closets so I change out every spring and fall. I kind of like it that way. It gives me a chance twice a year to purge and add in new things.

Nope. We’re actually still almost breaking record heat here, and usually only have 2(ish) seasons. I have all of my clothes out year round because you never know what you’ll need from one day to the next.

I have a small 3 bedroom house. Since I live alone, all 3 closets, although small, are mine. I do hang most of my clothes. Pajamas and underwear go into dressers. The closets are somewhat organized into seasons.

Yes, I’ve done this the last 10-15 years. I have a lot that is both seasons - but the light linen and very summer clothes get put away and vice versa for winter clothes.

When we lived in a big house, with a primary closet that could have been a nursery if need be, I kept all of my clothes out. I just shifted the off-season clothes to the rack on the right side and kept the seasonal clothes front and center.
Now we live in a smaller, older house with small closets. After a considerable downsize in the wardrobe department, I do pull sweaters, anything wool, and long sleeve tops out and store them in the draws beneath our bed. Visa versa for spring.

No, never switched my clothes around. Just the closet of coats, boots, shoes, toques, scarves. I'll often wear pants, long sleeves, a sweater, need a different kind of sweater like coat in the summmer so I wouldn't switch it up. Sometimes you need all the things in one day yesterday morning was +5C/41F and the afternoon was +26C/79F. And I just have a small double doored closet.

Just did my semi-annual swapping of the wardrobe this past Sunday! We have a wall of built-in wardrobes in our bedroom with hanging compartments and drawers beneath those. Out of season clothes stay in one of those drawers. We each have 2 drawers & 1 hanging compartment that are cedar lined, so my wool sweaters are always in that drawer. What few party clothes I own hang in the guest room closet. I use the swap as chance to try on things, check for things that need repairs and/or cleaning, get rid of things that no longer work or I don't like. This year, because I've lost a lot of weight, I tried on everything and kept very little. Now I am busy shopping for new clothes. I also swap out all my shoes at the same time, tossing worn out or out of style shoes. Yes! I do the same with putting away summer prints/colors. By at least changing the prints and colors to more fall/winter it gives me some pretense of having a Fall season! Cotton cardigans are out all year and the wool ones are in the cedar lined drawer for easy access. Those are worn all year due to the a/c.

I'm lucky enough that we have enough dresser, wardrobe & closet space that I can segregate within those and not have to pack any season away. You can defiantly see the segregation though if you were to go through my drawers/closet.
sweaters are all rolled and stored vertically in two baskets in the upper shelf of our wardrobe. Shorts and swim suits are rolled and occupy one of the wardrobe drawers. DH has the other two drawers for his golf short and "good" jeans. The lower shelf of the wardrobe is for all of our DVD's (which we never watch). Closet I have three sections - dresses and blazers/jackets hand in one that is a single rod so they can hang to the floor if needed. The other section is a double rod so all tanks and blouses (and some colored dress jeans that I currently cannot fit into and may end up in a bin somewhere soon) are on the top rod. The lower rod is my long sleeved to short sleeved casual tops/tshirts. Above the dress/jacket section is also a shelf with a large basket that I have all of my cardigans rolled and stored in. I store them vertically in the basket so they are all easy to see when I pull down the basket. In our dresser we each have 5 large drawers. My top drawer is all of my underwear & socks (my bras all hang from hooks on the wall in my closet as they take up way too much drawer space). Second drawer are all of my casual graphic type tshirts (all rolled Maria Kondo style) and I rarely wear any of them. The next two drawers are my denim jeans and capris. The bottom drawer is pj's, loungewear, yoga pants etc.

I've never done this. Everything stays in my dresser and closet and periodically I go through it and get rid of things.

No, never did that, even when living in an apartment with a small closet. Out here, except for about two months in the summer, most of my clothes can be worn year-round. Between now and the end of the year, our temperature can still fluctuate between cool and hot.
I have a friend that changes out her wardrobe. She just posted a photo of her closet set up for fall/winter. Umm … We may go back up to the low 80’s next week. 😆

No, because then I end up needing something warm in the middle of summer, or it's 80 degrees randomly that one day in February. PNW life...

I grew up doing that but after 25 years in Florida and a previous 4 in AZ...no, I don't anymore. I don't have a ton of clothes - they easily fit in my side of the closet and my dresser - and I just keep my cold-weather clothes in the back corner of the closet for when I go trips or the rare cold day here.

I feel like back in the day, people did that because houses were so small, with little closet space. Now, most people have a decent amoint of space in closets

Every year. I keep the out of season clothes hanging in the closet of the guestroom, in a large bench and a bin.

I have to share my closet (which is a decent size but not huge) with my husband and there just isn't room for everything in there, so yes, I rotate.

Everything is in my closet year round. I hang everything except socks and underwear.
In the cooler or cold temperatures: I switch from capri length to long length. I layer over sleeveless or short sleeves. I start wearing a cardigan (although I usually remove it when indoors, thanks to menopause....I'm lukewarm to warm most of the time). I occasionally wear a coat. I wear closed shoes and ankle boots.
In the next week or two, I will be doing some extra loads of laundry to freshen up some of my clothes, that have hung there unworn for a while.

I have my own walk-in closet so everything I own fits inside. Several times a year I do a good purge.
