I did not watch Friends and so was not part of the craze when it aired. I think I tried to watch it and didn't like it. I'm now almost 69 and am wondering if I would like it now. Should I just start with season one or should I start a little later than that? Any hints for trying to like it? TIA.

I’ve never watched a full episode. Why would you want to start watching it now? FTR, I’m 66.

You're not alone. I've seen a few episodes because someone else had it on but never felt the need to go beyond that.

I've seen bits of it because the kids liked it when they were teens. I never caught the fever.

One of the women at work has just started watching. She is in her 60's. Her husband works away so she is always looking for something new to watch. She's loving it. Give it a go. If you don't like it you can stop. I love Friends myself. I'm mid 50's. My kids - 19 and 21 - love it also.

I'm 56 and Friends is one of the few sit-coms that I enjoy ... the writing is smart and the acting is excellent ... I say start from the beginning and give it a chance ... it gets better as the years go on.

I watched a couple of episodes when it started and quickly gave up. Over the years I've probably watched a handful more, but it never grabbed me.
At almost 70 I doubt it would appeal to you..it's all about young, dumb people dating.

It's probably more relevant and funny to those of us who were roughly the age of the "Friends" when it aired.

I'm 49 and it's my go to show if there's nothing else one. I really enjoy it.
I also like "Mom".
I never got into "How I Met Your Mother" but know people who totally love it.

I'm 59 and I've only seen bits and pieces of episodes. I may have seen a handful of full episodes when I was visiting friends (pardon the pun), but it's not something I ever watched. I do know all of the actors and characters through just to general pop culture knowledge. I'm not really a sitcom fan either though, so I haven't seen most shows everyone else really seem to love. The only semi-recent sitcom I've watched is Big Bang Theory and I never watched it 100% faithfully.

I watched it when it first came out, but only watched a few episodes. I was a huge Seinfeld fan, and thought that Friends was inferior. I started watching it a few years later and really enjoyed it. I have re-watched it multiple times. My now-25yo DD and her friends started watching it when they were about 14yo, and they all loved it.
I can't imagine watching it for the first time now as a 60 or 70yo. Part of the appeal to me when I re-watch it now, is the nostalgia. If you didn't like it when it was first on, I can't imagine that you will like it now, thirty years later.

Well, it doesnt hurt you to try watching it, so give it a shot! I feel like you need to start at the beginning, but as with most shows, it gets better after that. We coukd never get into The Office until our niece told us that we just had to push through the first season. She was right!

I've never watched "Friends". Or "Seinfeld". Or any other popular comedy because I don't like comedies. Well, except for the ones from back in the Days of the Dinosaur...i.e., Carol Burnett, and I Love Lucy are two that come to mind from that era.
I wouldn't bother "trying to like it"... I mean, there are SO many other shows to watch these days with all the various streaming services we have access to. \

72 here and I just this past year, have been watching Friends on MAX. I never watched it before at all. I’ve listened to Matthew Perry’s book on audible many times. Seemed kind of silly for me to not have even seen any of Friends. I’m really enjoying watching it. The writing is excellent. I’m either laughing out loud or crying from a touching moment. I recommend that you check it out.

I was around the right age when the show aired (I was 22 and in grad school when it premiered). I didn't get that into it, but as someone who lived in Manhattan for most of my 20s, the absurdity of it was the one thing I found really funny.
I went and re-watched a few episodes the day after Matthew Perry died. Still not that funny to me, still absurd, but I do think the actors are charming.

I'm 59 and binged it recently after watching it occasionally when it was on network TV and I loved it. Thought it was hilarious.

Neither did I. I was a young teenager when it aired originally and it just never appealed to me. As the years have gone it seems to have gotten even more popular but I still am just not interested in it.

I was in my 20s when it started and I watched them all. I was a fan. I don't really like to watch re-runs for the most part but if it's on I'll usually get caught up watching it.

What do you have to loose? If you don't like it, stop watching it. You might find it funnier now. I would start with season 1 and go from there. While I do love Friends and watch it almost nightly, the middle seasons and towards the end are my favorite. I would say the first season is good but I think it gets better as it goes on.

I watched some episodes back in the day, but not religiously. I read Matthew Perry's bio this spring and decided to watch some episodes after he said things like "In season 4 you can tell I was using". Just being a looky-loo. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the first few episodes. I thought they were really funny, and I've never been a big sit-com watcher.

Never watched. I think we tried it for about half an episode back when it was so popular. It didn't "speak" to us, so that was the end of that.

I just turned 53 and I watched it quite a bit but not every week. I loved it a lot. Every time I thought they'd done something that would make me cut the cord I found a reason to keep watching. For example, Chandler & Monica happened at the right time for me.
I still love the finale & I still cry at a certain R&R moment.
