***I ordered some extra large storage bags (pack of 4) from Amazon. What a game changer! I switched out Fall for Christmas and tossed a few that I no longer care to keep. I was able to fit what I have left into 2 of the bags. They take up so much less space than the totes I had been using.
I have some in a couple big storage totes and some others in a black garbage bag. I have pared them down, but I still have plenty and they feel so bulky to store.

I put them in garbage bags. Seems easiest to me. They are squishable and can go wherever. I have some in totes. But that is a lot of space for maybe 3 pillows. The bags are my go to now. I just write on the outside of the bag with a sharpie so I grab the right seasonal bag.

I squish them into the closet in the room where they go.

I purchased several large clear zipper bags that I used to transport my clothes, still on their hangers, and all the bedding, pillows, blankets, and towels when I moved. I used to have two sets of couches and chairs when I had both a living room and family room so I have more pillows than I need now that I am down to one living room. I still really like them so my plan is to change them out very 6 months or so, putting the extra in the zippered bag and then hanging it in the garage by its handle from a hook in the ceiling. Since they are light weight, I don’t think it will hurt the handles at all. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YYVZNCS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're in the totes with the rest of the holiday decor.

Mine are in black trash bags, but in another thread crazy4scraps made a wonderful suggestion that I can’t wait to implement. Just keep forgetting to get DH measure the ceiling shelf height where it will be stored. But my issue will be resolved this holiday season! eta: This is the tree bag I’m hoping will fit on the shelf.

I put them in plastic storage bins and keep them up in the attic when I’m not using them.

I pull them off of the insert and store the pillow “case” in the holiday tote. I’ve never had the space to store a dozen off season pillows, so that was my solution.

The few, 1-2 pillows (Halloween and Xmas) I have are stored with the rest of my holidays items in the plastic storage tote or an XXL zip bag. I have mostly transitioned to seasonal (not holiday) zipper pillow covers. Those are all stored together in a cabinet. I don't have a lot.

In large Ziploc (or was it Hefty?) storage zip totes. I used to really love holiday pillows, but I think I'm over them. I *only* bought one new pillow for Halloween this year, none for fall, and one for Christmas so far. I have other Christmas pillows already but thinking of donating or giving to a family member to enjoy.

I don't have room to store holiday type pillows, so I don't have any.

Maybe one of those bags that you use a vacuum hose to suck out the air would work so they'd lay flat til you open it back up?
I only have a few between all the holidays so they get shoved into closets, bins, anywhere really. I think there's an easter bunny pillow still shoved into the ottoman I keep blankets in lol

The ones I have I put in bins with the rest of the holiday decorations. What I have started doing is buying pillow covers and I stuff them with pillow cases or even clothing I’m not wearing.
I just don’t have room to store pillow inserts and I don’t like spending money on them either.

Lexica I love that idea. I've added a set to my Amazon cart. Currently I have my seasonal pillows in totes and trash bags. The seasonal pillows on my front porch chairs get stored in a cabinet in the garage.

Lexica I love that idea. I've added a set to my Amazon cart. Currently I have my seasonal pillows in totes and trash bags. The seasonal pillows on my front porch chairs get stored in a cabinet in the garage. I’m glad you think they will work for you too! They are really nice quality. Depending on how many things that I end up keeping now that I have downsized the house, I am thinking the best plan of attack may be to just hang a thick wooden dowel or broom handle from hooks in the ceiling off to the side of the garage and out of the way. Then I can just hook the bag handles with a large “s” hook onto the wooden rod. That will be easier than installing multiple hooks, one per bag. I have several throw blankets that are in perfect condition that were from the family room that I will probably keep for now. And since I already have the wonderful clear bags, I may as well use them, right? I know some of them will end up in the attic with holiday decorations that I have and used to keep in a garage cabinet inside of a big trash bag at my old house. This house has a full attic that runs over the entire house and the 3-car garage with two of those drop down ladders, one in the house and one in the garage. My son is concerned about me climbing up into the attic and hauling anything for fear of me falling so I will probably devise some sort of pulley system that I can use to attach to the beams in the attic and then just use that to raise and lower the clear bags up and down. I have sketched what I think will work and will determine if it is a feasible option. I will probably hire the local handyman to install it inside the attic. Then it will just be a matter of raising a bag and climbing the ladder stairs to unhook it and stand it off to the side within reach of the ladder so that I’m not actually leaving the ladder and climbing into the attic. My old house had these wonderful cabinets that we installed all around the entire garage, giving us terrific storage. They were attached to the ceiling and walls and went to within 12 inches of the floor, giving me room to sweep the whole garage floor and keep anything really heavy in a bin slid under a cabinet. I won’t be adding any custom cupboards at this house and while it does have some, there are not as many as I had before. And since I will be getting rid of probably half of my things, I won’t need all those cabinets. But I do want to keep some of the pillows and throw blankets, hence the idea of suspending from the ceiling to keep them up and out of my way.

I went ahead and ordered some more from Amazon. These should store what needs storing while not being as big and bulky as the totes I've been using.

I only keep covers and reuse my feather inserts year around. I store the covers on hangers in my spare bedroom closet.

I keep those big heavy-duty plastic zippered bags that comforters come in and store 2-3 pillows in each one. The guestroom bed is very high so the bags/pillows are stored under there when not in use.

I only buy covers so storing them is easy. Same for me......I purchased pillow inserts and just use covers. I have a set of fall and Christmas covers for all of the pillows. I keep the fall ones in the fall decor tote and the Christmas with the Christmas decor. I have several sets of standard ones that I change out from January to fall depending on my mood at the time. I keep these in a tote with other standard decor that I also change out depending on my mood. I like the Utopia brand from Amazon the best.

I have a small linen closet that I only need one shelf in for extra bedding. The pillows go on the other 5 shelves.

I'm feeling lame, I didn't even know I'm supposed to change out pillows for the holidays. I know I see the holiday throw pillows, I just didn't really think people in real life did that. I thought of it as a fancy mazagine layout kind of thing. I only have 2 pillows on my couch, but I think I will up my lame game and look for covers for them.

Glad you found something that works for you! malibou Only buy them if you love them and you get lots of enjoyment from them, otherwise you’re just buying something you need to store and maintain. Buying covers is definitely the way to go if you can. Unfortunately, a lot of the pillows I fell in love with weren’t covers.

Thank you dewryce. You are absolutely correct. I likely would have compromised and now I will be more deliberate, and hence happier. I may even make ones if I don't find what I want.
