One question for Stanley people, do you throw yours in the dishwasher? When I bought my Hydroflask a few years ago, they did not recommend the dishwasher. They said to hand wash. I’ve seen newer HydroFlasks and I guess you can put them in the dishwasher now, although they still recommend hand washing. I would love to throw mine in the dishwasher. I do. I put the lid in too (on the top rack). The only thing not dishwasher safe is the straw (ask me how I know).

Due to my job search I'm spending more time on LinkedIn than I used to. Someone just posted an article on how Stanley only used to market to men, saw an uptick in the number of women who were interested in the cup and instead of brushing it off and being content with sales as they were they embraced the opportunity to serve a new market. Started creating cups in a more pastel palette, partnered with "influencers" and companies like Starbucks and are basically riding the wave all the way to the bank. They've increased their sales by the billion all while still making the same quality product they always have. This is the Stanley I think of. www.amazon.com/Stanley-Classic-Vacuum-Bottle-Hammertone/dp/B000FZX93K?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A19JHPZ9Z2DWEPI’m pretty sure this is the one my husband has it’s at least 25 years old. I forgot r got about it until clicking on the link.

Have you seen all the videos of women lining up and fighting for the Valentines ones that just dropped at Target? They sold out company wide in 4 minutes 😳 It’s just the trendy brand. Like Lululemon. Once you try one with a bangle you won’t go back to the ones without though. a bangle? like a member of the 80's pop group or like a bracelet? or autocorrect for handle?

I meant handle…wonder what I typed to get that autocorrect?

I watched a video of a guy testing the Ozark Trail, RTic, Stanley, and Yeti, and surprisingly, the Ozark Trail one performed the best.
I am an Rtic person myself (they're local). I've had them for years and they still look the same. I have a pretty long walk from my parking garage to my office, so it's important for me to have a cup that can fit in the outside pocket of my backpack and not leak. Both my Rtic water bottles and tumblers work for that.

Good gracious, the hype is crazy. I feel like I now need to guard my $35 cup. I have seen it for $115 and other crazy prices. This is the Stanley Ice Flow I have. Very different from the other Stanley's (which I don't own).

DH got me a set of Thermoflasks for Christmas, and one is pink. They have a handle on the lid, and will probably fit in my cupholder (I have one that adjusts depending on what you put in it.) I don't think I would like to carry it with me when I go on walks though, it is kind of heavy when it's full. I'll have to tell DH he got the wrong brand, and I'm not trendy with the wrong kind of thermos

All 3 parts go in the dishwasher--the lid, plastic straw, and cup itself. I just use my bottle brush for flip part of the straw and the straw itself before I put them all in the dishwasher. LOVE the Ice Flow!

I love your pink Ice Flow! Great color! My Hydroflask has that type of handle, so if I get a Stanley, I want to get the other handle just to have something different.

The Hydroflow cups are very inexpensive at our local Boscov’s. www.boscovs.com/product/40oz-insulated-stainless-steel-tumbler-with-handle/727528I have the 30-oz tumbler that I got for only $10, and I love it! I fill it halfway with ice in the morning, and I can fill it with liquid a few times throughout the day and still have ice. I have forgotten it on my desk a time or two and found it still had ice the next day. I won’t be tempted by the Stanley cups because the Hydroflow does all I need it to do. ETA: I can’t get the link to go directly to the product listing, but you can search for “insulated stainless steel tumbler@ to find them. They don’t include the brand name in the product description for some reason. The 40-oz with a handle is only $14.99.

Because I apparently live under a rock, I had not even heard of Stanley cups. However, a niece bought me(and her mom) one for Christmas. It seems nice, but is very big-40 ounces. So I don’t know how much I will use it. I have several others that I like that are not quite as huge.

The people I know who like them like that they have a handle and can fit in their cup holder. The handle is what makes me interested in them. That would be easier to carry around. For those that already have Yeti’s they love, Yeti sells handles separately for at least one of their sizes, I think mine is a 32oz that fits in cup holders, I’ll go verify. It’s the 32 oz Rambler. They have a 10 and 20 oz handle as well. My MIL got me another brand of these types of mugs for Christmas. It’s HUGE. Too big for most days, but will be great when I’m camping and want more ice at once. I don’t understand why though, she got me the rambler years ago and it’s still going strong. I purchased and additional lid so those can dry after being washed. But I definitely didn’t need another cup. We have 3 and the only reason a third one is ever in use is when we are too lazy to take the 60 seconds it takes to wash out our Ramblers!

A coworker was given a Stanley for her birthday in 2022, I think, That’s where I was introduced to them. Have zero interest in them.
I like the Tervis for the designs. I use the Yeti because it can go in the dishwasher. No handle for me.
DH bought a Yeti with the built in handle. He is quite unhappy with the new lid.

I had never heard of Owala bottles until I saw them mentioned in this thread. I decided to try one and I love it! I got a new car almost 10 months ago, and I love everything about it except the cup holders. They are terrible! The Owala bottle fits perfectly and I love the straw feature because my car’s roof is pretty low and if I have to tip a bottle up to drink, the bottle often hits my roof. I’m also not a fan of exposed straws, so the Owala lid is perfect for me. My 10 month search for a travel mug that works in my car is finally over!

I used my daughter’s great big Stanley when I used her Peloton bike - it fits perfectly into the handlebars. If I ever get a Peloton I will probably get a knock off for that reason only. I have Swell water bottles that are pretty, keep drinks cold all day, and fit into backpacks. You can also pour a full bottle of wine into one (25 ounce).

Brümate has all that Stanley does but with completely leakproof cups (including their new Era cup that has a straw!) I’ll stick to my Brumates.

I honestly don’t get the hype. It wouldn’t have even been on my radar except my 8th grader mentioned that all the “pick me’s in their $100 Lululemon leggings have them.” She’s perfectly happy with her $10 Contigo water bottle and I’m perfectly happy with my Cookie Monster Tervis tumbler. I bought a two pack of the 24 ounce Thermoflasks when Costco had them on sale for $17 to replace two other Contigo water bottles that had broken lids, and even those are pretty heavy when they’re full. I can’t imagine wanting to drag around a 40 ounce metal travel mug all day!

I saw a tiktok of a mom who had bought her DD (8) a cute mug that was pink with leopard print, but when she took it to school, her classmates bullied her because it wasn't a Stanley, so they went to Ace Hardware and got her a Stanley because they could. She acknowledged that she shouldn't have to, but in order to smooth her DD's way in school, she was absolutely going to do that.
It makes me worry for my grandkids who will be coming up in this culture and how social media has created a monster in terms of 'must have' brands to be socially acceptable. Meanwhile, I'm over here with my old Ozark travel coffee mug and Hydroflask water bottle that's years old.

I don’t think that happens everywhere. Back in the day, I was teased to high heaven for not having the right clothes or shoes when I attended a private grade school. But when I switched to public school in 8th grade (which was in a much wealthier neighborhood, BTW) there was literally none of that going on. My no name brand self was accepted from day one. My kid hasn’t ever said anything about kids getting teased for not having this or that and there are kids in her school from a wide range of family means. I will say though that around this time of year it kind of horrifies me to see the mountain of North Face, Under Armor, Nike and other big name brands in the lost and found at her school that ends up getting donated because none of the kids bother to dig through the pile to find their lost stuff.

This might be the story, but the girl is 9, not 8. I think it is sad that 9-year olds (or any age) are bullied over something like this. www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/mom-message-fellow-parents-daughter-181742575.html
