DH has a friend who has several local ice cream parlors. They make their own ice creams and he is looking for fresh flavor ideas.
What suggestions would you have for unique ice cream flavor combos? Is there something you love that you could see transformed into an ice cream flavor?

Cranberry. I was at a cranberry museum a few years ago, excited to try cranberry ice cream, and they didn't have any the day I was there... I might have to make my own.

My fave flavor is Chocolate Cherry Garcia from Ben n Jerry’s. They don’t make it anymore. 🤬🤬🤬
It was chocolate ice cream with cherries and slivers of chocolate. YUM…

Lemon, not sherbet, but ice cream. My dad use to buy it when we were kids. It was so smooth and creamy and fresh.
Cherry Vanilla made with Bing or Rainer cherries.
I worked in an ice cream shop as a teen. It was a local ran by an elderly gentelman. He would make his own ice cream and if you were there at the time, he would encourage you to get a cup of whatever you wanted. Mine was always peppermint and then I would go and put a nice helping of hot fudge on it. Heaven. So maybe peppermint with some type of milk chocolate going in like swirles or chuncks.

Ben & Jerry’s had one with marscapone cheese that I can’t find anymore. It was cannoli flavored, which we loved. Favorite ice cream ever. But the real kicker was the addition of the marscapone cheese in it, I’m not aware of having it in any other ice creams and it was amazing. Of course I always encourage the addition of chocolate. But honestly? I’d buy a simple good vanilla bean with marscapone cheese by the bucketload.
Have him check out desserts he already loves to break down for good flavor combos.

I loved an Oatmeal Cookie ice cream from a now-closed shop. No raisins, just an oatmeal and cinnamon flavor.

My favorite flavor is caramel. Most ice creams don't have enough of it in the ice cream. I'd love to see ribbons of caramel with also hard toffee pieces and maybe a ribbon of thick fudge. I know it isn't a new flavor, but it would be delicious if there was a mixture of caramel add-ins in the ice cream.

I see chocolate orange in many ice cream parlours but very rarely chocolate lemon or chocolate lime, both of which are delicious. Biscoff and white chocolate. Cherry with chocolate and cherry cracknel. St Clements cheesecake (orange and lemon). White chocolate with coconut and Amaretto. Pink lemonade sorbet. Lemon ice cream with raspberry coulis.

There’s a line of ice cream shops, Murphy’s, in Ireland that have excellent local whiskies and gins in their mix. DH’s favorite was Dingle gin and they publish the recipe.
Dingle Gin Ice Cream Ingredients
- 1 Cardamon pod - 15 Juniper berries - Lemon and orange zest to taste - 130g Sugar - 4 Egg yolks - 240ml Cream - 200ml Milk - 60ml Dingle Gin
Method 1. Add the Cardamon, Juniper, Lemon and orange zest to the gin and allow to sit for at least 4 hours. 2. Beat the Sugar and Egg Yolks together until thick and pale yellow. 3. Bring milk to a low simmer 4. Slowly add the milk to the egg/sugar mixture with the mixer running. 5. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and cook, stirring continuously, on low heat until it reaches 65 C. It should coat the back of a spoon. 6. Refrigerate until cold 7. Remove from the fridge pour into an ice cream maker with the cream. 8. Add the gin after about 20 minutes 9. Continue to freeze until the consistency reaches that of soft ice cream 10. Transfer to a container and put in the freezer until hard

Raspberry chocolate is always a great combo. What about a peach, plum favor? YESSSSS! Dark chocolate raspberry or white chocolate raspberry, I’ll eat either. There’s an ice cream shop here that has one with tiny little dark chocolate cups with raspberry filling in them and it’s delicious. I also like a Mounds/ Almond Joy inspired ice cream, something coconut flavored with flaked coconut, dark chocolate chunks or chips, swirls of dark chocolate fudge and maybe slivered almonds for mix ins.

YUM… They don't make cherry garcia anymore?!?! It's my favourite too - although I admittedly try not to buy it too often LOL I'm so bummed now.... ETA - ok I had to go looking into this. The Ben & Jerry's website says it was their #3 flavour sold last year and does not mention discontinuation

I'm sorry it isn't necessarily a "unique" flavour but I absolutely LOVE Biscoff. Whether it is the Biscoff biscuits, Biscoff spread or Biscoff ice cream (which I've only seen a few places near me sell). If it is for a parlour, the friend may need to either get permission from Biscoff to call it Biscoff flavour, or give it a new name which should be fine if they make it fresh, themselves rather than ordering it in.

I think it had cannoli in the name. It was pretty darn good. And how did I never know that there was a chocolate cherry garcia? Probably best I didn’t know. As for flavors I’ll echo peach and cheesecake. I also love coffee ice cream with stuff added…chocolate, fudge, cookies or almonds.

Spumoni...a place here used to have it and me and my daughter loved it. Found this on line and copied it.
What 3 flavors are in spumoni?
So what's spumoni you ask? Spumoni is a layered mix of ice cream in three flavors: chocolate, pistachio, and maraschino cherry.

My favorite flavor of ice cream is one I get in Maine that is vanilla with a raspberry swirl through it and raspberry-filled chocolate cups. So good. I have a serious dairy allergy and I still eat it.

One of my favorites was at an ice cream shop that is no longer in business-the couple retired. It was called front loops. It was made with a good French vanilla base that they added these delicious homemade cream cheese fruit flavored candy top to it in the flavors of the fruit loops cereal! So good!they used real fruit in the candy drops!

We also have a ice cream shop that makes their own flavors, some are really outlandish! You can order an ice cream flight, which is nice so you can try some of the odd ones. Examples: Absinthe balsamic vinegar Arnie Palmer Beer and Pretzels Blackberry Cornbread Blackberry Brandy Butternut Squash Campfire The list goes on. They do certain ones every day, not all the flavors all the time!
There is a grape sorbet that I would love to try! Cranberry would be a good pick Apple Pie Lime Cold Brew
