I’m thinking a daily shower would be just as helpful, but maybe there is a unique need here not previously being met? I’m seeing more and more commercials for whole body deodorants and I’m wondering. I’ve heard for ages that we Americans are over the top about smells.

Yesterday, I saw a commercial for this product for the first time. My first thought was whether this was going to be the next talcum powder. Is it going to be one of those products that turns out to be bad for you. A shower with a handheld sprayer handles a lot of the 'down there' issues imo.

The fact that the creator of Lume claims to be a GYN and is yet created something that no GYN would recommend you put on your "delicate areas" is a red flag for me.
I agree, shower daily and wash your nooks and crannies. There is no need for whole body deodorant.

No I don’t but can see how it may be helpful if it is not harmful.
Personally I am not really offended by or judgmental about odor but so many in the US are. If it is worrisome for some people and there is a product that works and makes them feel more confident, I say go for it.
I am not sure what goes on with the body but it certainly does change as we get older and smells are part of it. If just showering and washing the nooks and crannies worked we wouldn’t need or use regular deodorant either.

The commercials drive me nuts (and I can NOT stand the name Mando) and you're right, my GYN said not to use in 'delicate areas'. I'll admit, I tried the deodorant. Does NOT last 24 hours for me. My normal deodorant is better. The body wash is meh.

My friend asked seriously if you were supposed to roll it on your delicate/private parts and then use the same application on other parts of your body. Ick.

I would rather smell than use any product from Lume. Those commercials are so annoying. I don't know who told her that the facetime look/vibe was a good one for tv. It is not.

The commercials bug me so I haven’t paid very close attention to them but I thought I saw it was a lotion so I would guess you would use your hands to apply…but that is pure speculation.

Since pre-menopause I sweat more under my boobs, bikini line and butt crack. So I tried Lume cream. It smelled awful coming out of the tube. The smell disappears quickly when you put it on tho. It worked great, absolutely no sweat smell at all. BUT about the third day I had a reaction to it that looked like chemical burns everywhere I had put it. Stopped using it and sent back for refund. Took almost two weeks to heal cause I couldn’t keep those areas dry. It was awful.

I have some and use it sometimes in the summer. It does help some so I smell like coconut instead of a sweaty gorilla. I wish it was antiperspirant instead of just a deodorant. Now that I’m old, chonky and hot all the time, a daily shower alone just doesn’t cut it. I can’t stand being sweaty at all and wish I could dip my whole body in antiperspirant. Since that isn’t an option and since I haven’t yet found any undergarments that are actually “cooling”, I guess I’ll just opt for not smelling like sweaty underboob all day.

Maybe the cream has a different formulation. And the menopausal sweat is AWFUL. I wish there was a safe antiperspirant that actually worked for those areas because it sucks.

Yes, a daily shower is plan A but if you live in a hot, humid climate and are out moving around, things can get quite stinky before the day is over. Sometimes a second shower would be helpful, but my dry skin doesn’t love that. I’ll be honest and say that I swipe a bit of my regular deodorant in my bikini area. Not on the more delicate parts - just where there are sweat glands. Causes me no problems and does the trick. I also use the same thing under my boobs as necessary.

Commercials are dumb and annoying. With my diagnosis of lichen sclerosus (it's horrible thing, but thankfully mine is under control for now) I don't put NOTHING near private parts in fear. A tiny bit of soap and that is it in that area. I can't even imagine the pain something might cause if that disease should reappear. PLEASE women.... no products down there!!!!!
Edited to add: I don't live in a real humid/sticky environment... I'm in a very DRY area... so my thoughts might be different if I lived in a humid area.
That said the only thing I could think of that it would be useful if you were camping and no access to a real shower. And if some women find it helpful I guess go for it. I shower daily or so and the typical deodorant and so forth. If boobs sweat, they sweat I guess. Never seemed to be much of a problem for me.

As I hit my late 40's under boob sweat became a problem for me. I just use a spritz of regular spray deodorant there and no bad smells all day.

The outside where hair grows, just like your pits, gets sweaty and smelly, and that's where Lume goes. I use it there and on my feet and it keeps me stink free in our South Texas summers.

They started with just a lotion that you apply with your hands, and now have sticks since people used it so much for their pits. You don't use the stick for other parts, usually.

I tried the annoying commercial GYN's product for my feet. The unscented fragrance smelled like butt. I'd rather have my feet smell like feet than butt!

When I had so many hot flashes per day that I was routinely damp in the "nooks and crannies" I did use this. A 12 hour shift with a sweaty crotch can be very unpleasant! It's a cream in a tube (they have a stick too, but I just used the cream) and I used it where the sweat glands are, not up in the vagina or anything. It worked just fine for smells but it's not an antiperspirant. I find that a couple sprays of antiperspirant just inside the thighs are better to keep everything dry. That and a little cornstarch baby powder when needed.
Those of us who are unfortunate to sweat a lot and don't like smelling like it, have to get creative. I don't really sweat nearly so much now that I have the hot flashes under control.

I have used Lume for a while and it works well for me. I used it because it did work, but I really didn't like the smell when it came out of the container and used Native too. They did reformulate the product and it smells MUCH better, so if you haven't tried it for a while, and it worked for you, give it a try again. Also, I use mine mostly on my pits, but I occasionally use it elsewhere, but not on/in the actual private area...just the vicinity and not every day or anything.
That said, I hate her stupid face showing up on TikTok ALL the time. I have tried to hide the Lume ads so many times.

I have underboob sweat, but it has never smelled. You are fortunate. Without deodorant, I get a sour smell there by the end of the day. Gross. I remember the day I discovered my underboob sweat suddenly started smelling like underarm sweat. I was sniffing everywhere trying to find the smell, and I stuck my head in my shirt to get away from it. And then I found out it was me. I was mortified. My sweat does stink pretty bad. I use Lume only for the under boob and it really only lasts half a day for me. I absolutely cannot skip a day of showering in the summer. If your sweat doesn’t stink, you are definitely lucky.

I haven't breastfed babies in almost 3 years and every now and then my underboob sweat smells like sour milk. WTF is up with that?!
I hate Lume for my pits because while it helps me not smell, I still feel wet and sticky there. I've never tried the stick, though.

I bought some Lume a few years ago but didn't like how it smelled so haven't used it much. I think they changed the formula, though. I just bought some of the Mando products for my 18 year old son a few weeks ago. He is in college so I am not sure how they are working for him. He, like me and my mom, seem to be prone to smelling very quickly and he is very sensitive about it. He showers three times a day and it was driving me crazy. He showers before going to the gym, after the gym, and then again later in the evening. He has eczema and it was irritating his skin and he uses so much water and products. But he is paranoid about smelling. I think someone said something to or about him in HS and he hasn't gotten past that. I also suggested that he use it on his feet to try to keep his cleats from smelling.
I think the name for Mando comes in part because mandelic acid is the main ingredient. It also is not an antiperspirant, just kills the bacteria that causes the odor.
