I thought this was a trick question! 😄 I haven’t read the book but the movie airs frequently on TCM (my favourite channel). But I knew who the characters were aside from that. Older demographic!

Don’t ask me how I did 5 years of advanced English in high school and never read this! This was required reading in High School. I have also seen the play at the Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake and in Stratford, Ontario as well as the movie(s).

Were you in Spokane, WA? I loved Boo Radley’s shop and go there often.

I'd know! We had 3 cats named Scout (I,II and III) and I've seen the play twice. Once with Jeff Daniels as Atticus and Celia Keenan-Bolger as Scout which was the best birthday gifts I've ever received.

It wasn’t required reading in the classes I took…..I remember lots of Shakespeare, definitely Lord of the Rings, a Margaret Atwood book and a few others, but To Kill a Mocking Bird was not on the list for any of my classes. And I’m in Ontario too - did 9-13 in high school.

Yes, read book, saw movie and several area schools have Boo Radley clubs. But I didn’t know until last week that the neighbor Dill was inspired by Truman Capote. Crazy that two great writers grew up together.

Absolutely. On the same note, I taught a kid named Uriah. In the teacher's lounge I mentioned his name along with Uriah Heep. Not one of the teachers knew what I was talking about. There is the Dicken's character and the band. I was gobsmacked. Ok I did not recognize the Dickens character. But I remember the band name from my childhood.

ETA - Yes I was in Spokane several months ago! Boo Radley's is a fun store!
ETA - what prompted me to ask the question was that I had just seen an article about Truman Capote & the Swans, and when I was going down the rabbit hole of articles, I learned about his connection to Harper Lee and that the character of Dill in "To Kill a Mockingbird" was based on him.
