Look at you ! You not only are coming out of Lurkdom, you even started a thread about it. That's way cool. I think you can feel that everyone is much more comfortable here at our new home.

... I don't feel comfortable just repeating what everyone else says. Someone has usually expressed my thoughts more eloquently. Haha, I often feel that way too. This is a good thread, I'm amongst my peaples

Totally agree! I want to participate more too, but often find myself just sitting here nodding because I agree with something that's already been said. And, yes, I do find I am shy IRL, especially as the group gets larger. If it's small, I'm OK, but bigger isn't better for me.

Well, this would be my first post so yes, I just lurk. I don't want to just repeat what others have said so I don't post.

Yup, I agree, I have really been trying to be active here. I have more posts here in a week than I had the 13 plus years at the pod LOL. For some reason I like message board format better than Facebook & I kinda felt lost since the last message board I was really active on closed years ago (Croppers Cottage). I'm gonna keep posting even if no one notices

I was mostly a lurker on the old site as well. I agree with everyone about just posting the same things already posted. (See, I just in fact did that) But if that's what it takes to get comfortable posting, I guess I'll just have to be a repeater for a while.

I'm so happy to see so many of you former lurkers posting! I lurked for a while too, and believe me, I can kill a thread with the best of them. I hope to get to know all of you. What time zones are you guys in, where you say everything has already been said? I'm a west coast pea, and I'm frequently on the tail end of discussions too. But I'm sure we west coast peas start plenty of threads. Your response with your personal experience may be just the thing that helps out another pea, who maybe hasn't even posted to the thread yet. You never know! Just post and don't worry about being judged for whatever you have to say.

I lurked for a couple years when I first joined 2Peas. I'm not particularly shy but didn't feel comfortable inserting myself into conversations that other people were having. Finally I decided that I really didn't have anything to lose by posting and started replying to posts. I killed many threads but kept at it until I felt comfortable just replying even if it was just to agree with something someone had already said. That took another few years It took me even longer to start a thread. Now I'm very comfortable, obviously but it took years. I've met quite a few Peas in person and have made some lasting friendships. Just keep at it and you'll eventually get over that out of place feeling. Really, what do you have to lose? If nothing else, just reading here is entertainment

Lurker too. But I'm trying to post more. I read a lot but don't always have something to share.
I do use the like button though, it's a great feature!!

I am so a member of the PLC Club, too. I tend to be shy in real life, need to come out of my shell.

I almost didn't respond because it's just adding more of the same to this thread lol. Also a lurker, also posting more. It's easier with I feeling like a smaller crowd, and being here from near the beginning. Also enjoying the like button. I'm an introvert by nature, but not actually shy. I'm sure that's why it's easier to sit back and nod in agreement instead of commenting so often. Now I'm off to start a new thread to vent about my friend's kid. New beginnings and all that ETA: decided not to make a new thread after all. Lol

I heard the bat call so am now checking in. While it's still the 4th of July for many of you I'm now in July 5th and should be sleeping! I'm still too wound up from celebrating Independence Day though so thought I'd see what everyone is talking about. As far as being shy? I'm not. I'm just not really good at participating and I also don't like attention.

So do the rest of you lurker find that you're shy as well IRL? I can be, especially if I am in a group of people I don't know well. I'm working on it, but I don't always have something new to add to the conversation. Yes, this is totally me! I found myself doing this at a cookout earlier today. Was a "part" of several conversations lol, but I don't think I said a word during either one. Just stood there and listened to everyone else around me and took it all in. Kind do what my m.o. Has been on 2peas in the past

I'm fairly shy is real life, especially until I get used to a group of people. It does feel like I repeat a lot of what everyone has said sometimes. Those are good times for the quote button! And then just say "exactly how I feel" to go with it.

I'm also "Me, too!" averse here. Usually. And I definitely don't do "No, I don't know anything about this topic or question." (Seriously?!) I can read an 18-page thread and not comment. On the old board, I only posted if I thought my contribution would include new information or a new perspective. I'm broadening my horizons here, but I'll always be more of a reader than a poster. And thread killing? Yeah, it seems ego-deflating, but I think it's usually just bad timing. The thread was dying, anyway. Your role is to prevent the second-to-last poster from being the killer.

I do. I was trying to reply to 10 threads a day, but I don't feel comfortable just repeating what everyone else says. Someone has usually expressed my thoughts more eloquently. This! Exactly! But I AM trying ( in fact, I guess it doing it right now!) Exactly!

I was always more of a lurker. I'm trying to participate more since we have this new board. I wouldn't worry about killing a couple of threads. I think we all have done that from time to time. Someone's got to do it, right? lol

I'm an introvert by nature, but not actually shy. I'm sure that's why it's easier to sit back and nod in agreement instead of commenting so often. I quoted the part that is true for me I'm definitely a introvert. Wasn't so much back in the day but I find as I get older I am more and more introverted. I do love a good forum though. My fav. local message board closed a few years ago, then my fav. scrap message board changed with the climate and became a advertising place before becoming almost totally silent so I did get used to being forum "homeless". Sometimes it's hard to break in with a new board. It can be easier to just read. Hopefully I will bring myself to just post more here

I'm definitely not shy in real life. An introvert, for sure, but not shy. I can talk with people and carry on a conversation. I prefer to be on the outskirts, but once I'm in, I'm in. I was on TwoPeas for over 10 years with under 100 posts under my old name although I would read for sometimes hours a day, so clearly I am shy on the boards.

I'm definitely not shy IRL, but for some reason I have a problem posting. I don't want to repeat what's been said, I don't want what I say to be taken the wrong way, I don't want to get hand-slapped, etc. I'm really trying to make an effort to post, but I have to admit it makes me kind of nervous!
