Any lurkers still feel "out of place"? I sure do but I'm trying to post more but I think I killed a few threads.
Someone should do a weekly "PLC" post to make sure no one feels left out.
Keep posting!

Not a lurker, but I wouldn't worry about killing a couple of threads. I've killed plenty of threads in my day

I do. I was trying to reply to 10 threads a day, but I don't feel comfortable just repeating what everyone else says. Someone has usually expressed my thoughts more eloquently.

Being in a different time zone from most of you, I sometimes feel like by the time I get to a thread everything has already been said. I'm trying to post more anyway!

Same here scraphollie. I guess that's what has always made it so easy to read and not post.

Oh, don't worry at all about those poor threads you killed ( just kidding!! ) - we've ALL done that tons and tons of time! That just makes you a true pea! I know what you all mean about feeling like your comments have already been stated. I find myself there in a thread all the time; sometimes I post anyway and sometimes I just nod to myself and move on.

Sign me up for the club. I still feel somewhat out of place and I feel like I am just repeating what was already said. Still, I'm making an effort to post more. On the old site, I lurked for years and never once posted.

I have been lurking for almost a week now and I finally decided to set up my account. I mostly lurked on the other board too. I like to read what everyone else has posted but I don't want to repeat what has already been said. Thanks for starting this thread though. It brought me out of lurkdom and got me my first post.

Lady, I posted something similar to that on the "like button" thread. It is nice to just hit the like button but then I feel like I haven't participated and feel the need to post anyway.

Ha! I hardly posted cause every time I did, I caused the thread to have a long painful death. It's good to see some speak up and have their voices heard.
It takes a village!!

Glad to see so many coming out of lurkdom.

I am trying to post more. But yeah sometimes I feel like I don't have anything to add or what I wanted to say has already been said. And yeah, I have killed plenty of threads!

I lurked on the other board for many years before joining. I only broke down and joined when it became necessary to use the ignore feature. Sometimes everything's already been said, you know? I'm really appreciating the "like" feature here so that I feel like I'm participating but not clogging the board with "dittos" and "I agrees".

So do the rest of you lurker find that you're shy as well IRL? I can be, especially if I am in a group of people I don't know well. I'm working on it, but I don't always have something new to add to the conversation.

Lurker raising my hand. See my post count <------- Sometimes I don't want to repeat what others have said; other times it's easier to read and run and then there are the times I just don't want to sound like an idiot

Yep, me too! But I realized by achieving my "two star" rating that I have now posted WAY more in a week than I ever did in over 10 years of almost daily lurking on the old board! Yay me! I do like the like button and have been using it, kind of a fb carryover. Lurkers, your voices need to be heard!

What Purplebee said. Word for word!
I'm trying to post more even if I don't really feel like I'm moving the discussion on, just to get into the swing of it, hoping that I will eventually feel more comfortable posting

I'm working on it, but I don't always have something new to add to the conversation. I would call myself quiet IRL. I am friendly but I don't really speak up if I am in a group of people especially if I don't know them well. I wish I could change that.

Yep, this is me too. I'm shy IRL and am much more comfortable observing than actually verbalizing my thoughts. Seems it carries over online as well. I'm using the like button a lot as well - I love this feature on the new board!

I'm a big-time lurker who is trying to change. When I first meet people I clam up, but with people I like I get loud and obnoxious (my in-laws probably think I'm nuts, since I kind of switch back and forth depending on who all is around).

I agree with just about all of you! It seems easier for me to unlurk & respond to specific questions.
So - anyone want to share the highlight of their day so far? Mine has been watching my son spending hours diving for stuff in the pool. He hasn't wanted to put his head under to swim until yesterday (he just decided he was ready & it was time), so I'm proud of him & glad for the easy way to entertain him.

My dh says he takes me to the company parties because he says I can socialize with groups of people better than he can. I guess I just want to post things that add to the conversation.
