Because they don’t know the word? But yeah - do a bit of research before choosing an ‘unusual’ name.

Crazy…. I work at a Primary School. Had a new First Grader start last week. His first name is Cohesion… Why do parents do this to innocent little kids?

Oy!
I saw a video of a lady who worked in a children's clothing outlet who met a woman & her baby. Embroidered on the diaper bag was the name "Cuntley". Yes, intentional. To this day, I'm hoping it was a spoof.

I actually don't dislike Mallidy, it reminds me of Melody. I don't think I've ever used the word Malady in context. It's a bit Dickensian for me so although I can hear the similarity, Mallidy is certainly one of the least offensive different names imho.

I called her Melody... which is a lovely name and what i thought she said... and her mom corrected me... someone else asked the mom how thats spelled... i dont think its the worst but... its not melody or mallory...

Oh cripes - when I read the title I thought to myself: "please tell me that's not a name"

It's like they couldn't decide between Melody and Mallory and decided to combine them, but they also have a limited vocabulary and have never heard the word malady.

but they also have a limited vocabulary and have never heard the word malady. That was my thought as well. Perhaps when she is older she can go by Mallie(y), which is actually cute.

Not a fan, but in our family, apparently I’m the only one that thinks naming a little girl Tieranny is freaking ridiculous.

I would pronounce Melody and Malady and Mallidy almost the same way. I would assume that Mallidy is just a different way to spell Melody, and wouldn't have even thought of malady.

I learned only yesterday that Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany named their children Sterling and Bronze. I have no eye rolls left to give after that.

Sterling isn’t that bad. It’s a sir name. I’d feel cheated if I were Bronze though

Mallidy?!?! Why? I think there should be a public voting area for stupid baby names. Yes, I am kidding, and anyone choosing these stupid names would just dig in their heels even harder if the public voted against their choice. Also, I hate the cutie names. Like Bambi or Cuddles. These cute babies are going to grow up one day and it will be uncomfortable to have the CEO named Mallidy or Bambi. I still hate the name Apple.
I saw a baby girl named Harlot of all things! Apparently the beloved grandmother was named Charlotte and people called her Lottie. Grandma died unexpectedly and the granddaughter, pregnant with girl, didn’t like the name Charlotte but wanted to honor grandma. When the baby is born, she is hurt that everyone freaked out at her naming her daughter Harlot, nickname Lottie. Her sister warned her against using it and asked her if she googled the name. She did, but figured the word wasn’t used anymore and no one would connect Harlot with prostitute. After the family freaked upon hearing the name, the new mom is in tears and the family is blaming the sister for not trying harder to dissuade her. I need to stop reading the AITAH section of Reddit.

LOL, agree that its' a ridiculous choice, along with the others posted above. Reminds me of the rant in Big Little Lies when one of the snobby moms corrects the others about her child being named "Amabella" (not "Anabella" or "Annabelle").
