Has anyone got some good books lined up for the new year that you can't wait to read?
I'll be reading GRAY MOUNTAIN and THE HYPNOTIST'S LOVE STORY for my book club.
On my own I want to read NATCHEZ BURNING, THE MINIATURIST, GARDEN SPELLS, EVERGREEN and BOY,SNOW, BIRD. At least that is what I think I want to read for right now!
I always look forward to this time of year because I get B&N gift cards from my family and use those to purchase new books for my e-reader.
What's on your list???

I plan for The World of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, to be my first read of the new year. It is sitting on the coffee table, waiting.

Right now I'm slogging my way through All the Light We Can Not See. I'm almost 40% through it and I'm not seeing why everyone raves about this book. I'm hoping it will take off shortly. It is the book for our book club in January.
I also just started The Storied Lif of AJ Fikry and it seems like it is going to be a good read.

I'm hoping to actually read all the books I have bought and never had a chance to read them. There are about 5-10 books stacked that needs to be read!

Yes I did this in 2014 and have now set up my books for 2015. I look up what books are being turned into movies. I figure those have to be good books, and it turns me on to subject matters I wouldn't have picked up on my own and so far I haven't been disappointed.

I'm with Candygurl. I have quite a few books that I have had forever and haven't read them yet. I'm getting a kindle so I am hoping that will help. I may actually get a few of them for the kindle and sell my paper versions. My eyes struggle to read in low light and my hands cramp easily. Two that I have and want to read are Unbroken and Gone Girl. They are both pretty long books so I Think the kindle version might be more comfortable. Our book club is reading divergent for January so I will be reading that as well. I'm looking for some new titles as well.

In have no particular game plan for the year, but As far as for the moment, I just started a book I got for my birthday last month. It is a translation of an Italian novel called My Brilliant Friend. It is the first in a trilogy called The Neapolitan Novels. I haven't read enough yet to form an opinion yet.

I just downloaded The Andy Cohen Diaries and the Lena Dunham book so those will be next, along with the book about Twitter called Hatching Twitter, since my sister started working at Twitter a few weeks ago.

I just created my list for the year yesterday. I decided my goal would be 100 books for the year (all audiobooks) so I made a list of the books I already own, or can get from the library or borrow from a friend. My problem is usually deciding what to read next and someone in Goodreads group I am in posted an online bingo card maker...so I added my list of books to that and created a bingo card for myself. The plan is to start from one side and read all the books in a line to the other side and then repeat until they have all been read. Seemed like a fun way to set up my reading for the year! Plus I forget which books I have so I get side tracked by new ones. So this will remind me which books I own and already want to read. Some squares have more than one book in them if it's a series. I'm really looking forward to this of year reading

I am usually an avid reader, and always have a book going. But since I got a tablet a couple of years ago, I have spent more time surfing the web, reading this message board and fb, than reading books. I have also gotten back into scrapping after a looooong hiatus, so there's lots more new product/techniques to explore online. I miss my books and will make an effort to incorporate more books into my reading/leisure time. I have Stephen King's Revival ready to read, plus a few other pea reccomendations already downloaded to my Nook. I do read the reading thread each week, does that count? ? Thanks for all the great suggestions.

I am not a rereader but I Captured the Castle is a comfort read from way back. Enjoy! I hope so! Unfortunately I've been calling myself a "reader who doesn't have time to read" for about the last cough20yearscough. now with the audiobook industry getting so big and the ease of having a book to listen to on my smartphone everywhere I go, I've been able to put reading back into my life. 2013 I finished 25 books and this year will be about 93...but I have a lot of years of a lot of great books to catch up on. I think that's why I have so many good books on there, everyone else has already read them...I'm just late to the party! Anyone who finds it hard to get reading time...I can highly recommend audiobooks. Yesterday I went for a walk, did the grocery shopping, cleaned around the house, cooked dinner, fed the cat, had a shower, all while listening to my book. They also have great sales and I find I get most of my books for about $5-10, and often the 'daily deal' at Audible is only $3.95

Oooh, I love the Bingo idea!
I have a bookshelf full of books I need to read. That's pretty much where my list will come from. Start at the top and work my way down!

Kristin, I use an e-reader as well, but I have found there are certain books that are better reading in book form and UNBROKEN is one of them. I highly recommend the book form for UNBROKEN because there are photos inside and because you will more than likely want to loan it to others to read. I prefer reading on my e-reader, but anything with maps or photos, or books that I need to refer to (like the BIBLE), I like to have the actual book.

I'm interested in reading Alan Cumming's book - Not my Father's Son- a Family Memoir. It has had some good reviews and I saw the programme about his search for his family history.

sugarmama - I loved The Hypnotist's Love Story when I read it a few years ago! I don't have a specific list of books yet, but I think I'm setting a goal of 125 books for 2015. (I barely made my goal of 100 in 2012, so this will be an aggressive goal for me!) I usually pull several books from the new release emails I get from Good Reads at the beginning of the month and round that out with a stack of books from the new release shelves at my library every time I go. pjaye - that is seriously impressive!

Plan to start Red Rising by Pierce Brown. It's the first book in a Trilogy with the second book coming out 1/8/15. It's simikar to The Hunger Games and Divergent. I bought book one on sale for 2.99. If I like it, I'll buy book 2 and continue the saga.

Believe it or not, I have yet to read Unbroken or Wild, so those are first up after I finish Amy Poehler's book. Then I want to read Anita Diamant's The Boston Girl and Jane Green's Saving Grace. After that, who knows!

At least that is what I think I want to read for right now! What's on your list??? Evergreen by Belva Plain??? I read this book at least 25 years ago and while I don't remember it I just remember staying up any at nights to read it. I had completely forgotten about it and for some reason it popped in my head a couple months ago. There was also a mini series and was hoping it was streaming somewhere but I can't find it. I want to read the book again.
