I have a ridiculous roofing question... I was just in the attic and noticed a few drip spots. Roof isn't that old so the roof should be in good shape.
The back side that gets the sun is nice and dry. The front size which doesn't get much sun is the part that has the drips coming off the plywood. It's cold 30ish and it probably frosted over last night.
I feel like even if its cold and frosty the fact that it's dripping some up there is a bit concerning to me. It's not concerning to husband, but he ignores pretty much everything. Anyone want to weigh in? I'll likely call a roofer, but in the meantime I figured maybe the peas had some experiences to share.

Gary Sullivan has a radio show about home care. He's so awesome to listen to, and he seems to know everything and when he doesn't, he admits it. But he would be the first to tell you that any water inside your house is a bad sign.
It sounds like you don't live in a climate where there's a lot of snow, just some frost, but leaky roof in the winter often means ice dam in snowier climates. So, while it might not be a serious problem for you, that water doesn't belong there, so get it checked out.

It could be a condensate problem as opposed to a roof leak. Is the attic heated? Vented?

It could be a condensate problem as opposed to a roof leak. Is the attic heated? Vented? hubby says its a condensation problem...attic is unheated. It is vented, but we sided the house a few years ago and it tightened everything up which is when this happened. They put in venting then. I assumed all was well, but went up today for something and there is water dripping in places (dripping off the nails I think.) Also I can see it running down the trusses (i'm thinking that is what they are called) that hold the roofing plywood. We're New England so we get snow. None yet, it's just cold and frosty right now.

I was a project manager for a huge general contractor in my pre-kids life and I was going to say condensation as well. Never hurts to get it checked!

You may need more venting. Do you have a full ridge vent or only the soffit vents?

Even if it is a condensate problem, it needs to be addressed. As Eddie-n-Harley said, water inside your house is a bad sign and doesn't belong there. I'd get it checked out.

My handyman husband also says it's a ventilation problem causing condensation.

Yes, it sounds like not enough ventilation. The condensation can cause mold to start growing, so it's better to get it taken care of sooner rather than later. Try using a dehumidifier in your attic to get rid of the moisture for now. But get it looked at.

What is the roof material? Mine is metal, I usually read all the necessary info here , but I would let an expert to check your roof, seriously.
