What would it be? For the sake of this thread let's not make it stuff like I wish my basement didn't leak or something. Something either aesthetic or functional that you would like to change if you could.
ETA - Ok no limits you can change anything! LOL

I like my house. I really do. But I wish my bathroom fixtures were white instead of colored. My bathtub, toilet and sink are mauve. The bathroom cabinet is wood with mauve inset or something. The tile floor is off-white with blocks of mauve.
Did you know mauve is not in fashion these days? My bathroom needs a redo. Obviously I'm not doing anything about it right now but now is when the towels and stuff are on sale so I'd like to get them and have them for a suitable time. But I can't find a shower curtain that will look nice in this bathroom. My current one, which I don't hate, has mold. I've washed and bleached it multiple times and the mold won't go away. I don't love an all pinks pattern either.
I can't just replace the fixtures as easily as I replaced the harvest gold washer and drier when the bit the dust!

I would like a front porch. Right now we just have a small "stoop" type thing. It is covered so it's like a mini-porch, but I'd like one that I could put a couple chairs on and sit and wave to the neighbors. lol

My entire downstairs is wide open....(well..except for the 1/2 bath and spare room) and I have a loft. (I built it...well not me actually..LOL) I would have made the kitchen a big bigger as far as counter/cupboard space.

My fireplace. It's in the corner. It has some cheapily made shelving that won't hold our TV (too big). I've debated removing the shelving snd framing it so its all flush from floor to ceiling. just like this: Fireplace blog

I wish my dining area was larger. We opted to make the formal dining room into a home office when we had the house built. I knew the dining area would be tight and it is. I wish we had about 5 to 10 more feet of space for dining.

A bigger backyard, a better entryway into our master bath (the door going into the bathroom opens up into our shower door.), bigger closets and a 3 car garage.
I'd love a front, or wrap around porch, but as much as I have always wanted one, I don't think it would ever get used. I don't care to sit outside and watch people drive by. It would be much better for a house out in the country or by a lake.

So you mean I can't wish that my 100 year old house had the charm of a 100 year old house but the benefit of updated....everything?!?! Ok, then how about I'd love to get rid of the peach tile in the main bathroom or the light yellow cabinets in the kitchen or the wall paper on the kitchen ceiling (seriously, wtf?) or the paneling in the family room. Ahhhh.....someday.

Christine our neighbors have the same house plan that we do. They renovated and made it into an open floor plan. We aren't friends so we've only ever seen a glimpse while driving by. Dh would like to extend the wall on one side of our steps to close off one of the rooms. I wouldn't like that.

That I don't own it Turning 30 soon and am considering moving from the area so I can finally afford to purchase something other than a tiny condo.

I did not know that about mauve bathroom fixtures. That is something that is a bit of a challenge to fix. I like my house just fine, but the main thing I would change is it's location. I'd put it in the town 8 miles from where I live. If I were looking to change just one thing, I'd like to have a real fireplace. At the time we built we were in our early 30s. We didn't have a big budget, so that is something we did not do. We have an electric one to warm up the downstairs, but it's just not the same as fireplace with a real flame.

I would like a water hookup in my kitchen so I can use my refrigerator's ice maker. I would also like a storm door.

Wow, what a change! I hope you get to do that to yours. It's awesome! Our's is a corner fireplace, but it looks like the final product on that blog. I love it.

Can I make it into a 1 story?
Failing that, I'd either redo the facade or add a mudroom. Probably the mudroom.

I would have deeper countertops in my kitchen and a wall of storage on one side of our breakfast nook.
I love kitchen gadgets but I don't use them very often. I had a kithenaid mixer, but I passed it on because I hated having it on the counter and it was hard to get out from the bottom of the cabinet.
Now I want another kitchenaid mixer but I still don't have an easy place for it.

This house is pretty good as is but it really needs more storage. It came with no pantry. We've gotten by with some cheap Home Depot garage cabinetry but we really need some built-ins etc.
Also, we would either get rid of the pool (old construction) or re-do making it bigger. It's too small for much entertaining and it's smack dab in the middle of yard. The pebble stone lining the backyard walking paths would go too. That stuff is killer on barefeet!
I would also add A/C. We don't need it often but when we do, we really do!
ETA: Oh I like the idea of moving the fireplace too. It's in a weird spot where nobody hangs out ever! We haven't even used it this year yet since it's in such a strange place.
Can't believe I forgot about adding a large tub to the master. It only has a shower so when I want a bath I have to use the only tub that is in the hall bathroom.
Oh wait I can't forget about wanting to convert our electric stove to gas. Hate cooking with electric. I'd also like a pot rack so I don't have to either put unused pots on the stove or in the hard to reach cabinets

I would like a walk in closet in the master bedroom. I don't like that I only get four feet of bar space and I have to dig behind my clothes to reach the shoes I've had to stash back there.
I'd also like to change the layout of my kitchen cabinets. It's laid out to have a small eat in area, but with four kids, it's really not usable. I would like to put in more storage instead.

Two things come to mind:
A larger formal dining room with a really big table. I can seat 8 now (10 if we squeeze in) but I'd love to have room for one of those big banquet tables that would seat double that number.
Our house looks like a one-story on the front but has a full walkout basement on the back. That leaves an elevated deck on the back that we can access from the breakfast room on one end of the house and the master bedroom on the other. The deck looks down on a nice wooded area, but if I could wave a magic wand it would look down on a large private lake!

I would move the kitchen to where the back bedroom is and have two single bedrooms where the kitchen now is, turn the utility into a 2nd bathroom, the middle bedroom into a dining room and because the new kitchen would be next to the garage, I could have a door between the two so we don't have to go outside every time we need something from the garage andI'd be able to have a conservatory off the 'new' kitchen. There. That's my one thing.

Only one?
i would make a larger laundry/mud room. The one we have is too small to fit a standard size washer and dryer side by side (we checked the blueprints filed with the city, there was a construction issue with the original house, the house is smaller than it was supposed to be). It is next to impossible to keep the shoes and coats and backpacks organized in such a small space. Oh and the basement door opens into the space too.
kitchen. I guess that is ok. Would like a panty though.
Living room and dining. Wish it was big enough that we could arrange the furniture so that the house is not a giant hallway.
Master closet (layout sacrificed in the house size) would be nice if walk in did not really have to mean "walk in sideways"

Oh gosh, there is so much I would change! I'm assuming that the rules of this game don't allow me to just say I'd change my whole house to a brand new one? If that's the case then I guess the first thing on my (very long) list would be to update the nearly-30yo kitchen. It's at the stage where I am embarrassed for anyone new to come into my house.

I wish I had heated floors in the bathrooms. The tile is really cold on my feet in the middle of the night, and when I wake up in the morning.

My first thought was for it to be back in GA.
Right now I can think of 3 things that I want to change about the house. 1. All of the flooring needs to be replaced. We have been here for 11 years and the carpet is worn out. 2. I would love to redo my kitchen. I loathe the white cabinets and the layout is not very workable. 3. I also would like to redo the master bath. The shower is cheap and has not aged well at all.

The payment? LOL
First and foremost, and this is an attainable goal I am working towards in 2015, is to rip out the builder beige, shitty grade carpet that is stained and ripped and install hardwood floors.
I would love for my kitchen to be opened up to the living room and I would love to add a little more cabinet/counter space. Although in fairness, I do have a nice sized kitchen, but as I get older and more mature in my cooking skills, I do wish for more room as I spend more and more time in there.
My laundry room is off of the kitchen - nowhere near a bedroom or bathroom where all the dirty clothes are shed. I would love to add a laundry room to that end of the house (and a BIG one) so I didn't have to lug the laundry so far and turn the current laundry room into a half bath for guests to use instead of the hall bath that is DD's.
Oh and I wish I could hire an interior decorator to come and redo everything around the pieces I already have that I love. I just don't have the eye for it.
Oh and I wish I had more natural light!!
Ok I'm done. I really do love my house, but if I won the lottery…it would get paid off first, and remodeled next!

A level back yard. Yes, I know I live in Hillsville, so a level lot is a toughie, but I'd be perfectly fine with a level front yard, sloped side yards, and then a level back yard. But my current yard is almost entirely sloped from the road right down to the wooded drop-off that dumps you in the creek. I'd also like a linen closet in the bathroom instead of outside of it. And a bigger pantry. And a bigger kitchen. And I wouldn't want sliding doors in my living room. It's pretty and it allows a ton of light in, but it creates a virtual hallway through the room that I don't like. Oh, and a level driveway! And one extra room to use as a "whatever" room. A room that could be a formal room if we wanted it, or an office or den, or a playroom, etc.

We desperately need a second bathroom. I also would love to knock out one end of the house and extend the kitchen and living room areas. Just make them longer. A 3rd bedroom on the main floor would be nice too, but my almost teen does love having her room down in the finished basement, so I don't know how much she'd want that.
