Does anyone have a Fujifilm instax mini 8 instant film camera? My 11 yr. old was at a friend's house and the friend got this camera for Christmas. My daughter really likes it and wants it for her birthday in March. It got great reviews, but I thought I would ask here too.

My DD has one and she LOVES it! The film is pricey, in my opinion, but she sets aside money here and there and buys her own. She has a great time with it

It is on sale at a craft store this week. I can't remember which one, maybe Joann's?

My niece got one for Christmas. It was a lot of fun. But yes, the film is pretty pricey, and the quality is so-so, as to be expected.

My DD has one, and she and her friends LOVE it! I buy the film from Amazon.

They now have a printer that uses the same film, so you can use your phone photos (which should be better quality) and print them. Instax share is what I think it's called.

They had them at Michaels. I think you can get them cheaper on Amazon if it goes on sale.

I got mine at J's for about $58. It was on sale and then I used my teacher discount. The film has to be ordered since no one around here (that I have found) carries it. I got the yellow one for Christmas because everyone should have a yellow camera.

I have one and my grandkids(10 and 11yo) love it. I usually use a coupon and get my film at Michael's.

Youngest dd has one and goes through phases with it. She'll take a bunch of pictures and then put it away and not touch it for awhile. Definitely buy the film on Amazon.

Thanks for all of the replies! It's nice to know that the kids like the camera, and to learn about the film and where to buy it. I will watch for Amazon and Michael's sales.
I am not familiar with Amazon, I hardly ever order things online. But we did order The Middle season 1 and 3 dvds last month. I think it costs under $20 for one season and $17 for season 3. They charged us about $4 (or more?) shipping for each dvd. So is amazon shipping expensive?
I will look at Michaels or JoAnns too, as we have them nearby and I get the coupons. Or do they not let you use the coupons for film?

I got the 7 a couple of years ago and it's a fun little camera. The photos aren't crisp but they have a great retro feel to them. I buy my film in bulk on Amazon.

My 11 year old got one from Santa. She loved that it was her favorite color, yellow! I don't think she's gone through a roll of film yet but its fun to have in a pinch. She definitely prefers her iPhone for photo-taking though.

I haven't used it yet, but I bought myself one for my birthday. I was thinking that I could use it for my smash book.

Got one for my 11 year old niece for Christmas and she loved it! I only gave her one pack of film so she was being choosy in what she took. Her sister wants one now as well. I told her to just get her own film (and I sent her a package thru Amazon).
I also got myself one. Got them both on Black Friday at Michaels. I think they were $70, it was the cheapest price I'd seen. Have not looked for film at Micheals, so I don't know if they take coupons for it.

Another option is the Polaroid 300. DD(17) wanted this over the Instax because she like the colors better (Instax are pastels). They do go on sale regularly through Amazon and we buy her a big film pack for her birthday & Christmas. Polaroid 300
DD and all her friends love it.

For $80 or so a year, it gets you access to Amazon's Streaming TV/Movie content (maybe music too) and 2 day free shipping on many items. If you find yourself doing more online shopping, it may be worth looking into.

I have one of these cameras and we just got DD (15) one for Christmas. The film can be pricey. You can get it at M's with a coupon, but our Joanns will NOT take a coupon for the film or the camera. I think I paid right around $55 for DD's. M's had them on sale and it was also a weekend they had 25% off total purchase including sale items. So it made the camera a good deal. it would be a good deal this week too if its not on sale, there is a 50% off 1 item coupon.

I have had one for a year. I used it a lot at first. Even though the picture quality is poor I found it great for using in my Project Life album. I live in the UK and I can only find the replacement films online. The novelty has worn off a bit but since my niece bought me a case for it for Christmas I've started using it again.

I might look into getting DD one for her 18th birthday in March. It would be fun for the party plus maybe dorm life this fall if she wants to have a photo board in her room.

My daughter, almost 16, got one several years ago in Hong Kong and loves it. She brought it back for our most recent trip and took some fun photos. My brother's wife loaded her up on new film (you can get it almost anywhere over there) and I had gotten her some for Christmas.

I got one for my dd for her birthday next month, so I can't comment on the quality yet. I can't wait to give it to her! They seem to be incredibly popular with girls in this age range. I ordered from Amazon and it was just over $70. I was watching the prices for a few weeks and the prices sure jump around a lot. It went from the low $70's to just over $100. When it went back to $70 I grabbed one.

You are TOTALLY misunderstanding how Prime really works! It matters not that you NOW don't do much online ordering. What happens is that you sign up for it (you get a free trial if you want to try it out first), and then, because you have it and because Amazon is the most awesome retailer in the world, you suddenly find yourself ordering all sorts of great stuff from Amazon. Then, you can't find something you need in a brick and mortar store, and when you go on Amazon, there it is at a great price, and you can get it in 2 days so you will have it in time for the event, and after that, you start checking Amazon FIRST. And then you realize that you can put in many different addresses, so that you can send people gifts via Amazon, pay no additional shipping, and you know exactly when they are going to get there. You can send your college student a package of wall hooks, because there isn't any additional shipping charge, and he'll get them in two days. And none of the above even touches the streaming, Kindle lending, and other great Prime features!
Sorry for the hijack, but I couldn't let your comment go unresponded to!

I think I understand it. You pay $80 for the year, and then shipping is free and faster. We just don't order much online at all (I love to shop! ), so I don't think it would be worth it. I can see it being a great deal for people who love online ordering though! But we have had problems with credit card numbers being stolen, so we are super paranoid about that. So even with a "good deal" we still wouldn't order online. We just did it because we couldn't find the dvds anywhere else. But that's rare for us, we usually find what we need at the store.
So I guess my point was that we just don't order online enough to justify spending the $80. If we only ordered from Amazon once or twice a year and we only spent $20 both times, wouldn't we lose out? But if my friend orders everything online (she hates to shop!), then it's a great deal for her.
But maybe I am misunderstanding still! I guess I am old fashioned and prefer to shop at the store (gets me away from whiny teens at home!! ). But I appreciate you helping me out with this. I could see myself getting into trouble if I find lots to buy on amazon! haha! It is something to consider for the future if we can get over being so worried about putting credit card info online (and we have security measures on our computer, but the hackers always seem to be one step ahead!). I hope I am making sense! I am thinking of getting a visa gift card to use for online purchases, so we don't have to worry about credit card info being stolen. Lots for me to think about here!

Did someone name the printer that can print phone photos on instax paper?
My eyes hurt today so I'm skimming not reading carefully, I apologize.
