I wanted glasses with my name written in the corner. I did did not wear glasses, so this was never going to happen. Didn't stop me from thinking they were super cool.

Lol, I wanted name brand sneakers. Really, any brand would have been great, but my mom would not entertain the thought of getting them from anywhere but Payless. I'm not sure why either, we weren't rich by any means but it wouldn't have broken my parents' budget, in fact she would spend comparable amounts on other clothing items. I'm going to ask her about it next time I talk to her.

An easy bake oven. I was baking in the big oven from a pretty early age, but all I ever really wanted was an easy bake oven {sigh}.
A friend had one and I would cross my fingers that we got to bake something whenever I was at her house.

I wanted satin shorts and a satin jacket. This was in the late 70's or so. They came in pastel colours. By the time I got a satin jacket they were out of style and definitely not cool anymore. I also wanted a K-way jacket (same time period, maybe also early 80's). Instead I got a knock-off brand and that did not go unnoticed by the other kids

I wanted a trampoline and an above ground pool from the Sears catalog. I never got either one.

I wore lots of clothes that were hand me downs from my brothers. I wanted to go school shopping just once. Never did. If my mom didn't make it, it came from my brothers. When I got a job in high school, I spent tons of money on clothes and shoes.

As a child, I wanted an Easy Bake Oven, badly. Back in the early 80's, during high school, I wanted a Lacoste polo and sweater with my initials embroidered on it. That was what all the "lake kids" wore and I so wanted to fit in.

I wanted a scooter that was just a piece of square plastic with four wheels on it. I also wanted school pictures. And I wanted a book from the book order. Man, my parents were cheap.

I wanted clothes that were new - bought just for me. Not hand me downs from strangers. (I'm the oldest, so no older brothers and sisters.) I finally got them when I moved out of the house.

I wanted Weebles. "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down!" I did get a Goodwill set of Fisher-Price Little People. But I really wanted Weebles!

I wanted a lion cub. Really really badly. This was around the time the movie Born Free came out. I wanted an Elsa the lion.
Needless to say, I didn't get one.

Awesome question. I wanted a home movie projector very badly.
Also, Van slip-on shoes (I got the knock-offs). I was sure to get both kids the real deal when they wanted them.
I wanted to play AYSO soccer but mom said no (I did play softball however).
I got quite a bit in my day but those 3 things were still coveted.

When I got a job in high school, I spent tons of money on clothes and shoes. Being the youngest of 5 (and growing up behind 2 brothers), I got boy hand-me-downs too. My DD is so lucky that everything she gets is her choosing and new. (DS is younger but even if he weren't, it would be a rare thing that I would hand down).

"Booooorn Freeeeee, as free as the wind blows...as free as the grass grows...born free to follow your heart..." I loved that movie. As I was cooking tonight, the android commercial came on and I started singing along "Robin Hood and Little John walking through the forest..." and my kid looked at me like I had grown a third eye. I had to explain that I remembered it from a movie when I was a kid.

I wanted a Madame Alexander baby doll from Santa when I was in 2nd grade. I got some cheap knock off baby instead. I was crushed. The next year I again asked for the Madame Alexander baby doll and got it. 45 years later, I still have that doll.

I wanted a dishwasher. I was the sole dishwasher and I HATED it. To this day, I loathe washing dishes. You can bet I now own a dishwasher!

I lusted after a pair of Joyce shoes. My mean mother refused to buy them for me. Vicki Lund, who lived across the street from me and was an only child, had numerous pairs.

There were three of us girls - all best friends - who lived in three houses in a row on our street. We pestered and pestered our parents to get us matching banana bikes. Very similar to this: It took a while for l all of us to convince our parents, but we finally did. And, man, were we ever proud of our bikes! We put streamers in the handlebar ends and added those little clicker-things to the spokes. We were hot stuff on our bikes. Then Heather moved into the neighborhood. Heather from California. Heather who had a 10-speed bike. All of a sudden banana bikes were sooooo uncool. None of us would be caught dead riding them. So we began to pester the parents for 10-speeds. Which we did not get, of course.

Platform shoes. Oh how I so wanted fashionable shoes. My mum refused outright to buy me anything other than sensible shoes. She had to wear cheap ill fitting shoes when she was young, and her feet were a real mess. Hammer toes, bunions, corns, you name it. It was the one thing we had huge battles about. As soon as I had some money of my own, I bought crappy platform shoes that looked great. I wore them once.

I was in 5th grade when Grease came out. I had a pink satin jacket like the Pink Ladies in the movie. I thought I was so cool. Funnily enough, my 16 year old DD just bought herself a pink satin jacket at Christmas. She dresses quite 'grungey' (again just like me in the 90s), so it looks cute on her.

The only thing that comes to mind is Barbie. I got a Tammy doll from my dad's IBM Christmas Party and I had clothes and a trunk for her. But I don't know why I never got a Barbie. I probably never asked for one.

Real (store bought) Barbie clothes. My mom sewed and made the doll clothes out of scraps. So although I owned about 30 dresses they were all the exact same style--skirt and strapless bodice.

Young parents! I wanted young parents. And a dad with a real job, not a photographer and mother who was more hip. ( I have come to realize that my mother was on the spectrum very high functioning but autistic)
And clothes that came from iszard's. Not hills.
