I was thinking today back to January when I had all these great intentions to get so much done this year. However here I am with the year half gone and so many things on my list are just sitting there. Quilt tops in a pile. Yard projects yet undone. Moving a metal shed from one side of the yard to the other. And much more. I seem to keep procrastinating way too much.
How about you? Are you doing the things you anticipated? Reaching your goals? Do the days seem to be flying by awfully fast?
And ofcourse today some dear sweet soul just had to send me an email telling me how many days til Christmas! What are friends for huh?

It's more than half gone. July 2 is the midpoint. I was supposed to lose 50 pounds by now. But that's the same story every year.

My only plan for the year was to hang in there until I could move closer to work. Mission accomplished. I need a new goal, but I'll figure that out after vacation.

My intentions for projects seemed good at the start of the year, but unfortunately not much has been accomplished. It's not that I'm procrastinating, it's just things have my going in different directions. I figure I'll get to projects one day, but yes this year is flying by.

I thought this at the end of the school year when I was talking with some of the other pick up moms and we were having this same discussion. This year went by crazy fast.I honestly don't where it went. I can't even believe that it is July already. I feel like I've gotten nothing done. I'm sure I've gotten some stuff done though

To be honest, I'll be a little bit glad to see the end of 2014. Within my family and close circle of friends, there have been 6 deaths- which included 4 people well under the age of 50. It has just been a sad year all around.
I wish I could be more organised and still have lots of things to even begin on my "to do" list, but I'm not going to stress about it. We are having a Christmas in July, mainly because my mum's dementia is increasingly worse and we are trying to spend more family time together whenever we can.

The year is flying.
These past almost eight months have been full of change in my life, and I look back and I think, "How is it possibly that is is only July?"

2014 has been very stressful. My dad passed away in May and I took care of him for the past month and half before he passed. My dh's parents have also had health issues.
I need to remember the good times this year as well. My two boys were incredible during the time I spent taking care of my dad, and helped me as much as they could. They never complained.
As a family, we just got back from a vacation of a lifetime. We were so worried about going on the trip given how sick my dad was, but he passed before we left. It was a much needed vacation, to re-connect as a family. So glad we were able to go after all.
2014 has had it's ups and downs, but I can't believe it's halfway over!

My year has flown by.....one day at a time.
I am seriously hoping July flies by too! My July is packed and well August in Texas means you are closer to September which I love!
The year has had up's and down's. Lots of what I described as "the was the last thing I thought would happen" kind of moments. Honestly it has been a bit of a tough year in some ways. More ways that I would like. But I am going to be grateful for the good, deal with the not so good and hard and carry on.
I still have some goals to meet and honestly they are going to have to wait until August. My kids don't start school until the end of August so we have about 6 more weeks of summer left.

I am shocked at how fast the year is going as well.
I have achieved quite a lot when I think about it though. I had to clear out my loft and purge prior to having a new roof fitted, which is finished and looks great. I won't be holding my breath during heavy snow ( if we get any!) this year and the house should be much warmer this winter. I also had my bathroom ripped out and redone. I absolutely love it, but the mess during the process - I felt like weeping daily and for a good 6 weeks after the bathroom and roof were completed, a black dust settled everywhere every single day. I thought it would never stop! I had some new doors hung downstairs when my bathroom was done ( which is also downstairs so I wanted it all to match) and those took some careful prepping and painting . I am not a natural decorator so I have to prepare very carefully to get any sort of decent result.
I have repainted my office, hallway and door, my son helped me repaint the front of the house last week and I am now in the middle of purging and super-cleaning my kitchen. I have one project left for the house- the gully down the side is being dug up and new drainage pipes put in. Not a pretty project but very necessary as my ex damaged one of the pipes when he was trying to help me with a blockage a couple of years ago ,and all sorts of disgusting stuff has been slowly leaking out since then into the unground area. Yuk! That is due to be done in a couple of weeks and then I can stop bleeding my bank account dry for a while!
Considering I have had awful toothache the last 8 days I am surprised how much I have achieved recently!

Yes, it has flown! My father died very suddenly in February, and the weeks surrounding that seem to have slowed. In contrast, all other time sped up. It feels like I haven't accomplished a thing this year! I will be happy to get this year behind me so we no longer have to deal with all the sad firsts. now I need to find some motivation and get everything finished that I meant to!

Thank you, uksue. Luckily my father instilled a lot of pulling-up-your-bootstraps-and-dealing-with-it in me and my siblings. Even better is that my siblings and I all like each other and are very helpful to each other. I realize that makes me very lucky!

This has been how our family's year has been as well. My FIL passed of cancer at 57, my MIL's two sisters passed one of stomach cancer she was 52 and one of pneumonia she was 56. On top of that my grandmother has breast cancer, my MIL was just diagnosed with breast cancer and I was diagnosed with Melanoma (It was removed with clear borders a month ago). It feels like this year my husband and I are only able to take one day at a time. Very sad and stressful year.

I know!! I retired at the end of the school year, and I was all excited about getting started on all my home projects this summer! I joined the gym, and started making lists and plans about my projects, and about three weeks into summer......BAM! I fell down the steps at my mom's apartment and sprained my ankle pretty badly. It's still giving me problems, although I am getting around better and without a cane finally.
After the swelling went down, I kept going to the gym...just skipping the leg exercises on the circuit...mostly just to stay in the habit. But I'm still having trouble taking on any of my projects because I move so slowly and have to be careful how I stand on it. I'm grateful that I don't have to go back to school, so I'm not under a time deadline, but I was so excited about really getting a good jump on things this summer.......sigh.......
