I'll admit that I DVR "Dateline", "48 Hours", "Intervention" and sometimes "20/20" ... I'm just fascinated by crime and addiction I guess I don't watch any dramatic crime shows other than "The Fall" ... just reality ... Anyone else get sucked into these newsmagazine shows?

I'm a serious addict of crime stories. (I started reading Ann Rule when I was like 12, lol.) The minds of criminals is fascinating to me and the process investigators go through to catch them fascinate me even more.

Me!!!!
I DVR a every Dateline and 20/20. I just can't get enough! One thing is for sure, they never will run out of topics. It amazes me the different ways people try to get away with muder.

Dateline type shows drag on and on. Many epsodes are 2 hours and all the info could have been presented in an hour. Too much repition of the info.

I used to watch some, but not now.I find they do not enrich my life, are emotionally difficult, and are all variations on the same themes.

Dateline type shows drag on and on. Many epsodes are 2 hours and all the info could have been presented in an hour. Too much repition of the info. I feel the same. I may start out watching it, but I get impatient with too much repition and go away to Google the story. On the other hand, the "Forensic Files" episodes are just about right at 30 mins.

I always watch 20/20 and Dateline, but I DVR them to watch the next day.
Too intense for late night viewing.
I also had to explain to DD who has caught a glimpse of these shows that the killing of spouses is not the norm!!!

Yes. I'm addicted. I watch ID tv and I'll tape 5-6 shows in a row so I can zoom through the commercials. I love to watch when I scrapbook because I don't have to pay 100% attention.
I know it is bad when I see the same storyline on two different shows!

Yes! DH and I always look forward to Dateline on the weekends and if it's not on we try to find a similar type show.

Yep. Throw in Forensic Files (which is called something else now), and any other show on the ID channel and you've pretty much summed up my television viewing in a nutshell.

I'm right there with all the others. Love these type of shows and books. I think I missed my calling... should've been a detective or forensics-type. Totally fascinated by it all.

I do like them, but I wish they would not take an hour to tell a half-hour story.

I did like them a LOT. I don't watch TV anymore but this kind of news magazine I do like. A few years ago I had seen every Intervention ever made. I liked that show a lot.

I do like them, but I wish they would not take an hour to tell a half-hour story. That's what my DH says too! It drives him absolutely NUTS that they repeat and recap every time they cut to and from commercials. I never noticed it until he pointed it out and now it drives me nuts too!

Yes, I am completely addicted and DVR most of those mentioned. I don't watch much TV during the week, but the family knows that on the weekend they had better not bother me after 9 or so, because I will be parked on my bed with a pint of ice cream "watching my mysteries.• :-P
I also should have been a forensic scientist. I am totally fascinated by forensics.
I don't watch any dramatized crime shows. Only true crime.
I also love 'American Greed,' which is white collar crime.

Dateline type shows drag on and on. Many epsodes are 2 hours and all the info could have been presented in an hour. Too much repition of the info. I used to watch Dateline and 48 Hours years ago when they were more like 60 Minutes with 2-3 stories/cases presented in an hour but I don't have the patience to watch the way they pace them now. Some of the other true crime shows seem to move at a better pace and I've been sucked in if DH is watching one. I might be in the minority but I really can't stand Keith Morrison's narration style. On a completely unrelated note, did you know he is Matthew Perry's stepfather?

Yeah I like watching them, although sometimes I have to give them a break.
One was very interesting to me that was just on a few weeks ago, it was about a couple who was charged in murdering a gal in Aspen, CO. This couple actually were client's of my old firm. So strange to be watching them on TV!!! Strange that I probably met them at some point. Strange that I know I have talked to them and mailed them stuff. Heebie geevies!!
