While akathy is "MIA" I'll be helping her out by starting this daily thread I was supposed to make beef stew with baking powder biscuits the other night but dh's mum is in the hospital and she had a seizure so he had to go there ... the dd's and I ate something different and he picked up takeout ... His mum is stable now so I'm planning to do the stew tonight ... we've been craving it for days now so I hope it actually happens ... aaaaaaaaaaaaannndddd, like a broken record, the dd's hate stew so they'll be fending for themselves What's cookin' at your house?

I ate a late lunch of leftovers from last night (black beans and yellow rice) and am not sure if I will be hungry enough to eat a real dinner.
The baking thread got me thinking I wanted something sweet though, so I might start baking soon enough...assuming I can decide on something to bake. I am almost out of vanilla though, and a trip to Publix is NOT going to happen, so whatever it is going to have to either have no vanilla or very little.

I believe tonight's entry on my menu board in my kitchen reads "hell if I know!" Day 2 of 3 baseball games in a row, plus DH started softball today, so I need to get myself into that groove. DH is going to eat some leftover stuffed peppers from the other night, I will probably grab Buffalo Wild Wings, Subway, or Jimmy John's for ds, and I will either have what he is having, or I will go home an make myself some eggs!

We're having something dh and the boys have never had before - Toad In The Hole. Oldest ds gave me the WTF-look when I told him, he was thinking it was frogs legs. Nope, I'm a Brit not French. It's sausage with Yorkshire pudding batter poured over the top and baked in the oven. We're having it with sautéed cabbage and chard.

Leanne, Thanks for taking over for Akathy while she is gone. This is one of my favorite daily threads!! Last night I was suppose to make grilled chicken sausages and corn on the cob but after our big hike I was exhausted and we stopped at a cute little wood fired pizza place we never had been to. We had Thai Chicken Pizza and it was AMAZING!! Soooo...tonight it will be the grilled chicken sausages and corn!

I'll be having leftovers from last night's dinner. I made chicken with a red curry peanut sauce and a side of coconut lime cauliflower rice. My son (13) took one bite and asked for cereal, so I'll be having his portion tonight. I thought it was delicious but he did not. Hey, at least he tried it

After two days of barbecue, I thought we'd go healthy, so tonight is tuna steaks with burnt carrot salad. DH request.
The baking thread made me want something sweet too, but too late to start a cake now!

Shrimp etouffee with rice and roasted asparagus on the side. I am going to start dinner here in about 45 minutes so I can get it done (except the asparagus) before DH comes home. We are going to spend the last couple of hours of daylight spreading mulch in the flower beds and unclogging our kitchen sink drain.

We had beef sausages which were a bit too dense for my taste but we're ok. I made an onion gravy too, to go with mash, samphire, carrots and peas!

Dunno! I did take some chicken breasts out to defrost, but I don't know what I'll do with them. I have to take the boy to the dentist in late afternoon, so something fast and easy, I guess.

I read the list of "super foods" from the Sugar Busters! Book to dh last night and he decided to cook salmon. It was so good! We had sweet potato and steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. Three super foods on one plate!!

Another thank you for picking up the thread, leannec! I was supposed to be meeting a pal for dinner, but plans fell thru. Since I had nothing planned, it's takeout (I'm thinking I want to try Taco Bell's Chickstar) and Survivor. caro, what 2 sauces to you mix? I'm intrigued!

We had Korean beef and rice. I also had some leftover strawberries (I used some to make a salad earlier in the week) so I put those out as well.

We had DIY salad/wrap for dinner. I put out bowls of: lettuce, red onion, orange pepper, tomato, shelled edamame, cucumber, marinated tofu, homemade hummus, croutons, a few homemade salad dressings, and warm wraps. Everyone assembled their own.
I've been having awful headaches over the past week+ and sciatica pain the past couple of days, so I just didn't feel up to cooking a real dinner.

Can't wait to see his team take the field I'm so excited for him!!! Come back and tell us how it went. My DS was involved in his first ever triple play today (on the good side of it), and we won our game after a totally embarrassing loss yesterday.
