Hey Survivors! Well, my Pool dude, Joe, managed to pull off another immunity win last week but the guy has no allies so I can't see him lasting much longer It's too bad because he really is the perfect player other than the fact that he hasn't made any real connections ... I wonder why that is ... maybe everyone knows that they just have no chance against him Here's what my DVR says about the episode tonight: "Livin' On the Edge" One castaway makes time for arts and crafts and creates a fake idol - and comes up with a plan to keep from being eliminated. Hmmmm ... Joe is a jewelry designer

So first thing we get tonight is Dan acting like a complete ass back at camp, feeling the need to tell Shiren how stupid she is and "educating" her about flips vs. blindsides. Since Shiren got the best of him at last week's TC, I guess he had to stew over it on the walk back to camp so he could continue his lame argument. And look, his bullying is contagious because that useless slug of a man, Will, joins him next week, yelling grade school insults at Shiren, "NO ONE here LIKES you Shiren!" By the way Dan, since Flippers. Never. Win., what's that say about Will, who flipped on his whole no-collar tribe?
I hated seeing Dan's tribe win the reward challenge. I didn't care who else was in his group, I just did not want DAN to win. Oh well..
I have to admit that as much I don't like Rodney, I was laughing at his impressions. They were spot on, especially the impression of Mike.
The immunity challenge was heartbreaking. Damn you Tyler! I loved Joe making that idol. Good job Joe. It didn't work but I appreciate the effort.
I was bummed Shiren didn't vote for Jenn. I get it though. She's got to look ahead and this might have been the better play for her. I also like Shiren. I hope she goes further than the loud mouth guys who are picking on her.
Oh, and can someone explain to me that one girl's eyebrows, Sierra I think is her name? They drive me nuts--are they tattooed on or something?
My most disliked of those that are left are, in order, Dan, Will, then Rodney (yes, Will has moved in front of Rod, just based on next week's previews).
My most liked is a lot tougher out of who is left. It might be just Shiren. Everyone else I'm sort of undecided on.
So, what did everyone else think?

That was the most ridiculous reward challenge EVER! They all risked major injury for chocolate??? Really I'm sure that chocolate made them all sick but of course CBS would never show that. Obviously Mars paid a pretty penny for that product placement. It was so stupid.

I am sure that chocolate would be good after being out there for a while but I thought that they at least would give them some real food before they hit the candy!
So bummed about the vote. Not sure if I like any of these people.

I saw tea, but there could have been lemonade also. ?? I'd do a lot for a snickers bar on most any given day. Can't imagine not having chocolate for that long. On a side note, I wish Joe were still around and Dan was gone. I am not a Jen fan either. Rodney's impersonations were funny. He was spot on for Mike. Mike will be going soon too, I think. He thinks he is running the show and that will change soon. I don't really know who I want to win at this point, but I enjoy watching!

I'm still confused as to why Jenn voted for Dan. If her goal is truly to get voted out, then she could have voted for herself and she would have been gone. She knew she was the swing vote.
Is this her "game"? To practically beg people to vote her off, with the goal that because of that, no one will vote her off because they don't think she'll get any votes from the Tribal Council.

You can't vote for yourself and she didn't want to vote for Joe. She knew her vote wouldn't matter so she just voted for the person she can't stand.

Joe seemed sad the last few episodes. It was fun to watch him win and I was rooting for him. Once he knew he was not on the numbers advantage side, he seemed sad and that was not fun to watch. He was nice to look at , but didn't really give any good air time strategy talks . Jenn is the same way. At first she was great. She had a spiceiness, but now, she's wanting to quit. That's boring. Honestly,my new favorite may be RODNEY! He's funny to watch and he gets good air time, even though he is a caveman! He had me laughing out loud at his MIKE impression! I hope he wins! I also think they'll bring joe back another season.

Oh my, just watched the Ponderosa footage for Joe and talk about heartbreaking! He's taking it har--he's not bitter, just really sad. It's not very often I see the voted off person crying on the walk away from TC. Joe spoke of how badly he wanted to make it to the family visit. He wanted his dad to get to come out there so bad. He said he's been a fan since he was a kid and that his whole family are Survivor fans. It was a really big deal to him. He cried some the next day at Ponderosa talking about it. If you're interested here are some links: Dalton's recap (he made me lol several times--talking bout Will on the water obstacle course and Jeff's Q&AJoe's Ponderosa footage

Yep, I thought the same thing Gale and Yubon--he will absolutely be on the next season that has returning cast members. He is just too damn likable! Do they even do the America's Favorite anymore? I'm thinking they don't but if they do, I wonder if he could even get it. Sometimes America has a short memory and people who don't make it near the end get passed over.

Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. I thought he'd gotten sunburned and peeled. lol Supposedly (spoiler ahead) A future season is supposed to be one-timer returnees. There are rumors of a fan vote for who returns but I'm willing to bet it doesn't matter who wins the fan vote-the producers will decide. A lot of former survivors are on twitter now, reportedly trying to get more votes.

Not sure if I like any of these people. I agree about real food vs. chocolate. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE chocolate. Especially Snickers bars. But, I think after a few Snickers I'd want some meat or cheese too. Although... there are peanuts in Snickers... But at least some milk to drink with it would have been nice, rather than lemonade and whatever else that was.

Getting to this late (yet again) and I haven't read Dalton's review yet or Jeff's Q&A, nor have I watched the Ponderosa footage. I always come here first to hear what all of the Peas thought and to write in my opinion. I'm so sad Joe got voted out last night, but to be honest I think we all saw it coming. There was just no way he could keep winning every single immunity challenge and he just wasn't able to build a strong alliance for himself for whatever reason. DS and I discussed it last night and DS said he thought everyone on the island like Joe well enough so he thought Joe played the social game just fine, but he didn't hide his athletic and strategic ability at all and everyone could see what a power player he was early on-so Joe had a huge target on his back. This seems true since even Hali said in her interviews that she and Jenn were ready to vote Joe off if he hadn't won immunity. I still think Joe needed a stronger alliance though. I do think Joe will be back and hopefully he'll tone down his play a bit, but his huge dis vantage will be that everyone will have seen this season already and know what a great player he is-but you never know. Maybe he'll be able to pull it off next time. Jackie you mentioned something about an America's Favourite and do they even do that anymore? I did read something on Facebook and I don't remember the source but it said that at the end of this season the viewer's will have a chance to vote from a selected set of past Survivor contestants who we want to play in an upcoming season. Have no idea if that will actually happen. Back to this episode: Dan acting like a complete ass upon returning back to camp and jumping down Shiren's throat berating her and telling her how stupid she is. For a "fan" of Survivor Dan doesn't have a clue how to play this game. Constantly belittling and criticizing your tribe mates (the very same people that you want to vote for you if you make it to the end) is not just idiotic it's Survivor suicide. You're never going to win that way if you do make it to the end. Plus it's down right mean and unnecessary. Who does he think he is-the King of the jungle? I hate Dan and can't wait to see him voted off. I'm sick of seeing and hearing him. I agree with you Jackie-although I wanted to see Joe's tribe win. I was rooting for that tribe to win just because Joe was in it. Although like Youbon Peatlejuice the exact thought came into my mind-"Candy? That's the reward? Not a great reward at all!" DS said, "Yuck, I'd want protein. Where's the protein!" I answered, "Yeah, cause you know what's going to happen when they eat that candy-sugar rush and then a huge crash and they're going to be so sleepy-what if they have to go to the immunity challenge after that?" I have no idea of the time and spacing of the events. If the immunity challenge is the next day no problem. I also assumed it was just a product placement for the candy company. Rodney's impersonation of Mike was hilarious and spot on! I was surprised how funny he was and actually started hating him less. Also when he was talking about his plan to not "stay blue" but take Mike out I realized he does have some serious game play in him and maybe I shouldn't write him off yet even though he has infuriated me up to now. DS is rooting for him to win. I must say Jenn's complete and utter giving up on the game and the "just send me home" is frustrating as heck and makes me want to reach into the TV and shake her by the shoulders. It's as if since her buddy Hali left she's lost the will to continue on. C'mon girl-I thought you were made of stronger stuff than that. I guess not, and another one bites the dust. Although I did think quite of bit of her when she volunteered to give her immunity necklace to Joe if she won and she came so very close to winning. Damn Tyler for winning that challenge. It would have been great to see everyone's faces at tribal when Jenn handed the necklace to Joe had it happened that way. Gosh, who is there left to root for? I sort of like Carolyn but she's been under the radar for so long I really don't know anymore. I'll have to watch longer to make up my mind. I will hope against hope that something will happen and Jenn will get her mind back and get back in the game. Now I'm off to read Dalton's review. Debbie in MD.

I don't think Jenn ever had any intention of going home. I think she is playing EVERYONE! I love her whole speech to Joe-- "I want to go home… So you throw the immunity challenge and let ME win… And then I will give you the necklace just so I can see the look on everyone's faces…" Or when Jeff offered to let her just walk away from tribal Council so there would be no vote – "OH NO... That would be quitting. I'm not a quitter."
What. Ever.
I think she wants everyone to THINK she wants to go home, and therefore is not a threat. So then she can fly under the radar and not get voted out.
I lost all respect for her last night…

Can someone explain the idol thing from last night. I get Joe trying to trick people into thinking he had a real idol, but why did he think offering it to Matt after the vote was going to help him? If it was real, why wouldn't he have just played it or kept it?

I'm sad to see Joe go, but we all knew it would happen the first time he did not have immunity. I wish he had bluffed harder with the fake idol and said no way to giving it up to Mike, that he would be using it for himself. I would have loved to see him strutting around camp wearing it and watched the scrambling between those who believed him and those who thought it was fake.
The chocolate reward has to go down as one of the worst ever. Maybe chocolate with burgers or chicken or any protein, but just chocolate bars?!
Shirin is worming her way into my favorites list. I love the way she plants little seeds of information like "we all know how close Carolyn and Tyler are . . ."
Was anyone else surprised that the group not on the reward killed and ate a chicken? And there was no reaction from the group when they came back from the reward? Did I miss something?
ETA Loved Dalton's recap and Joe's Ponderosa tape

A couple of years ago Jeff said in an interview somewhere that they get a lot of flack for product placement but if the fans want Survivor to continue then they need the money from that sort of advertising to continue to make the show. He sais he has no problem at all pushing a product during the show if it meant that they could continue to produce Survivor. I thought it was a fair point, I like that there are two seasons of the show each year...and if it means watching them push Mars products, Sprint mobile or a brand of beer or a car, then I'm willing to put up with it too.
