We talk here all the time about checking tripadvisor for hotel and other recommendations. I've looked for years, but only wrote my first review in March and it was because the hotel we stayed at had awesome customer service. Since then, I've written a couple more.
So do you write on tripadvisor or other site like yelp or whatever? Do you only do it when it is horrible or only when it is great or both or all the time?

I do it for both good and bad. Since I use TripAdvisor on a regular basis, I feel it's only fair to contribute. I've rarely had to leave a bad review. Most of mine have been glowing. But it might be because I checked with TA first to see if the place was good .

I leave reviews and need to do one for my last trip. Before booking I pour over 100's of reviews so I think it's only fair to contribute.

I've written reviews on yelp. Both positive and negative. More positive ones though. It seems like few people report their positive experiences.

I've written both good and bad reviews -- like others, I used it a lot and feel I should "give back". But I don't "know" them the way I "know the (former)Pea-ple, so I like to always check here as well. I'm glad to see that some of "our (former) Pea-ple" are TripAdvisor reviewers

I do most of the time. I try to leave reviews I would like to read, good or bad. I get annoyed at people who leave "stupid" reviews like a hotel we stayed in last summer. The review was "There is pigeon crap on the windowsill of our room. The hotel should do something about the pigeons." Or "Arrived late and had to park at the far end of the parking lot." These have no value and no bearing on whether I would stay there or not.

My DH religiously writes Trip advisor reviews for every pub, hotel, restaurant we ever go to. He's honest, sticking to the facts when it's not good but full of praise when it is.

This thread made me laugh - a couple of days ago I was reading Trip Advisor reviews and found some posted by Pudgy Groundhog. I was like hey, I know her! I do post on Trip Advisor. I have done a couple of reviews and a few long trip report type posts. I agree with those who say when you use it a lot - you 'owe' some in return!

Yes, DH does, especially if it was really good or really bad. Then he is sure to write a review. Otherwise, depends on how the mood takes him.

I do on TripAdvisor and try to post pictures if they are unique to what other people have posted. We stayed at a Best Western in Carmel a few years ago that got ripped by some people because they didn't think it was upscale enough. We had a lovely room and it was a short 2 blocks from Ocean Avenue ~ king size bed, flat screen TV, covered parking and very clean. All for $139. It was the best bargain in town! I also post on Yelp. I mostly post good reviews because I find a lot of people only post bad ones.

I post reviews on Trip Advisor all the time. I do good and bad - I'm not overly harsh on the bad reviews but I am honest. I use trip advisor when I go anywhere so I appreciate it when people are honest with their reviews.

We do pretty much the same as gar in the post above. We also use Trip Advisor when planning travels so appreciate negative points for things that are not so good if applicable as well as positive ones in reviews.

I post reviews all the time. I travel a bit for work and we also go away for weekends quite a few times a year so I'm always checking out reviews of where to stay. I post very honest reviews listing positives and negatives. Some reviews leave me shaking my head - one I saw gave 1 star due to the location being too far from nightlife! That is hardly the hotels fault and totally the reviewers fault for not looking into the location.
I also review restaurants and pubs when I eat there. I like to check out reviews myself so think it is only fair that I leave my own.

Yes I have. Both good and bad. I've left more on Yelp though. I use both sites so figure it's only fair to give my input as well.

I occasionally leave positive reviews. But very occasionally. I do email places more frequently to leave positive remarks about particular employees.

Yes, mostly on TripAdvisor but also Yelp and Urban Spoon. I write both positive and negative but mostly positive. I use TripAdvisor often so I feel like I should contribute too.

I have left reviews on TripAdvisor. I still need to review my last trip. The last review I left was a mixed review. I told of the positives and the negatives. What was a negative for me was not necessarily a negative for someone else so I wanted to make sure my review explained what my thoughts were.

Yes, I've left good and bad reviews. I refer to Trip Advisor all the time and we found the best tour guide we have ever had for Pompeii, Italy on Trip Advisor.

I'm an avid yelper and have what they call you 'elite'., which means you regularly leave constructive reviews and "check in" to places. Those places can be a great resource when people regularly review both good and bad in a constructive way.

I leave reviews on Trip Advisor, AirBnB and HomeAway. I don't think I've ever left a Yelp review, but I do check them for restaurants.
