I hadn't heard of this, either. I think it's just disgusting that young men think it's okay to talk like this. Their poor mothers must be mortified.

Obviously the guy's behaviour was abhorrent and misogynistic. I'm not sure how I feel about Hydro firing him, though. I don't know how I feel about firing someone for behaviour that happens while the person isn't at work. If he were to do that to a female colleague, no question - fire him. If he did it during a business function like a conference - fire him. But I think it's a slippery slope when we allow employers to have that much control over how in non-work situations. I don't have any problem with criminals being fired from their jobs.

I would have a hard respecting anyone that felt this behavior was appropriate. That is a huge character flaw. I couldn't trust his character any longer. If I was an employer I couldn't imagine a task where his poor character wouldn't have an impact.
If that guy worked where I do now, he'd be gone immediately. If he worked at my last job, it would really depend on how associated he was with the company. If he was in corporate seats at the game - gone. If he was at a corporate-sponsored event - gone. If he was just Joe Blow out with his friends he probably wouldn't be let go but he wouldn't receive any promotions and he'd probably be the first to go in a round of reductions.

Disgusting. This is the first time I'm hearing of it. How is that even "funny."
I guess there must be some kind of morality clause in that person's contract, similar to what teachers have, that says they will lose their job for lewd, drunken, etc. public behavior. Now if only our sports figures had the same kind of clause...

I think some people feel much braver when they have a crowd around them. He probably thought everyone would laugh. What an idiot. I have heard my boys say things that are not appropriate towards women that they have heard in movies. We do have conversations about it. I am pretty sure most men finally figure this crap out when they have daughters. Ugh.

It's beyond disgusting. When did misogyny become OK? Don't these guys have mothers, sisters? How can they think it's OK to behave like that in public? I don't get it at all. I don't know any young men who would act that way, or any young women who would put up with guys like that. Misogyny has always been okay with some people, that's the problem.

Well you probably should not yell "I have a cock" on live TV either but none of these neanderthals are yelling that. Which says to me it's really all about harassing the women, not the yelling inappropriate crap for fun.

As an employee of Hydro One, a crown corporation, the fuckboy in question would have signed a Code of Conduct that would cover his behaviour on and off the job. Good-bye $106,000/year job.

Imagine this guy works with several female colleagues, all of whom see this clip and now have to go to work next to this guy. Think how they would all feel working alongside him knowing this is how he behaves outside of work. I know I would feel very uncomfortable with that. And if my employer opted to fire him I would be relieved.

Well the creator of this stupid "trend" seems to think that we're overreacting up here in Toronto. Source*facepalm* IF YOU DIDN'T INTEND FOR YOUR PHRASE TO TARGET WOMEN, THEN YOU DON'T SAY "HER" AND THEN MENTION "HER" GENITALIA.

So, if the goal was to scream out something profane, wouldn't a simple "Fuck you" have sufficed and not ended up pointed toward any one person or group?

The goal wasn't just to scream out something profane - it is part of a much bigger, very offensive 'trend' which has been around now for over a year - this article linked here explains it about half way down the page.....I don't want to put it in quotes in this post. FHRITPI personally think that the so called comedian ought to be ashamed of himself for thinking that was in any way a funny thing to do and for uploading such a thing to YouTube; And the three million idiots who have watched his video on You Tube and made it into a trend worldwide just defeat description!

The troglodyte who takes credit for starting this is allegedly a comedian. I doubt this claim, but I have wasted enough time on learning more. Basically, he has tried to parlay all this into getting rich off Tshirt sales, hits on his YouTube video and channel, etc. I linked up his *ahem* website in either this or the other thread (can't remember which one now that I'm typing). Not that it's interesting or anything, and he certainly doesn't deserve any hits. I would go back and copy/paste a portion of the 'about' page, but it's lame anyway, and I don't want to give it another hit. He's just perpetuating the (now debunked) story that it all started when a reporter made the FHRITP statement to his cameraman when he thought they weren't on air. (Really it's the Cain guy pretending to be a reporter). It's beyond a sad way to seek his 15 minutes, but to me, it's even more disturbing that any men jumped on board and perpetuated his lameness. Proof positive that our society has such a long, long way to go on yet another important issue.

If a comedian has to go to such great lengths to use such a phrase as something funny then he isn't a very good comedian. Sometimes I believe that testosterone in men causes brain damage.

I also hope this is a time when the guy has an aha moment where he figures out that his excessive liquor consumption has resulted in actions that affect his job )up and above his words were horrible).
When I used to work in the bar, drunken douchebags that behaved this way were a dime a dozen. Unfortunately.

There are many Canadian companies that have very good Code of Conduct contracts that cover ethics, morals both on and off the job. I have no issue with Big Brother in that regard. If you don't want to abide by the code don't sign it, go be employed elsewhere.
