DS grew a foot and a half in one year - he has some wicked stretch marks on his back. He's pretty nonchalant about them.

They look like stretch marks, but I've never seen them in that location (mid-back), I've generally seen stretch marks on males on the "love handle" area.

DH has them. He's 39 and aren't noticeable. I only know they are there because, well, when you do things you see things most people don't I have them too. Mine are mostly faded. Helps if you keep the skin moisturized so it keeps some elasticity as he grows.

My son grew over a foot in a little less than a year and he has them all over his back and chest.
One day a teacher (young and single) saw him changing for gym and hauled him into the office and in front of the principal and vice principal asked what those marks on his back were. He was sure he was being beaten. Funnily enough the vice principal just happened to be pregnant at the time and told ds if he wanted them to fade he could use Vitamin E cream on them. I am hoping once he stops growing so fast that they will fade somewhat. They don't bother him

Yup. Bio Oil works wonders to make them disappear if applied daily.

So my son has these marks on his back I just noticed. He's almost 16. They don't hurt (he didn't know they were there) they aren't raised or indented. I Googled briefly and it does say common in them? Never heard of that! Mostly from a growth spurt (he is taller every few weeks I swear!) Anyone else had this or seen this happen? My son has the same thing in the same place and just turned 16. I noticed them a few months ago, he actually pointed them out to me and asked what they were. I thought it an odd spot but the doc had no concerns at his appt in December.

My almost 17 yr old son first got them when he was around 13. They are starting to fade now.

My DH gets those same red marks across his back every time he does a heavy back focused strength workout. So, at least once a week. The first time I noticed it, I thought he had been flogged at the gym! LOL
After about a day the red fades and the stretch marks are very faint.

ok, i google image searched, and that's pretty scary how close bartonella looks to stretchmarks and how it can be in the same place! something to file in my memory, just in case.

We didn't put anything on them. But, yes, both my boys had a very rapid growth spurt in high school that resulted in stretch marks on the spine, one had marks on the back of the knees and one had them on the shoulders.

Four boys here and they ALL got stretch marks during a raging growth spurt. Most all of them faded to non-noticeable after a time.

Stretch marks? Seriously, has someone sunk so low as to resurrect a thread from over a year ago?

It was one-post-wondergirl, obviously having just had the Bartonella issue with her DS and frantically Googling everything she could find, without noticing the dates on things. It happens. {shrug}
Interesting though, I'd never heard of Bartonella.

My husband has horrible stretch marks from his teen years. My youngest dad has bad ones too. It is common enough.

Totally normal for kids that have quick growth spurts. One of my boys gets them every time he grows. They do fade over time. My sons looked exactly like the ones in the photo.

Dermelastic serum is the best stretch mark product I've ever used. It helped me from the end of my 2nd trimester, instantly relief the pain and prevent the growth of back stretch marks. Thanks to dermelastic and I'm stretch mark free!

Yes, stretch marks. DS got a few during his quickest growth spurts. They faded fairly quickly, and they're barely noticeable now. My older boys didn't get them, so I was very surprised to see them on the younger boys. (Also on the back, like in your picture.) They're twins and have grown 7+ inches this year.

I've had stretch marks since I was a teenager, from growth, gaining and loosing weight. I've used Dermalmd Stretch Mark Serum for a month and dark marks got lighter...the lighter stretch marks I believe are fading. I'm going to continue to use this serum to see if it can actually remove years of scaring. I used to think it was impossible but Dermalmd Stretch Mark Serum gives me hope.

I have heard and seen it on several different teens. It's those huge growth spurts that they get that do it. DS #1 had some appear behind his knees one summer when he grew several inches. The good news is that his faded pretty quickly--far more quickly than mine from my pregnancies did.

Is anyone else feeling the urge to run out and buy some sort of serum to rub on their stretch marks?

My youngest son has them too. The doctor said they were from growth spurts. He also had them around his knees in high school from wrestling. He still gets some when he works out really hard, like his biceps, chest, or back. Those fade quickly though.

Yes. I have 2 sons and they each have stretch marks. Theirs are in the waist area and on the upper thigh. It's very common.
