Ladies I got my "walking" boot yesterday. Now, I can't walk at all until about July. My bones have to fuse together. The boot is instead of a cast. I have to continue to keep my foot elevated.
The boot is hurting my heel and sometimes the top of my foot and the front of my ankle. Any suggestions? I've put air in, taken air out it just hurts.
So any tips you have I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

The boot is really heavy.
I broke the side of my foot and bent my toes onto the top of my foot and stretched all the tendons. I was told to take the boot off while I elevated my foot.
I would call the orthopedic nurse and see if they can't give you an air cast that is lighter weight or even put you in a cast since you're not supposed to walk.
Having a huge boot on 24/7 sounds like torture.

It is an air cast boot if that makes sense. I use a tool to put air in and take it out. It is uncomfortable only because I can't figure out how to get it so it doesn't "cut" into my foot. It cuts at times on the top of my foot, the front of my ankle and at times on my heel.
I only have a silk sock on with tape on my foot where the stitches used to be.
Anyone else have tips?
TIA

Does it have the velcro straps? Mine came with extra foam padding that I could stick under the traps or at the heal. If you don't have extra, I'd probably just go to Joanns and get a square and cut it to fit. It was about 3/4" thick.

Yes, it does have velcro straps. Awww, that's a good idea. I didn't get any extra foam, but I may try that.
Thanks eleezybeth!

I wore a boot for 6 months total before and after my ankle surgery. 12 weeks of this I wasn't able to bear any weight. I wrapped an ace bandage loosely around my ankle to give padding and avoid rubbing with the boot. Good luck! I don't envy you!! healing thoughts!
