I don't hate Apple products, I have an iPod that I use all the time. I prefer my PC and Samsung phone. But I do know some Apple users who are insufferably condescending to people who prefer PCs or Android. It swings both ways, JMHO. This is exactly what I was going to say.

In my area you get a lot of Apple hate because Microsoft has their HQ here.
But our family has a mix of Apple and PC products. We are all IPhone users as our Androids always seemed to be glitchy. My DH has a first gen iPod and that thing is a work horse. My iPhone 4S is still going strong, but I upgraded to a 6 for the larger screen.

For us, the pros of Apple products far outweigh the cons. We've had android based products in the past, and never liked them like we love our iPads and iPhones, so that's what we stick with now. We only have PCs though. My kids have worked on Macs at school, and don't like them as much, so we've never switched.
My iPad is my workhorse. I do everything on it, including digital scrapbooking, and currently designing the interior of a dollhouse I'm working on. The only time I pull out my laptop now is to run my craft cutter. I can't see myself ever switching back to non-Apple tablet, hoping they have the apps and the power I need.

... The same is true for the car's built in GPS. That stupid thing can't ever find what we're looking for with voice commands, even when the destination is spelled out letter by letter. It is beyond worthless but the Google Maps, Waze or even the native Maps app on my iPhone all work GREAT. And to add insult to injury, we just got a notice in the mail that we can update the maps on the (3 year old) car's GPS for "only" $149--and the shipping is FREE! Wow, what a bargain. I can buy a brand new Garmin or Tomtom with lifetime maps for less than that at Costco. Yeah, I'm not impressed. .... Not to hijack the thread, but we got this email to (ford edge) and laughed and tossed it! A bargain indeed! LOL!

This and we don't believe in proprietary technology. It irks me to no end that our childrens' school is all apple. They could by more tablets if they didn't worship at the church of Jobs. But it doesn't make sense when the lab is all apple. You do know that most of that technology is given to the schools right? Apple is very good about providing equipment to schools. I personally don't give a crap use what you like. The bashing of all the brands is stupid. And apple is NOT the only company with forced obsolescence and proprietary things. Not even close. I was just getting ready to say that in all of my public schools from elementary to high school, we had all of our Apple computers donated by the company. I wasn't sure if that was true of other states beyond California. As for people being iHaters, it is just another thing to be a vocal minority of. I love my Apple products, I am not one who desires to completely customize my phone beyond the wallpaper and lock screen. I also love the lengths the company goes to when your device isn't working. I think the capable people behind the Genius Bar are completely worth the cost of an AppleCare plan. I will never go without one.

I'm an Android girl. I am not, however, an iHater. I do hate iTunes, just because I can't figure it out. But I still use it, because the alternative (media player) is worse. I have an iPod that I use everyday, because my car won't connect to my android phone. I think Apple has done a great job marketing their product and that all info is updated and available across all devices. I do hate iPeople, who think that I'm an idiot because I have a SG4 and try to talk me into an iPhone. Seriously, MYOB. I've done my research and android works better for me. Buy whatever phone, tablet, watch, TV,etc you want. Just leave me alone.

maybe people are all or nothing because with Apple you have to be. I can have a Droid and my husband can have an LG and we can share apps. We can use the same program to upload music. My daughter has a Samsung MP3 player and it can take the same music I upload to my phone without any weird work arounds. My son recent bought an iPhone. He's on his own now and will no longer be able to share music with us without having to jump through hoops (that may or may not work.) No sharing aps. If you have Apple products it only makes sense for the whole household to have Apple. Dh and dd have iPhones. They have both gone through 3 iPhones to my one Android. I've had 3 cell phones total in my life including a flip phone. They have had 3 iPhones in the past 3 yrs. This.

My Dh is anti-Apple. The only Apple product we have is an I-pod for our daughter. DH doesn't expound on his dislike for Apple unless expressly asked. He just quietly doesn't purchase their products.

But that isn't always the case. My friend bought a brand new Apple lap top. Next day it didn't power on. He took it back to the shop he brought it form some 18hrs earlier, he obviously had all the paperwork. receipt etc...they told him they would replace it with a refurbished one because that's their policy. He went apeshit, spent a couple of hours arguing with them, got several managers etc, threatened to take them to small claims court etc. Eventually they caved and gave him another new one. But seriously this new computer wasn't even one day old and they thought it was perfectly reasonable to replace it with a refurbished one! He hasn't been singing the praises of Apple customer service since then. I've had one item that needed to be replaced and that wasn't my experience at all. Shame he had such a hard time. I don't think it's the norm though. It's definitely not the norm. Apple has a 14 day no questions asked return policy, so it makes no sense.... Not saying it didn't happen, just that it's not definitely not the norm. I spent 2 hours today on the phone with 3 Apple support techs on a software problem that no way would most tech companies worked that hard to solve. But solve it they did, timely and for free - all the while being friendly, speaking Englidh that I could understand, and apologizing that they didn't have it solved in under 20 minutes. It really was a stinker of an issue, so the time spent was appropriate and I understood.

I'm a buffet-style tech consumer. I have an iPad and an iPod Touch. Love the iPod, but my next tablet will be a Surface Pro. I don't hate the iPad, but I want to work seamlessly between my PC, laptop, and tablet. The PC and laptop are Windows and I have no plans to move over to Mac, so switching to a Windows tablet makes sense for me. I've played on a friend's Surface Pro and it was awesome.
My phone is a Galaxy Note. I'm not tempted by an iPhone.
Basically, my toys are Apple and I enjoy them a lot. My serious workhorse devices are android/Windows. It works for me and I don't see me changing to all android/Windows or all Apple any time soon.
And I have no desire for an Apple watch.

Well, I prefer Apple over PC personally - at least presently - but neither platform is perfect. I think some of what I've seen/understand of android phones is pretty cool, but they not are just not for me. My reasons for my preferences are lengthy and unique to me. I understand that and don't judge others for their preferences. C'est la vie.

I love my ipad mini and my iphone. Love them. But my Macbook Pro? I hate it. It gives me nothing but problems. I recently decided to go back to a desktop in my home office, and went back to Windows and I LOVE it.
So I will continue to use iphones and ipads. But that's where it ends for me.

Since everyone was quick to point out that apple donates equipment to schools, while I cannot speak to the lab, I know the PTO bought the handful of ipads the school owns. It is an affluent district so it would surprise me if things were donated. That said, our kids swing both ways as we are PC/Android all the way at home and they do apple at school.
