My dad got us kids an army green Gremlin to drive in high school. My mother said she just couldn't do that to me and always let me drive her car. One night someone got hundreds of number stickers form the local radio station and put them all over the car. It looked better.

DH bought one of those blue PT's when they first came out in 2001. It was a novel little car. Now we have a Mini Cooper as the zippy car. Please give me the low down on your Mini Cooper. I think they are so darn cute. One of my friends drove her mom's mini cooper and said it felt like she was always climbing out of a clown car. I can't look at them now without thinking of that

My dh has the 2-seat panel type of the HHR. 2009. It works great for our window cleaning business but with no side windows in the back, I hate driving it. We are going to keep that thing until it dies!

if you want a lot of space inside and good gas mileage, consider a Honda Fit hatchback. The back seats fold down, but they also fold UP so you can stand something tall (plant in a pot, etc) on the floor in the back seat. The back seat is split so you can fold just one down or up, as needed, to haul whatever you need. I can take pretty much my entire SB room with me to my 3-day retreat.
...and I wish they still made the Honda Element, because I want one (I don't like the style of the new CRV), and I don't want to go outside the HOnda family. I want to go back to an SUV eventually, and the Element is the one that would have fit our lifestyle (3 dogs) best.
(and to me, when I see them, Smart cars always remind me of baby shoes-- lol!!)

I can't look at them now without thinking of that that's how I feel sometimes when we are climbing out of it, with our dogs, and our shopping bags. one time we were able to haul home one of those huge round, Weber BBQs with the side cart attached to it. it was funny watching the guy at Crate and Barrel standing in the loading area waiting for a big car to pull up and here shows up our Mini Cooper. sure enough, we were able to put that whole thing in there and still drive home comfortably. next week we are attending a graduation and you can bet we will take that car so we can squeeze into the smallest space available at school or the surrounding neighborhood. that's another reason we got it---it's great for squeezing into tight spots at crowded events.

Mine is a Countryman, though, so it's not quite as low as the regular Mini. No clown car effect. I love my Mini but it is very bumpy to ride in.

I thought it was bumpy at first but that's because we had the run flat tires. once we switched to regular tires, the ride got smoother.
we have 4 Minis on our block. it's like the Italian Job around here. one was a regular mini like the rest of us but then she got pregnant. she didn't want to give up her Sport but it was hard to put a baby seat in the back with just the front doors. so she ordered the same exact color and scheme in the Countryman. now totes around the fam in the bigger model but still with all the Mini features she loves.

I have always had a thing for PT Cruisers, but my husband can't stand them. I did rent one one time and enjoyed the driving experience, but then I've driven Miatas for nearly 20 years now and Fieros before that, so I'm used to being low to the ground.
My BFF's kids gave me a Hot Wheels PT Cruiser that sits on my desk. It's the red one. I never told them that had I truly purchased one, it would have been purple.

Oh, if you want the rundown on Time's worst car rankings: bad cars Hey. My other secret obsession, the Plymouth Prowler, is on here. Guess I have a unique taste in cars.

Yeah, I still have the run flats. Do you feel concerned about regular tires and no spare tire? I guess a lot of cars are like that now, anyway. The City of Houston does an exceptionally poor job of fixing potholes, so a lot of times it feels like I'm off-roading while driving down a city street. I also have the Countryman because I have to drive my kids around. Have you seen the four-door hardtop? If I get another one, I really like the looks of that one.

Oh, if you want the rundown on Time's worst car rankings: bad cars Hey. My other secret obsession, the Plymouth Prowler, is on here. Guess I have a unique taste in cars. Oh Julie, that too funny. My DH really, really wanted a PT Cruiser. When we were looking for a car, we were living in TX. I started noticing that there were a LOT of PT Cruisers in the used car lots. And I meant a lot. It wasn't unusual to see 6 - 10 of them on a tiny little used car lot in the D/FW area. I told my DH that it seemed odd that so many were turning up on used car lots. There had to be a reason for that. Research showed that the slow pick-up was an issue with many previous owners. (We ended up with my choice - a Jeep Grand Cherokee.) Then we moved back to Indiana - and yep - for several years every where we looked there were PT Cruisers on used car lots! We were looking for a used car a few years ago and this time DH set his sights on an HHR. Not me. Honestly, with 3 dogs, the HHR was too small. Then he spotted a used Plymouth Prowler and went back and looked at it 3 or 4 times. He loved that thing, but no, no, no. I would be driving the car and that was so not practical. LOL (This time we bought the Envoy that I chose. I guess I'm just have a preference for SUV's. ha) Did I mention DH also owned a red Fiero at one point? The Fiero must have sent him down the Powler-PT Cruiser-HHR path!

We own a Collision Repair Facility. Hands down, the car we repair the most often is the PT Cruiser. The front is too low and that piece gets caught on a curb when you park and then gets torn right off. I think we repair 5 a month. And there's no repairing that--you throw the bumper away and start over...until the next time. This one was just a little tear (look to the left of the headlight in the "before" picture) and we still had to replace it. The rear ones aren't as bad, but still vulnerable. So just go into it, knowing you will probably have to repair that piece a time or two.

The only car I would be embarrassed to drive is a smart car. I really don't know how people don't feel silly driving them...they look like clown cars.

I don't think I've seen it. is it the Classic with 4 doors?

We were in Paris in 2005 and that was the car to have. My kids fell in love with them. It was pretty impressive to see people zip into tiny spaces and still have room. We were all impressed. Then we came home to our double twin cab truck and SUV. Huge difference in Paris and Colorado.

I guess if we ever had to get a 4-door, we'd go for that model.

My midlife crisis car was going to be a Plymouth Prowler. Then I decided to skip the midlife crisis. And the car got horrid reviews. And was discontinued. And I had twins.
So, no Plymouth Prowler for me.
