When we were on holiday last year we both got 'dressed up' and I loved it. I don't find it uncomfortable at all and wish I could do it more often.

I usually get dressed up for dinner several times if we are on a cruise.

I wore a dress to a party yesterday, but it was just a casual cotton dress for a lawn party. Before that, I think I wore a dress to our school graduation in May, to a professional conference in February, and before that I can't recall. Really only three or four times a year, so I don't keep a big selection of dresses in my closet. I am more comfortable in pants personally, and honestly don't love getting dressed up and putting on makeup and stuff. I think I am missing some portion of the girl genes because it doesn't do much for me.

I have to wear "business casual" at my new job, so my wardrobe has gotten a tiny upgrade from when I could wear jeans every day. I go on cruises pretty frequently, and so for formal nights I get dressed up; but even that seems to be getting more casual as the years go by. And then as others have said, for weddings. I don't really like dressing like a girl, so I'm fine with that!

Last night. I went to a Ball. With the Handsome Prince? I wanna go to The Ball! I get dressed up sometimes to go to dinner, just because I feel like it. I get semi dressed up to visit clients or to see a play or to go to church or to go to a dinner party.

She is such a girly girl she had to have gotten a double dose! She would wear a frilly dress and "high heels" every day of her life if I let her. If I tell her to wear play clothes because we're going to be digging in the garden or going to the park, she whines because her play clothes aren't "fashiony" or "stylish". Um, OKAY then! Maybe I should have invested in a BeDazzler...

I rarely have anything that would be considered a 'special occasion'. We have a wedding to attend next weekend which would count, I suppose. Prior to that it would have been a work related Christmas party a couple of years ago.
I do wear dresses a lot, more so in the summer months, with heels, will put on make up, do my nails, accessorize, etc. I'll wear outfits like that to go to dinner with dh, or even to the grocery store sometimes, lol, if I just feel like wearing something 'pretty'.

I rarely get dressed up. Last weekend, we attended a wedding, and I had to plan for several other events. Very unusual for me! We have another wedding in the fall, and our anniversary. That's it for the foreseeable future. Normal me wears shorts, jeans, or yoga wear. If I did go to city restaurants when traveling, I could travel with a backpack.
ETA - my DH wears suits almost every day, buthe doesn't mind my casualness.

So dressing up was a step above this and at least a couple times a month. Ha, met DH during this time, married and stayed home when the kids came along and completely reverted to my early 20s jeans & t-shirts wardrobe, pony-tail and limited make-up. We do have a couple of semi-formal dinner/dances every year and then one or two dinners that need a dress & heels but I am way more comfortable in pants.

I wear dresses all the time. They are cooler than pants, I wear them for work because they are very comfortable and we do go out for events quite a lot. (I.e. we belong to a golf club aka country club and there are functions or parties there that we go to). I would say i own at least 20 dresses or maybe more. I do sell them and you sell what you wear and wear what you sell...

Like really dressed up probably only once or twice a year but I get fairly dressed up - like a dress, or a skirt and blouse, or even a nice sweater with funky necklace at least a couple times a week.

I was going to say never but that would be wrong. I kind of dressed up for DD graduation last month. I wore a dress and wedges but changes into flats before we went out for dinner. I wore a long black dress to a wedding in February. It was kind of fancy. DF was the best man and I wanted to make sure I looked good when I was able to be next to him.

Before dh retired, I dressed up at least once a month for balls and other functions. Sometimes it was long gown, sometimes a cocktail dress and other times a 'dressy' dress or skirt. I enjoyed it at the time but now that it is closer to once every 6 months or so, I'm fine with that too.

scrapbookdiva--I love that dress in the photo. Where did you find it? It's a Joseph Ribkoff dress from last winter. It is so comfortable! It's made of jersey with sheer panels over a nude jersey shift. I wore it again for my nephews wedding and at our staff Christmas party this year. I'm not sure when I'll wear it again, but I feel like I got my money's worth out of it.

I have season tickets to the Alberta Ballet so I dress up about eight times per year for that ... I also dress up to attend dh's work holiday party

where do you go once you are dressed up? The last time for me was a wedding and that was about 5 years ago. I have no life. I almost never get dressed up. DH hates to get dressed up and will avoid anything possible that requires him to be dressed up. But, that doesn't mean we have no life. It only means that our life doesn't include things we have to dress up for. We are both much happier in shorts and t-shirts, jeans, or swim suits. Our life revolves around things that we can do wearing these things and we stay pretty darn active.

When I lived in NY (birth thru age 28), it was pretty often (once a month, at least!), and when I lived in NJ, my new husband and I went to Manhattan and to Hoboken often enough and did the whole dress up/eat out thing often enough. But here in FL? In the 4 years we're here, I haven't had ONE opportunity to dress up and go out. I wear flip flops most of the time and my entire wardrobe is wasted.

really dressed up - ds's wedding last fall. We do "look nicer" for when we go to the opera or some dance performances.

And at my age I really don't care. I like being able to put my pj's on right after supper and sit and read and listen to DH snore while he 'watches' tv. But every now and again I think about the 'olden days' and miss all that action. Truth be told I probably just miss being young.

I never get dressed up. I wore a dress to my cousin's funeral 2 years ago. I have one sort of flowy long skirt I would wear if I had to dress for like a wedding. But I dress very casually, even for work.

Weddings and funerals. Even for church it's just black pants and a nice top.
Last time for me was my older sister's funeral a bit over a year ago. I had to dig out the pantihose and remember thinking "Jackie, you better appreciate this, because I wouldn't put these on for just anybody!"

(current definition of dressed up: wearing a bra) Please clarify Is that wearing just a bra and nothing else Is that wearing a bra under other clothing I see a big difference in the two situations but maybe that's just me.

It's non-profit fundraising dinner season so I have gotten dressup 3 times in the last month. I have another one this week and then nothing until September. I'm a sucker for non-profit dinners!
