I want to repaint our main bathroom. It is the only bathroom we have for guests, but it is also the bathroom my boys use. It's a full bath, but small and no natural light. The boys are drawn to shower curtains that have shades of black, white, or gray. Haven't picked anything for sure yet. Since it's mostly their bathroom, I want it to be masculine, but also nice for guests. I thought about a deep red for the walls, but I'm afraid it will be way too dark in that space. Any suggestions?
Here is an example of a shower curtain they both liked. If we did go with this curtain, I'm thinking red would be way too dark since it was so much black.

I would probably pick out one of the two greys in the curtain. If the bath, toilet etc are white, then I would have the darker grey. I would then add splashes of colour with bright orange towels.

Good idea! I originally wanted gray walls, but wanted a more colorful curtain. I could accent with colorful towels and accessories though.

When I moved into my current house it had dark orange walls in the small, windowless bathroom. Th color really overwhelmed the room and make an already small bathroom seem tiny. I repainted it with a silvery blue and have mostly white accessories. It's amazing how much the lighter paint transformed the room.

I'm a fan of blue. My current house also had (like charlatan, above) orange walls when I moved in. We used French Blue by Benjamin Moore, and I love the way it looks now. I think that would go nicely with the neutral colors of the shower curtain.

I'm so boring, I like the soft grey or white in the photo of the curtain. Are the cabinets dark like those? Love the idea of color in accessories, that's what I do. And you can change by season or mood.

The beauty of that is that you can cycle through various colors, too. Aqua would be nice, too, or a brighter tropical green.

I just painted my tiny bath. My Shower curtian is offwhite with black and gray flowers. I decided on a light blue/gray color and then I have black accents with white and gray towels. I LOVE IT! I don't have a pic handy or I would post it.

I would do a bright color like robin's egg blue or a lighter shade of lime green or maybe an orange. Something bright to make the black/gray/whites pop!

I think light gray walls would look best in a small room. If you want to add red to the walls, you could paint a pair of narrow stripes horizontally (about eye level) all the way around the room. Pin stripes or narrow racing stripes either one would work. Just depends on how bold you want to be with them.

Our powder room had a dark red paint and it was a small room to begin with. I didn't like it, but my husband did, so we kept it that way for a few years. When he thought it was fine to repaint, I repainted light blue on top, pretty beach border above chair rail level, and light beige on the bottom. It looks much bigger with the lighter colors.

Don't do red!! We have an absolutely tiny half bath that we painted red. Loved it for about six months. For a tiny space like ours, I would do a warm, light color. If your bath is a full bath, I would probably use a light-medium gray that would complement the shower curtain- I would not use a gray that had a lot of white in it.

I would go with a just barely gray on the walls. Bring color in with towels, vanity accessories or art work on the walls

I agree with keeping the walls neutral and using accessories for color. Look at Sherwin Williams Misty for a very light neutral gray.

I recommended pale grey walls, so not to blend in with the white toilet/tub/vanity/etc., & chrome fixtures. Use white/grey/black towels everyday, then add colors (e.g. red = Valentines/Christmas/baseball, pale green = St. Patrick's Day/spring/soccer, orange = summer/October/basketball) that reflect their interests/holidays/seasons. Pair with versatile chrome accessories, & their white/grey/black color scheme will be both masculine for them & sophisticated for guests!
