I'm making chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner tonight. Nothing says comfort to me like Yukon gold potatoes mashed with real butter and heavy cream with homemade chicken gravy over them I have some cauliflower I think I'll roast tossed with chilli infused olive oil for a little kick. I love that stuff! I invited my grandsons to join me so I'll be making a ton of mashed potatoes. They love them! I've got homemade strawberry swirled ice cream and sugar cookies for dessert. What's on your plate tonight?

We brought pizza back from our favorite out-of-town pizza place. This is the best pizza and my family is waiting for dinner.

Dh is picking up steak & cheese subs on his way home. Before dinner we'll have some wine & cheese and crackers on our new patio while our goofy dog plays in his plastic pool. Dh and I were laughing about it the other day - we used to watch our kids play in the pool and now that the kids are grown, we watch the dogs. I must say, we look ridiculous! ETA: This morning I made something new (to us) for breakfast and thought I'd share. You cut the crust off of slices of bread, take a rolling pin and flatten the bread. Spread with cream cheese, and add a thin layer of chopped fresh strawberries at one end of the bread. Roll the bread from one side to the other. It will stay closed because of the cream cheese. Make the mixture that you'd normally make for french toast and dip the rolls in the mixture. Fry up like you would french toast. When done, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, let cool and then top with whipped cream and more strawberries. (you can also drizzle with chocolate syrup) It looked wonderful and according to my breakfast crowd tasted even better!

I am going to grill salmon.
I am also making an Asian Noodle Salad that I saw on an episode of the Pioneer Woman. It has napa cabbage, kale, red cabbage and spaghetti noodles in it! It is suppose to have bean sprouts but I guess they are no longer going to be available here. The produce guy said they discontinued them due to contamination issues. I said,"Well how am I going to make my salad then?" I was just joking but boy did that ever take him by surprise!
Can you buy bean sprouts??? I am really going to miss them, they add some great crunch to many dishes that I make!

Oh, and akathy, what kind of ice cream machine do you have? I am thinking about getting one that I can use inside the house not the old crappy one that leaks and you put outside.

I made homemade egg rolls the other night and couldn't find any sprouts. And dd loves toasted open face bagels topped with cream cheese, bean sprouts, tomato and melted cheese - have been looking for bean sprouts since she got home in May. None to be found anywhere.

We are having tacos tonight because I happen to have everything we need for them. DS is leaving for 2 weeks in Florida with a friend's family tomorrow, and apparently I didn't plan out any meals because of it!

I'm slicing up some chicken sausages and sauteing them with all kinds of veggies - zucchini, spinach, red pepper, onions, mushrooms and sweet potatoes. And garlic, lots of garlic. DH and I like to sprinkle some feta cheese on top, but the kids like theirs plain.

For us it's honey sriracha tofu, steamed rice and possibly bok choy and snap peas (grocery shopping after work, so it really depends on what veggies look the best once I'm there).

How do you make the honey sriracha sauce? Sounds like something I would love with just veggies or chicken.

Chicken of some sort. I have two (as they are labeled by DH) BS chick boobies thawing on the counter. I'm thinking of doing chicken soft tacos in the pressure cooker. Easy and quick. Maybe baked butter chicken. Not sure. As for veggies.... Ginger ale carrots probably.
DH is the chef in this house. I don't like to cook and I'm not very good at it but when he works, I make dinner.

akathy - that sounds good! I also love Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with real butter - mmmm.
I'm having chicken and potatoes too but different from yours. I've been wanting to try to re-create Mark's Feed Store potato salad for a long while now. So last night I made it (it has to chill before eating)
Tonight we are having BBQ Chicken, little niblets corn on the cob and a copy-cat version of Mark's Feed Store potato salad.

I'm having a small pity party. It's my first time in many weeks to work all day and then come home and make dinner...poor, poor me. I just threw together a wild rice/mushroom/chicken casserole. I did plan ahead and cooked/diced the chicken yesterday and also cooked the rice. Now that I'm back at school, I'll have to really get back to smart menu planning.

So many great sounding meals. We're having smothered pork chops, rice, roasted brussel sprouts, and corn souffle -- all chosen by my youngest son. He turned 14 on Saturday but was at Hilton Head Island with his dad all last week. So tonight I have him home for his birthday feast here. My mama's here, too. Dessert is cake with chocolate fudge icing topped with one of those flaming, spinning candle thingies that plays the "Happy Birthday" song. Lol.

I make UGLY pies, so I leave the pie making to the professionals. seaexplore, what are ginger ale carrots?
