I know there may be a few peas on here that have heard me talk about my fertility issues. I used to post on the infertility threads oh so long ago...lol.
So, we tried from 2003 to 2008, eventually enlisting a reproductive endocrinologist because I have PCOS. We took a break at the end of 2008 because it was taking a toll on me and several of my cousins were having babies and it was just too much. At the time, my DH worked for an IL based company and they have mandatory fertility coverage. The spring after we took a break, his company lost their contract with Home Depot and he was hired by the new company right away. They were a GA based company, no more fertility benefits. That basically ended any more testing or thoughts of IVF. So I turned 40 in 2009 and within two years after that we decided it just wasn't meant to be. We briefly looked into adoption, but there was no way we could afford a $30K+ price tag.
Fast forward to last spring, when we ran into an old neighbor friend at Walmart. He said that he and his wife had just gotten certified through the State of PA to foster to adopt. It didn't cost them any money other than for background checks and a CPR course. So we looked into it, took the classes over the summer and were certified as of December 28th. We were pretty excited about the prospect but had to come to terms that if we would adopt, the child probably wouldn't be younger than 4, because infants and toddlers were rarely adopted because of the length of time they had to spend in foster care before they were eligible for adoption (15 of 22 months). DH didn't want to take high risk kids (kids who were mostly likely going to be returned to their parents) because he didn't want to get attached and then have the child go back. So we were only looking at kids who were headed toward permanent placement.
We had a couple of profiles sent to us, but nothing that fit our family. Then one day I get a call from my friend that her younger sister was pregnant but knew she wouldn't be able to raise a baby at this time in her life. She wanted to see if DH and I were interested before she said anything to her sister. I of course told her absolutely yes! We then talked to her sister and she spoke with the father of the baby, who was 100% on board. He wasn't in a place to raise a baby and wanted the baby to have a nice stable childhood, as he didn't have that and knew he couldn't provide it.
So really long story short, DH and I will be welcoming a little girl (Charlotte Rae) some time around December 1st! We are absolutely over the moon because we had both pretty much accepted that we probably wouldn't ever have an infant to adopt. We are SO excited, and will still stay current with the state agency as we will probably adopt a sibling within a few years. At least that is our hope. I'm hoping that once DH has his little girl, he'll be more receptive to being foster parents in the future, because even if we don't end up adopting any more, I'd like to be a foster parent because there are so many kids out there that need them.
tl;dr - we are adopting a baby girl in December! lol

Awesome news!! Very exciting!!
My youngest is our miracle baby. I have PCOS as well. Our oldest we conceived through injectibles and IUI. 3.5 years later I was pregnant with our youngest/2nd DD. The only thing I can figure is that I had started exercising again.
