So who all is NOT looking forward to school starting?!

Me. Not because I have kids or anything, but I love my commute when school is out. That first week of school people lose their minds and I add a good 15 minutes on to my normal 7 minute commute.

I love the tasks of BTS (buying school supplies, thinking up lunch ideas, putting together school outfits) but not the reality of it- not as a parent, not as someone in the educational workplace. I love my summers!

Even when I have to spend them with my child. </sarcasm>

Don't love the return of early mornings, but do like that school challenges my kiddos to be productive and get back on a semi-normal schedule (rather than being vampires). I do very much miss them around the house during the day though!

Mine don't go back till after labour day but I still hate it. My son is autistic and school drastically changes his personality. He hates it. I hate seeing him so unhappy for ten months of the year.

Our summer is painfully short. (May 21st -August 3rd this year.) It's made even shorter by the fact that club swim season for us doesn't end until July. So I'm always sad to see it end. However - my 15 year old was cranky and annoying, but his attitude has improved 100x since he started school on Monday. I think having a purpose is good for him! (And he's always more pleasant when he gets up early and goes to bed early.)

My 13 year old homeschools, and some of his curriculum is back ordered so we don't start until next Wednesday. I'm sad for that because it's a lot of work for me AND we've really enjoyed these last few lazy days. I may have gone back to bed after getting the older one to school in the morning the last few days. Shh, don't tell anyone!

32??? omg... Do you have any help in that class? In my county the kindergarten teachers all have an aide, but the rest of elementary 1
(1-5) does not. However, the class size can't go above 26 and even that can be a lot of 1st graders all in one room if there are some "lively" ones. 

Maybe it's not the right educational setting for him?

No summer was ever too long for me! I loved summers.,especially summers with my daughter!

Me! I need more summer!
And one starting senior year. I know it will go too fast- for me.

When they were younger, I was always relieved when school started because by that time I was tired of the expense and coordination of summer child care.

Now that they're older I'm a little sad. The lower stress days are coming to an end, we jump back into the whirlwind of homework and sports and homework and tutors and homework and carpools. Plus my oldest will be a senior and that's a little bittersweet.

our youngest is Autistic and would be terribly unhappy in a traditional school setting. I wasn't sure I was up for completely homeschooling him on my own so we set him up with a virtual charter school. He has 2 or 3 virtual classes with a teacher and about 10-15 other students 4 days a week. It's such a great experience for him. He gets the social time of talking with the teacher and other kids, but has that down time he needs to just be by himself. We still do a normal 5 hour school day, but I teach part of the time and he has virtual classes part of the day. It works out great for him. Is he completely thrilled to have to do school, not really, but it does work well for us.

We've had so much rain here, the pools were delayed in opening. We've had a limited number of decent days here, I feel like they somehow got cheated out of a lazy summer. 

Pus I took 3 days off work last week to be able to take my youngest to soccer camp. It was wonderful, I sat in the sun, watched my kid and did laundry while it was still light out. A real dinner on the table, not something I'm able to do most nights. I've never wanted to be a SAHM, I've always said I don't have the temperament.  but if I could spend my days doing what I did last week I'd be happy.  I wouldn't have health insurance, but I'd be happy.

You have no clue what life is like in many homes. Be thankful for that, I guess.  Because, really, if you spent one summer weekend in my home, living my life, with my kids, you'd want school to start again too. Trust me. You'd be just as "awful" as the moms you are judging in this post.
