Evidently millions of people have said they will leave the country if Trump is elected. (Doesn't that happen every election cycle?) The thing that I think is hilarious is, when asked where they move to, some said Alaska or Hawaii. Bright people.

We should buy them tickets out so they don't get lost if that's their answer. Scary.

Not unlike all of those who said they would move to Canada if same-sex marriage passed.

I've jokingly said the same thing if Bill Clinton becomes first "lady"!! Well, not to Hawaii or Alaska!

Yes, people say this all the time. Many said that if Obama was elected again they would move. I doubt there was a mass exodus from the USA when that happened. I think people say it sarcastically as a way to state their displeasure with what may happen. I guess there may be some that actually do leave, I have just never known anyone to do so. Funny.

Ok if Trump were elected I would want to leave, too, but honestly where are these people going to emigrate to? Canada? It's not that easy to get in here if you aren't a qualified person (have a skill that is in demand), have a lot of money, have a spouse who is Canadian or you are a refugee. Being pissed off at the president hardly qualifies someone as a refugee unless the president was someone like Saddam Hussein. Then that would qualify I would hope. The Donald?

Guam! Move to Guam People have said that about both Bush and Obama. We were in New Zealand for a good chunk of Bush and have been in Canada for a chunk of Obama. People saying things like this is one of my favorite things about being American. I love that people feel free to criticize our country. Right and left, the freedom to complain unites us.

I jokingly said it here because i'd be hella embarrassed if trump were president. But in practicality I can't really move right now.
I pray the voters have more intelligence than that.
Oh and it's the first time I've ever even jokingly said it. I may disagree with Obama but he not as embarrassing as Trump.

I"m always amazed at the presumption anyone can move to any other country anytime they please... as if the US is the ONLY country globally with immigration laws/restrictions.

I don't think most of us have the presumption that we can just up and move to another country. Any of us who say this, I mean. I've said it about Trump -- "seriously, if Trump wins start packing, we're moving to Canada." But I know very well we can't just move anywhere. In addition to those immigration laws, there's dh's job, and ds's school, and dd's school, and our dog who I assume would be quarantined. It's just something to say to express how amazed we are that Trump is as far as he is in this race. Just something to say to show how awful things would be with him as president.

It drives me crazy not when people say they are going to move... but when people criticize the USA and people say.. if they don't like it here they should just leave. Like that is even a possibility. Just like you can't legally just decide and move to the US, Americans can't say.. don't like what's going on here I think I'll move to Canada, or Mexico or Botswana. Hell those countries don't want us any more than we don't want them here! Ok off my soap box. ETA: As I was typing this I did have an imagine in my mind of 100's of thousands of Americans trying to sneak over the wall Trump is going to build to get OUT of the USA!

I've heard the same thing about moving around here. Depends on who gets in in Canada you might have a flood of people moving south. Maybe we can set up an exchange system.

I would be afraid if he got into office even though he said he has no problem with "the blacks". See that's one of my biggest problems with him. His labels. I'm afraid of people whom rigorously employ labels for people. I'm afraid of someone who *has* to say things like "the blacks" or " for a woman" or 'those Mexicans' But since he likes labels so much Here's mine: Trump is embarrassing even for "an asshat"

For the first time in my life I have talked with friends about taking a very extended vacation if he's elected. I'm half serious. I cannot in any way even imagine that he could be president of our country.... That said, I totally fell in love with Sevilla, Spain last year. Renting an apartment there for a few years certainly wouldn't be what I consider a hardship I do realize that I'd come back home to deal with whatever happened during those four years, but at least it wouldn't be all up in my face during that time frame!

I would be afraid if he got into office even though he said he has no problem with "the blacks". Oh God, did he refer to people with dark skin as "the blacks"? I guess he could have said coloured people or negroes. Native New Yorker I am sorry but I find any person who refers to people of colour this way as "the blacks" an idiot and a @#$@#$#$##$. He wouldn't call Asians "the yellows". He wouldn't even refer to white people as "the whites". I am in a bitchy mood and hearing that he said such garbage just grates on my last nerve. I apologize on behalf of the human race which he claims to belong to. I don't believe he is, but I think he may have been at one time.
