I would be afraid if he got into office even though he said he has no problem with "the blacks". Yes, but you are a woman and he treats women good! So good.

I do joke about moving to Canada. My friend and her family are Canadian transplants. Couldn't we trade places?

Then I hope the door hits them in the ass on the way out.
Sometimes the person you don't like is in charge. You are still an American, don't be a douche about it.
Fwiw, there are just as many who will say they will leave if hillary is elected

I"m always amazed at the presumption anyone can move to any other country anytime they please... as if the US is the ONLY country globally with immigration laws/restrictions. I'm secretly hoping that Australia needs software executives and substitute teachers. DH and I would definitely be assets to the Aussie workforce! If Trump gets elected, please tell me Australia will take in talented refugees! Or Refupeas, as the case may be.

I agree wholeheartedly. How could Latinos support Trump? Have they lost their minds? This is the blowhard who said he would erect a fence across the border between the US and Mexico. It's not just Trump, although he is scary enough. I'll hold off until after the election to decide if I've lost faith in the people of the US.

DH has joked about looking for a job in Canada but it's always in jest.
However, if things get bad enough, living of the grid and land is sounding really appealing.

One of my FB friends was going to move to Costa Rica if Bernie was elected. Costa Rica has universal healthcare and is WAY more socialist than this country will ever be.
He's a smart guy, too. It's a head scratcher.

My BFF *is* moving to Canada for four years beginning this summer. It has nothing to do with the election, but the timing may turn out to be pretty good.

One of DD's friends posted on facebook that her first grade daughter had said "Olive said she's moving to Canada if Trumpet Mcdonald becomes president. I don't want her to move away!"

It's a head scratcher. I don't see that as too hard to understand. If one felt they could no longer make economic progress in the US (and we can put aside whether that would actually be true under a Sanders presidency), they may feel they're better off hanging out on the beach/rain forest of Costa Rica than working in Texas.

Dh works for a German company here in the US. I jokingly told him if Trump is elected he is going to have to apply for a job transfer to Germany. He agreed!

Well, my step dad is a professor at a university in Germany. I've got a job there in a stem cell lab should Trump become president.
ETA: I'm not leaving because I don't agree with Trump. I'm leaving because I think he's dangerous.

I see it as the screw it mentality. They aren't going to xyz country as they think they have better economic policies but rather they have other benefits. If a future president enacted a 90% income tax bracket, I could see my husband and I going to another country. We wouldn't choose it based on their income tax rates as we wouldn't be working. It's more that the economic policies push us into early retirement and then other considerations make more sense.

If I survived 8 years of George W Bush I can survive Trump, Cruz, Carson or even Palin. I would simply turn off the TV for 4 years.
I do think the grass is greener in Canada though. Except for the snow.

My brother who is much farther to the right than I am said he's moving to Canada if Clinton is elected. I said so you're going to move to a country that's further left of the Democrats. OK let me know how that works out. In this case he'd be moving and have to work. I totally get people who threaten to move to a tropical climate and just hang. But it is kind of funny to hear conservatives threaten to move to Canada because they don't like the lefts policies.

Not unlike all of those who said they would move to Canada if same-sex marriage passed. Let's not forget the millions who said they'd move if the ACA (Obamacare) passed, including Rush Limbaugh, who sadly did not live up to his statement.

I'm not moving if he's elected. But I will tell you I'm making sure our family has our paperwork together (renew passports, copies/translations of important papers (sons were adopted internationally).
I do believe he's potentially dangerous, and if you pay attention to history, if shit goes down, you better have everything together so you can leave in a hurry if necessary.

I remember during the Bush Administration when people complained about him, people would say if they don't like it here they should just leave. Like that is an option. Its NOT. Yes, people say this all the time. Many said that if Obama was elected again they would move. I doubt there was a mass exodus from the USA when that happened. I think people say it sarcastically as a way to state their displeasure with what may happen. I guess there may be some that actually do leave, I have just never known anyone to do so. Funny. The immigration rate from Mexico has gone negative during Obama's tenure. Well, my step dad is a professor at a university in Germany. I've got a job there in a stem cell lab should Trump become president. ETA: I'm not leaving because I don't agree with Trump. I'm leaving because I think he's dangerous. Merkel is going to kick ass and make him wish Megan Kelly was the least of his troubles.

People say that every election, it's so silly. I laughed out loud about leaving the country and moving to Alaska or Hawaii. The next thing we'll see are the Facebook posts that read "Those of you voting for ____ please unfriend me now" that happened during the last election.

Jokingly, I would love to move, if that happened, but that would never happen. It would be a very rough 4 years. Hopefully, if he DOES get elected, it will only take 4 years to boot him out.

Many, many countries will give you a long term visa if you can prove you have sufficient money to support yourself.
