oh dear, for some reason I read it as "furry" and thought what the heck. Fury is much better than furry IMHO. I really hope it suits him as his personality develops and he leans toward unrestrained passion over violent anger. I read it that way too! I read "furry" too! I thought his parents must be into that subculture where people dress as furry animals and go to conventions.

Isn't that the name of one of the Black Dagger Brothers?!?!?! But I think they spell it Phury.
OP- I don't like it either. But I chose classic names for my kids.

And yeah, I'm another "no" vote. In fact, I think it's pretty awful. And yes, I did choose classic names for my kids, and would again, but there are non-traditional names I like just fine, even though I wouldn't choose to use them. This one is not a "like." Even if it is done for a good reason, such as the family name, well, there are other family names that (probably!) wouldn't be as odd. Or if they loved Nick Fury, go with Nick. Or heck, use Fury as a middle name if you have to use it!

I like it. In the 50s there was an old B&W TV show about a boy and his horse named Fury. The name of the show was Fury.

Fury is and always will be a horse's name to me. It was a TV series 1955-1960. Yes, I am old.

Nope. My kids got common names after I spent all my school life correcting the spelling/pronunciation of my own name. Plus I was future thinking for job interviews etc. My own SisterIL still says my name wrong.

My first thought is that someone's a black dagger fan. I like it. In the 50s there was an old B&W TV show about a boy and his horse named Fury. The name of the show was Fury. That's interesting. A few months ago I saw an ad for a horse for sale. He was perfect, exactly what I've been looking for. His name was Fury. I laughed because the ad went on and on about sweet and gentle he was. Now it makes more sense!

I think it's awful. My son had a classmate named Rage. What are these parents thinking?
On the other hand, I was almost named Sunny, and I can't help to think whether my disposition would have become a self fulfilling prophecy.

I've seen a lot worse names for children. One of the worst was someone whose child had the same first/last name. I won't write it here for fear of finding her as part of this group. Her name was similar to "Sue Sue." Why? ....but, then I worked with a man who had the same first/last name--I also thought his parents were insane. (such as James James) There is a TV personality in this country who named her first child Lewis Lewis.

My cousin kept her maiden name, Thomas, so that is how she was checked into the delivery suite. The nurse asked the baby boy's name on delivery and she replied "Thomas". The nurse said "Oh. Thomas Thomas?" and she quickly corrected them with her husband's last name. We did laugh and then told her she wouldn't have been the first or last to do that to a poor unsuspecting child.

Not loving it, but part of that is because I have a long, Italian last name and can't imagine using that. I've heard worse. My older son, who LOVES all that stuff (Marvel, Arrow, the Flash, DC, whatever) wants to name a kid of his Gotham... so when he wakes up at night his wife can lean over and say "Gotham needs you". Which makes DS.. Batman. Oy vey.

My nephew has just become a dad and they named their son Logan and we're 99% sure its a Wolverine reference. The MIL kept going on and on about how unusual the name is. They're in England. We replied with a list as long of our arm of kids we know named Logan.

Oh the poor kids with idiots for parents. Xstacie? Alotte Monay? They should be horsewhipped. Know someone who named their son Cole. Unfortunately her last name is Black. Dumba**. Life is hard enough...
Don't care for it at all, but Fury isn't quite so bad after hearing those two. Fury will always be the black horse on the old Saturday morning TV show. I never missed it!
Dh liked Rex as a name for ds. No way, growing up, my neighbor had a succession of German Shepherd Rexies, so was not gonna happen. Picked an old school name which was also his Grandad's.

Even acknowledging the difference between correlation and causation, your name is related to all kinds of things from how likely you are to be suspended from school as a kid to how likely you are to be hired to how people view your workplace favorability. It's not to say that Xstacie won't become CEO of a major global company one day, but it is to say that statistically speaking, a name like hers is not the one that appears on the door of the C-suite, probably due to a variety of factors.

Exactly my thoughts. I'm not discounting their future. Xstacie could drop the X and go by Stacie. Allotte can drop the middle name. But historically, you do not see many non traditional names.

Have a SIL. When she was pregnant she announce that she wanted the baby to be born at noon on a Tuesday and then she would name her "Tuesday Noon." (eye roll)
To her face, I began to mock her and laugh--What if you get Friday 4:32? etc. etc.
Child has a normal name.
