Oh... the dreaded, worry wait for getting the pediatrician appt in the morning and wondering what it is. HATE IT! He's six and we've been having encopresis problems for about 4 weeks (soiling of pants), which we had back in March after his appendectomy. So I thought that's what I was dealing with again, but they have been much worse. Tonight, his stool was almost white (bile obstruction?) and am concerned. I will take him in tomorrow. He did say his tummy hurt today. When I pressed on his belly button and right side he said it hurt but that was from his scars dissolving- HA! He has those dark bags under his eyes and low on energy. No fever or nausea. I think something is not quite right. No medications, all family members feel fine. Just venting and can't sleep.

I hate the wait, too. So hard to do sometimes. I hope you get some answers for your son!

I hope everything is ok! Good luck tomorrow. Try to get some sleep. I know, easier said than done.

Vent away. One time when my daughter was younger she had white stool and it really scared me. I'd never seen anything like that before. In her case she was recovering from a gastrointestinal illness and things were just starting to become solid again--and white. She was OK, though, but I remember calling the pediatrician first thing in the morning and feeling worried and scared about it. It sounds like your son has had a lot going on. I hope you can get an appointment tomorrow and can get some answers. Hang in there.

Do you have a 24 hour nurse line you can call? That might help you get some reassurance until the morning. Hope your little guy feels better soon.

He's so little. I'd consider taking him to the ER. I would at least call the nurse's desk at the hospital and ask for their advice. I have done this a couple of times before. In both cases and they were great about telling me whether we should come in or not. Hope he's better soon!

I would at least call the nurse's desk at the hospital and ask for their advice. This is probably what I would do too. They are very good about telling you if it is something that needs to be addressed immediately or if it can wait until the morning to be see by your ped.
