I will absolutely be thinking of you. I've been down this road a number of times. I am frequently loaded with cysts- hopefully that is the source of the tenderness you've been experiencing. The radiologists always seem to struggle with reading my mammogram. It's gotten to the point where I schedule an appointment with my doctor/general surgeon for right after my annual mammogram so I can tell the radiologist that I'm on top of it. I've had a few mammo callbacks, and numerous ultrasounds and aspirations.
Is there any chance you can get in for the ultrasound sooner--maybe a cancellation? It might help to set your mind at ease to know what's going on one way or the other.

I hope it is nothing but fibrocystic tenderness.

Praying. I hope it turns out to be nothing more than a bit of unnecessary anxiety.

First, thank you all.
They only have a radiologist on site Monday's and Wednesday's. They could get me in Wednesday of next week, but we are driving out of state that day for the holiday. I really want to see my brother, so I didn't take that day. I could drive just over an hour away and get the ultrasound done. But with work, it's a stretch.
I got my baseline mammo done at 40, and hadn't gone back until now--4 years. I know, it wasn't a great idea, but I always found excuses not to get my DD's smashed.
Now I wait. I think the trip to my brother's will help.

Prayers that everything is okay. They say cancer doesn't cause pain. Hopefully it's just a cyst.

Prayers for a good outcome. Similar situation about two years ago with tenderness and I could feel a lump. Turned out to be fibroid cystic . Too much caffeine and not enough Vitamin E.

Both my mother and sister are breast cancer survivors. I've been called back for ultrasounds and once a biopsy and they've always come back negative in the end. I know how scary it is! You're in my prayers.

They called back and now I return for an ultrasound after Thanksgiving. That actually sounds rather promising. If it was highly suspicious, you would have already had a biopsy or would have been scheduled for one. I'm sure you have already read that tenderness is generally not associated with breast cancer. It's usually do to something related to a cyst. Cysts are a normal part of breast architecture, but when enlarged, can be exquisitely tender as many can attest!

You have my prayers and good thoughts. If it helps, I have had many abnormal mammograms, and it always ended up being cysts that could be painlessly drained and done away with. Hoping that it is the same for you.

I hope it's nothing! If they saw something they would have told you. I hate that you have to wait until after Thanksgiving, but to me, that makes is sound less serious. I hope it's the case!

My left breast was very tender for two weeks. I saw my doctor last week and he scheduled a mammo for today. The radiologist requested my previous mammo and I was told they would call after they compared images. An extra image was taken of the left side. They called back and now I return for an ultrasound after Thanksgiving. I have lost two friends to breast cancer in the past year. One was only 38. I am scared. Four years ago, I was very sick and tested for leukemia. It wasn't. I am praying this is similar. Praying~ I had an ultrasound IMMEDIATELY..so maybe it's a good sign you are being seen in a week or so. Mine was nothing...even had a biospy. It'll be ok...
