My left breast was very tender for two weeks. I saw my doctor last week and he scheduled a mammo for today. The radiologist requested my previous mammo and I was told they would call after they compared images. An extra image was taken of the left side. They called back and now I return for an ultrasound after Thanksgiving.
I have lost two friends to breast cancer in the past year. One was only 38. I am scared.
Four years ago, I was very sick and tested for leukemia. It wasn't. I am praying this is similar.

Oh, dear. I can tell you to try not to worry, but I know how useless THAT is! I am sorry you have to wait and fret for so long. So many people have these scares that turn out to be nothing serious, try to hang onto that. I'll keep you in my thoughts and please do keep us posted on what you find out. Hugs.

I hope it turns out to be nothing.
My sister had BC and I got a call to return on my last mammo. I was a little freaked out. They did another mammo and ultrasound on that breast. Turns out it was just a cyst. They are VERY diligent in follow up if they see anything out of the ordinary. Which is great but also cause women the stress of the what ifs.
Was your last mammo a year ago? Was it normal?

Wishing you well. I've been through that and a biopsy and it was just a cyst, hoping you get similar news. Hugs!

Yes to the previous poster! They are extremely careful with mammograms and often have follow ups that turn out to be clear. I have to have an ultrasound every other mammogram it seems. Hope you can put this to the back of your mind for now!

I wish they could do your ultrasound sooner, so that you didn't have this worry. Odds are that all is normal, but they're practicing due diligence. Prayers coming your way.

I had the same thing two years ago. Pain on the left side. Several mammograms, an ultrasound, and then a biopsy. Turned out to be a cyst. I later learned that a cyst can cause the pain and tenderness. Prayers and positive thoughts that your result is the same.

Praying for you! I had some breast pain years ago, and had a call back after my 1st mammo. Turned out to be a cyst. My dr then told me that pain doesn't usually indicate cancer, if that's any help for you!!!

Hope that you get an all clear very soon. I have been down this path myself twice and I know that doctors exercise an abundance of caution. Both times I had mammograms every six months for two years. The second time I was so distraught that a friend who is a radiology nurse asked a doctor friend of hers to do a consult for me. I went and collected every mammogram film and the MRI for him to look at. He said he could find no evidence of cancer. I've had a couple of cyst aspirations too. I know other women who have had breast issues that were not cancer. Try not to stress.

I'm so sorry that you have to wait until after the holiday to have your ultrasound. Waiting sucks! I have been called back on several occasions and all was well. I pray the same will be true for you. Please do try to put it on the back shelf of your brain, as hard as that may be. (((HUGS)))
