Josh Groban's version is my favorite.
I also love Aaron Neville's version of O Holy Night.

I can still remember the very first time I heard this carol. It was sung by the character Benson, the butler in Soap. So even though Robert Guillaume's version may not be the best technically, I always think of it fondly. ETA I also enjoy the rendition by Celtic Woman and Chloe Agnew.

"O Holy Night" is not a top favorite of mine...I think I've heard it butchered too many times. However, Bing Crosby's version is very straightforward and reverent. Leigh Nash's version is also simple and understated, if you like her voice. And Phil Wickham, who is a Christian singer, also has a nice, more contemporary version.

@dottyscrapper Susan Boyle and the Kings College Choir Cambridge are two of the best renditions I've ever heard. Beautiful!
Thanks everyone--I just spent the last half hour listening to this beautiful song. Just what I needed to spark my soul.

This my favorite song for the Christmas season. The version that I literally listen to over and over is by David Phelps who is a Christian artist. m.youtube.com/watch?v=ElJ0fiD0lkcI don't know how to post a link and I am on my phone. If it doesn't work just do a search on YouTube.

I love John Berry's version. I love that he sings without all the pomp. Josh Groban is good too. You picked both my favorites!

Years ago I heard a men's choir version on the radio and I have never since been able to find it's equal.
This is hands down my favorite carol, but I really hate a soprano voice so most versions I don't care for. It's a paradox.

Definitely Il Divo. Gives me goosebumps and that's not anywhere close to one of my favorite songs, but their version is just amazing!

This was a really great topic. I found some artists I have never heard of !! Kath323- I have never heard of Anuna, but their version was gorgeous!! I will have to look for more of their music. I like Andrea Bocelli's Christmas album and he sings Oh Holy Night in the original French. John Denver had a good rendition, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is good-but they usually do it in a medley with O' Come All Ye Faithful. For something COMPLETELY different- but still quite good- instrumental, no vocals- is the cover by the heavy metal group: August Burns Red- give it chance LOL. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxDzqmmRGLU

Harry Connick Jr with his version of Ave Maria, Charlotte Church, really almost any version...I love this song! I even like Mariah's overblown version. I'm not sure if there's a version I don't like.
