I did a search and came up with all things Christmas, except for dinner. What are you having for yours? I think I'm going to do a shoulder pork roast that I saw on Cook's Country that will braise all day and then broil the top for cracklin's. Along with that a cheesy potato casserole and a vegetable. I'm looking for great sides if you have any ideas. We are pied out from Thanksgiving, so I think I will make a Texas Sheetcake, and there will be homemade candy around too.

I'm getting the prime rib and bringing the cookies and DS is making the crab cakes. Beyond that I have no idea what else he is having. I'll take to him the first of the week to see what else he wants me to bring.

Yummy! bluepoprocks where are you finding asparagus this time of year? Do they sell it frozen? I've only ever gotten it fresh.

Our meal will be very small. Family decided on ham. So I'll have probably potatoes of some kind, a vegetable, rolls, cranberry apple bake, and mince pie.

Dd requested finger foods, guess we will attempt to be Costco this year, well, this weekend, with one set traveling this year.
Deviled Eggs, salmon spread, spinach artichoke dip, veggie tray, hummus, ham served in rolls, twice baked potato skins, grilled asparagus (grocery store still has them)...followed by apple tartlets and Christmas cookies.
(Not all by me, split fairly evenly ...nice to have grown kids.)

Don't know about entrees, etc., but I'm thinking about making a side of stuffed potatoes and perhaps an apple pie. Then again, I'll have doing my holiday baking for the neighbors, so I might end up w/boring sides and no dessert.

I'm toying with the idea of having a big brunch and skipping Christmas dinner altogether. I guess I should make a decision soon. Lol!

This is what we do since we all spend the night at my moms Christmas Eve Around work the go to meal is prime rib. One person likes doing baked potatoes so she doesn't have to be in the kitchen cooking all day

We will now be having roast beef, roast potatoes and veg followed by Christmas Pudding for Christmas Day dinner.
The usual traditional Christmas dinner of turkey with all the trimmings followed by Christmas Pudding will now be on New Years Day when all the family can be together.

Our usual fare:
Turkey Maybe ham too? Mashed potatoes Perogies Caesar salad Possibly a second salad? I don't know as I only like Caesar. A range of veggies - definitely corn, carrots.. I'm not sure which others cabbage rolls, which I don't like but everyone else does dinner rolls No idea what dessert will be, though I know I said I'd bake cookies
There could well be a few more items but I'm drawing a blank.

Ds is vegan, dd wants ham. We've been talking about it for two weeks and if we can't come to an agreement they'll be eating cereal!

Probably Ham and Turkey with all the fixings unless we can find a brisket for a good price and then we'll have smoked brisket and smoked turkey since for the first time in forever it's actually going to be kind of warm here for Christmas lol

We have as close to a traditional British meal as I can manage. Turkey ,pigs in blankets, roast and mashed potatoes, sprouts, carrots and roast parsnips with gravy. Then Christmas pudding with cream or custard. Breakfast will be full English and bucks fizz, so we'll eat dinner about 4 and maybe a sandwich for tea about 10 pm if we 'need ' it! The locals do either fish or whole baby suckling pig.

Well its going to be over 30 degrees (Celsius) here this year but we'll still be having the turkey, ham, roasted veggies, pudding, custard etc, etc that we do every year! I don't cook it so I know I shouldn't complain, but it's never cooked well.... Except the turkey. My dad does that and it's always yum.

Seafood by the pool. Barbecued calamari and prawns, lobster, ham and turkey for the traditionalists, salads, pavlova and Christmas pudding. Plus lots of champagne. It will probably be 90 degrees plus here.

We usually repeat the same Thanksgiving meal but this year we have ordered brisket from Rudy's in TX. It's our favorite! I will make some sides but really looking forward to our brisket!

I'm toying with the idea of having a big brunch and skipping Christmas dinner altogether. I guess I should make a decision soon. Lol! I've done this before and it was great. We went out for Chinese that night but at home I made eggs Benedict, bacon, cinnamon rolls, fruit salad and asparagus with the leftover hollandaise from the Benedicts. It was awesome. Now I'm thinking I might do that again this year ...

It will probably be 90 degrees plus here. Ugh. It's going to be 80 here, and we're in the northern hemisphere! So un-Christmassy. I always get a kick thinking about summertime. Christmas on the other side of the world. Maybe we'll pretend we're in Australia to make the 80 degrees more palatable.
