I have only ever tasted one type of cheese that I didn't care for (Limburger) and if I didn't think it would kill me, I could probably live on cheese alone.
And I already have to amend that sentence because I just remembered that I bought TJ's sticky toffee pudding cheddar last week and it's disgusting. So that makes 2 cheeses in the entire universe of cheese. Stinky, aged, soft, hard - I love it all.

this reminds me of the movie She's the Man, where Amanda Bynes tries to teach Channing Tatum to pickup women using the line "do you like.....cheese?"
but yes cheese & I love each other a little bit too much. I really need to break up with cheese - so my jeans keep telling me anyway

To answer your question...just about the only thing I miss from home as much as I miss my family is my local fromagerie. You can buy some nice cheeses in America but, even in a metropolitan area, you are very limited in choice.

, I visited Amish country in Ohio. One of the highlights of the day was grazing through dozens and dozens of cheese samples. Horseradish cheese, pepperoni cheese, mustard cheese - sooooo many unique flavors! Very, very fun. I live just outside of Amish country in IN and have to agree that the cheese is amazing. The shops always have so many unique flavors.

I would rather have cheese than meat most of the time. In Puerto Rico they have a kind of white cheese, fried lightly in a pan (all by itself, no oil or anything), with a little bit of guayava sauce drizzled over. OMGeee it's so good. they sell these little round slices for a dollar or two. One of the few bargains to be found.

No, I don't like cheese, I LOVE cheese!! My favorite lunch forever is an apple and cheese. Granny Smith & Havarti, Sweet Tango & smoked Gouda, Honeycrisp & Brie, etc. DS once burst into tears when there was no fresh parmesan for his spaghetti. At coffee hour after church, DD would ignore the cookie plate and head straight to the feta & olives. Our family motto may be "everything is betta with feta". Christmas day I put out a cheese, crackers & fruit buffet for all day nibbling. I am suddenly craving a raclette or fondue - maybe for New Years?

You can buy some nice cheeses in America but, even in a metropolitan area, you are very limited in choice. One of the many things I miss about living in Paris - the variety of cheese! It is impossible to find an 18 or 24 month Comte here - and I live in one of the largest cities in the US! DH is an even bigger cheese lover and ate it on a daily basis. Earlier this year he discovered he is lactose intolerant and has to cut cheese from his diet. Every once in a while he will cheat, but really pays the price for doing so. I really feel badly for him.

SNORT. Do we LOVE cheese? That's an understatement. My granny brings back 80 LBS of cheese every time she travels to Nicaragua. Not to mention all the other American cheeses we eat on a regular basis, there's a whole world of Latin cheeses that are so super yummy.

I'm so weird - for the most part I could take it or leave it. I don't hate it, but I wasn't devastated when we changed our diets and took cheese out of our diet for the most part. I will eat a bit here and there and like it very well, but I don't even have Parmesan in my fridge right now - only the Colby jack my daughter likes for her snacks.

Dislike cheese completely. Cream cheese is ok if it's in a dessert lol. I've never been a cheese eater even when I was a child my parents would order pizza for the family with a couple slices with no cheese for me.

I have often said if at some point in my life if I became lactose intolerant, my life would be over. No way am I living without cheese. There is always at least 5 different cheese's in my house and most often there are at least 3 new ones. I just wish hubby shared the loved My dd is lactose intolerant and she can eat cheese.. just not processed cheese... it has to be the real thing.. that doesn't bother her.

I would like to ask a question about American cheese..... DSO was making a dish out of a Tex Mex cookbook he bought himself, and the picture of the dish showed that really orange melty cheese. You can't generally buy orange cheese in Australia, so I went to Costco and bought the Kirkland brand: It melted well and looked really good, but I found that it didn't really have much taste. (I can't remember whether I got mild, medium or sharp.) Then out of curiosity I Googled "Why is American cheese orange?" I discovered that (a) American's don't like to be told their cheese is orange, and (b) it's orange because it is seasoned with annatto (whatever that is). In my search for answers I stumbled across a blog by an American woman now living in Australia. She made the claim that Australian cheese is so inferior to American cheese, which caused outrage amongst her Australian readers, who counter claimed that American cheese is over processed crap. It was all quite amusing! I can't comment because I have never eaten American cheese (except for the blend Kirkland cheddar), but I do know that we have AMAZING cheese here! Now I've forgotten what my question was..... Oh yes, what brand of "orange" cheese would you use normally?

Usually melted cheese mixed in with tomatoes and spicy chilis is Velveeta (its a shelf stable so yellow it could come from nuclear waste blend of different cheese combined into a cheese product. It melts extremely well) The mix of canned Rotel tomatoes and chilis with Velveeta is known as Queso dip. It is really good.
When you melt lots of cheddars, you get a nasty oily mess. I'm not fond of most American cheddars because I find them tasteless.
I like some cheeses much more than others. I definitely like European cheeses the most. My favourite is Comte and Gruyere.
I surprised dh and had a big wheel of Stilton at our wedding reception. He was in heaven.
Our cheese bin in the fridge is always full. Dh likes bringing home different cheeses to try.
I'm not a fan of cheeses straight from the fridge. Cold blocks the flavours.
I'm also not one to sit and eat a huge piece of cheese by itself which is what dh does. I'll take small nibbles and savour them in my mouth, but I won't just eat a huge wedge of cheese by itself. Sadly I can't eat a lot of fatty foods, so too much cheese gives me problems.
I really love Latin cheeses. Mexican food has some really delicious melty cheeses.

I can take it or leave it. If I can order something without cheese (like a hamburger) I will. But for like pizza or lasagna, I don't really have a choice and will eat it.

I like cheese in things a lot. I eat a LOT of cheese when I eat a low carb diet. I swear every day for lunch is 5 different kinds of cheese. I just have a bit of everything for flavour. I don't love cheese but it is very easy to eat if you don't want to eat bread.
Do I love it? No.

Cheese is one of the foods I miss the most. Me too. I was never one for the stinky cheeses but I miss Bavarian smoked cheese, god I loved that stuff!
