I must over compensate my love for animal print for the rest of you who won't wear it.
I won't wear anything that won't allow me to wear a real bra. Also no orange.

No prints across the boobs. This reminds me of a story: When I was young, I went to a swap meet with my dad, and there was a lady wearing a tight t-shirt with the words 'The Untouchables' across her ample chest. My dad was actually giggling about it, until I said 'That's a band!' My rules always have a reason: No orange or red - then I feel weird about not wearing a matching lipstick. No pleats - hard to iron, and my dry cleaner charges extra. No turtlenecks, mock or otherwise - I feel like it make my boobs look droopy No crisp button down shirts that require lots of ironing time.

No rules, per se. I have to like the way it looks, and feels, and it has to fit in with the occasion (work, event, etc).
I generally do not wear boat necked shirts (they slip off my shoulders and it drives me batty), rounded toe shoes (I think they make my small feet look stumpy), capris (DH thinks they look too suburban, frumpy mom-ish), or skinny jeans (haven't found a pair yet that flatters my shape and doesn't make me look like an egg on a stick). However, I am not against any of these things if it meets the first litmus test of look and feel.
I let me DD's suggest things for me and they always have a good eye, even for things I wouldn't normally gravitate to.

I have a ton of no items that just don't work with my shape / coloring. The big one for me is thongs (which are forever the name of flip flops in my mind!). It's just a giant wick spreading fluids and yuck, contaminating the lady garden.

No dolman sleeves No sleeveless without some sort of sweater or jacket on top No cap sleeves--I prefer 3/4 length--it balances out my big chest, too No turtlenecks or crew necks No cleavage No high heels or high wedges No frumpy shoes--comfortable can be cute Only dry clean items are blazers and coats, or suit separates, but most of my bottoms are washable I'm not a fan of high waists, but I have a pair of trouser jeans with a high waist that makes me look amazing I'm very picky about denim--dark wash, straight or slightly boot cut, trouser jeans only if they make my legs look amazing I like the idea of wide, baggy pants, but most make me look stumpy and show the cellulite on my thighs No leggings worn as my only bottoms--I *might* wear leggings under a very long tunic or shorter dress if I move up north, but in the South, I'm way too hot for leggings No pajamas in public--unless I need to go to the pharmacy or grocery store in the middle of the night after being in the hospital Animal prints have to be very classic looking, like on a cardigan, lining on a coat or jacket, shoes, a belt, or handbag Not a fan of synthetic fibers Any item of clothing must fit well regardless of size No white underwear/no granny panties--I prefer boyshorts and hipsters

Nothing red, unless it's an AR Razorback shirt. Nothing short, including shorts, except for at home. No high heels, though I did in the day. No deep v necks, I actually do like mock necks in the winter. No sleeveless. No flow-y or empire waisted (do they still call them that?) At 64, I SURE don't need to look pregnant. No thongs, no underwire. No cropped or Capri pants.
Yep, I'm boring, but I'm old, and I'm comfortable!

Nothing up around my neck - turtlenecks, cowls, scarves, choker necklaces.
No tight shirts, especially around my armpits. I will itch like the dickens if something rubs my underarms.
No yellows or oranges for me. Make me look washed out.
No high heels, but pumps or wedges are okay.

No wide leg pants No mid driftsNo hose No bows No bling or writing on the butt No turtlenecks No high waist No fringe No crochet I like your spelling-- it actually makes sense, but I found this: mid·riff ˈmidˌrif/ noun noun: midriff; plural noun: midriffs the region of the front of the body between the chest and the waist. synonyms: stomach, belly, midsection, waist, middle, abdomen, tummy ha! I didn't even notice how I had spelled it! LOL Go figure!

I wear almost everything on these lists that many of you don't wear. I wear dresses, hose, high heels and animal prints. And even though I don't need to dress up for work I still do. I just like it. I have an Audrey Hepburn quote that says something about believing in manicures, overdressing, primping, being strong and happy. It reminds me that I can be a girly-girl and a strong woman at the same time. But, to get back to topic, I don't wear thong underwear, anything orange or maxi dresses (too short).

Leggings are not pants. And don't get upset when people snicker at you. I don't exactly live in a rough town, but if I walked around snickering at every woman wearing leggings I believe I'd end up getting my ass kicked in a parking lot somewhere.

no high heels, or only really comfy ones when necessary nothing around my neck - no turtlenecks or scarves, necklaces are ok as long as they aren't big & heavy no yellow!! no pink unless I have to (work related) skirts are pretty much only for weddings & funerals, although a long dress for a nice evening out is fine (but rare!) no pleats no pantyhose or tights no thong underwear no dry clean or ironing required no stomach or lower back showing no muffin top or bras that don't fit properly

NO, NO, NO to ....
High heels (love the look, my feet and knees just CAN'T deal any more) Anything close up around my neck (have to have scoop/v neck tops and only longer length necklaces) Frills, fringes, bows, belts Anything needing to be tucked in at the waist Button through tops Skimpy undies Obviously branded items (not that I can afford them, but if I could, just no) Nothing above the knee ETA obviously no dry clean or linen style stuff that would be an utter PITA to iron Able to go in the tumble drier
Most of my issues are because I'm well overweight, but the button through tops and high neck things are regardless.

I am such a fashion don't. I love my capris (I am 5'1".) I love my fuzzy crocs (although I don't wear them out of the house ) I love my yoga pants and do wear them out of the house...etc. One of the biggest (and likely the oddest) is that I will not buy any kind of dress pants, skirt or dress that is navy blue unless I can walk across the store and pick up the EXACT SAME SHADE of navy shoes. Spectator pumps are fine, but the navy can't be a different shade. Otherwise that clothing item will never ever get worn because I will lose my shit every time I try to decide which shoes to wear with it because nothing looks right.

I'll wear heels, but only platform ones. Less of an angle and far more comfortable. No pointy toes, either. No dry clean--ain't nobody got time for that No satin on my midsection No longer interested in wearing a thong under anything. Either boycut, seamless, or commando. No maxi dresses, I'm 5'2" and inevitably end up looking like I raided a grownup's closet. And...I keep trying, but I look AWFUL in sweater dresses. I need to just give this up altogether.

Solid neutral colors that are easy to mix & match. Classic styles that hold year over year. No crop or short waisted tops. No white pants. Minimal to none trim (lace, fringe, bows, etc.) Cotton blends wherever possible. This fabric is easier on my sensitive skin. Flat or low heels - no spikes. My feet can't take it anymore. No dry cleaning unless it make me look like a million bucks.

No heels over 1 inch. My mom gave me the cutest boots for Christmas with a 1.5 inch heel and my foot cramps when I wear them, but I do wear them. No underwire bras. Hate underwire No shirt that stops at my waist, it has to cover my big stomach, preferably tunic length. No dresses - exception is a long skirt or dress for a certain occasion
I do love bling, sparkle, glitter, patterns, flocking, fringe, lace, crochet, embroidery. I wish all my clothes had at least one of those!

No turtlenecks, crew necks or boat necks. (I have a linebackers' neck). No wide leg pants. No "theme jewelry" (Candy cane earrings, that sort of thing). No bedazzled jeans. No bikinis.

You are the daughter my mom wished she had! She loved to be dressed up and looking good. I thought pearls were worn by everyone! I could be perfectly dressed and not have on THE right earrings and she would just sigh. I am such a tomboy in the way I want to dress. I have a new job where everyone looks so nice. Thank goodness I only have to go into the office twice a week. No matter what I wear, I always wear fun socks. It is my way of "sticking the dress code to the man!"

I have way too many to list. I have no reason at all to dress up and I don't like dressing up, so I don't. I want to be comfortable. My clothing is very utilitarian and plain. I probably have 200 t-shirts and I wear most of them. Most days I wear basic jeans (or shorts or capris in summertime), a basic tee (short or long sleeve), a zip front hooded sweatshirt and tennis shoes. I have a couple pairs of dark wash jeans and some sweaters for times when I need to look a little nicer, and if I need anything better than that I go shopping on the clearance rack at Kohl's or Herberger's Outlet. I can think of a hundred things I would rather spend money on than clothes. I will not even look at anything that has to be ironed or dry cleaned.

No white, cream, or pastel shirts. No bling on my clothing and especially my jeans. No holes in my jeans, especially the new holes everywhere look. I always wear lipstick out in public. I always match my jewelry to my outfit. I like to match colors in my outfit (shirt to shoes for example) I try to wear a dress to work once a week. I always have something fun about my outfit (a pattern, cute shoes, etc.)

-no crocs. Ever. Like, ever. I won't even buy that crap for my kids! -no pleat front pants Both are excellent "don'ts" and I'd add those to my list as well. ETA obviously no dry clean or linen style stuff that would be an utter PITA to iron I don't understand the hate for dry-cleaning. It's simply a necessity for some garments. And, as a southerner, I'll give up my crisply ironed linen in the summer when you pry it out of my cold dead hands. One of the biggest (and likely the oddest) is that I will not buy any kind of dress pants, skirt or dress that is navy blue unless I can walk across the store and pick up the EXACT SAME SHADE of navy shoes. Ooh, that reminds me of another "don't" on my list... I cannot wear navy shoes. I really don't even like navy pants. I can do navy in a skirt or dress in which case I'll pair it with bone-colored pumps usually. No "theme jewelry" (Candy cane earrings, that sort of thing). Another "don't" on my list as well. I have joked that I could never be a school teacher because I refuse to wear holiday themed sweaters or jewelry.

No heels - I so wish I could but my knees won't let me. No raglan sleeves or twin set sweaters - my round face and wider shoulders just look awful in those styles No black and white mix patterns particularly on top - just doesn't look good on me No orange, yellow or camel colors I still wear the occasional turtleneck but I don't plan to buy anymore. Isn't it ironic that I loved and wore turtlenecks when I was young and had a perfectly smooth neck (queue Nora Ephron) I won't say no dry clean but nothing that would need cleaning every time it was warn No white pants

I love heels! So surprised at how many of you hate them lol! I also can't imagine not wearing thongs occasionally. Aren't you afraid of panty lines in tighter clothing? My list: No animal prints. My mom wears enough for everyone. No Crocs. Ugliest things ever. No Coach products. Overdone. No polka dots. Lol. No long shorts. No tennis shoes unless I am at the gym.

* No dolman or batwing sleeves * No pajamas outside of the house ever * No jeans with "bling" * No clunky shoes -- thick soles, wide fronts, heavy-looking -- basically if it looks too comfortable, I probably won't wear it * No bright orange or any neon colors * No pants suits * No Victoria's Secret PINK or any other logo across my butt * No pants with elastic at the ankles Great list.

No heels. And no to any other shoe that I think may eventually destroy my feet, either. God in Heaven, no pantyhose unless I have absolutely no choice in the matter.
Those are my 2 big rules.

No, I'm not afraid of panty lines for two reasons. One, I never wear tight clothes; and two, at least people will know I have underwear ON! I'm one of the "no heels" people. They are of the devil and are horribly uncomfortable on a good day. And with the arthritis I've got in my foot even loose tennis shoes are painful to wear so even if I wanted to wear heels, they are a no-go for me.
