... clothing styles or features that you wont even consider? How about new rules or rules you've recently bent/broken?
My long time rules include: No high heels (or any shoe that's not really comfy) No dry clean No panty hose No underwire bras (but I break those if I want hottits...) No turtlenecks or crew necks-- only scoop or v necks for me No blue shirts No thong undies (never even considered them)
Recently broken: No sleeveless, but I still don't like my upper arms

No high heels - my feet just won't tolerate them, no matter the shoe. I wear Clarks or Merrells or Danskos or athletic shoes to work. Me and the comfort shoe store have a really good relationship.
No dry clean only or needs ironing.
God in heaven, no pantyhose.
No fussy bows and ties and belts and stuff.
Nothing that gets tucked in, especially not that weird thing where you tuck like two inches of something at the front.
For me personally - no cleavage.
I am just a really low maintenance girl and I like my clothes to be low maintenance. I have found there is little use in my buying clothes that don't suit my personality - I just don't wear them when I do. So I embrace my plainness and go on.
I don't work in an industry where image is important, so I don't need suits, blouses, heels, fancy bags, any of it.

No heels, no hose, no bows. If it needs to be dry cleaned, it will be worn once.

No high heels no panty hose/but, tights allowed in the Winter with boots no flat boots, or boots with a heel more than 1" tall no short shorts no jumpers/onesies no white anything (including underwear, unless it's mixed into a pattern no thongs (I would never stick anything up my butt cheeks on purpose no fringe EVA only flip flops/sanders in the Summer, unless walking the dog in tennis shoes, or doing a lot of walking no ironing, but will take it to the dry cleaners to be pressed no jeans that look like I have worn them for several years, or had a fight with a razor blade LOL no midriffs no turtle necks no mock anything!
Still thinking. May add more later...

No culottes or any wide-legged trouser No cropped or shrunken things that would make me look short-waisted No high-waisted anything No outdoorsy REI-looking clothing No comfort-type shoes like those clogs No jersey knit No pantyhose

No polyester except for fitness clothes. No animal prints--too Zsa Zsa for my style. No heels over 2 inches. No wedges--they feel too unstable. No dolman sleeves or ponchos--not flattering to my body type. Thong underwear--because it's incomprehensible to me. And I guess anything else that is not congruent with my style, which I would categorize as about 40% sporty, 20% urban/edgy, 20% bohemian, and 20% classic/prep.

(And we do lots of outdoorsy stuff, so it gets used as intended.) I'm not averse to jersey but I don't seek it out, either.

* No dolman or batwing sleeves * No pajamas outside of the house ever * No jeans with "bling" * No clunky shoes -- thick soles, wide fronts, heavy-looking -- basically if it looks too comfortable, I probably won't wear it * No bright orange or any neon colors * No pants suits * No Victoria's Secret PINK or any other logo across my butt * No pants with elastic at the ankles

No boot jeans
No prints across the boobs.
No pointy shoes. Honestly I would to scream this one at woman who is a teacher and about 10 ft tall. Those pointy shoes make you look like a wicked witch.
No large printed patterns. Look at your ass in the mirror babe. Those palm trees actually sway when you walk!
Leggings are not pants. And don't get upset when people snicker at you.
No tight fitting clothes. I am a bit phobic about tight clothes.

No stilettos or heels that are more than 2". I have one pair of heels for when it's necessary. No dry clean. No frills, ruffles, or bows. No neon or super trendy colors. I stick with classic and jewel tones. No trendy patterns. Arrows are fading quickly as are others. No hose or tights. Not a fan of crew necks but will wear them if they're loose enough.
I'm very simple.

No jeans that look faded on the fronts or that have "bling" Panty hose or tights are essential if I wear a dress other than in the summer. No butterfly sleeves. Nothing orange! I don't like to see the brand of clothing displayed on the item. Purses are the worse for this! No wedges, I can't walk well enough in them. No crop tops No off the shoulder tops
I can be pretty picky about the fit, and "feel" of clothing!

Too many NO's to type.
If it is not flat, comfy, black, sleeveless, stretch, and shorts then you will not see it on my body.
The only reason there is an iron and ironing board is for the husband because he thinks he needs an ironing board and iron even if he hasn't ironed anything for at least 15 years.
I have my table top ironing board for my crafts.
If it doesn't come out of the dryer ready to wear then it isn't owned by me.

No thongs. No leggings. Ever. Anywhere. No sweatpants outside a work-out situation. No crop pants. No tube tops (okay, that's from 40 years ago, but still.) No sequins below the waist. No ripped jeans.

I don't have any hard and fast rules. I have to like the way it looks in the mirror. I would prefer to wear jeans and t-shirts and comfy shoes. Oh, I really don't like to wear shoes that have backs on them since my feet are two different sizes. (I will wear tennis shoes for exercise.)

Fun question.
No pajama bottoms outside or inside for that matter. When I get up I get dressed No turtlenecks No flat, chunky boring shoes or combat looking boots. Love my heels! No leggings No tights!! I'll take pantyhose over those hot, constricting things any day. No neon No logos or words on my tops. I do make an exception and wear a club shirt on occasion No tennis shoes unless doing yard work or climbing a ladder No cropped, capri or yoga pants
This list was longer than I thought and I'm sure there's more I could add if I thought about it more.

No leggings No yoga pants outside of the house No turtlenecks Nothing that needs to be ironed No fur or fur trimmed anything (reminds me of my mother) Always shoes with a heel, except in the summer when it's ok to wear flat sandals. (But I'm short)

No wide leg pants No mid driftsNo hose No bows No bling or writing on the butt No turtlenecks No high waist No fringe No crochet I like your spelling-- it actually makes sense, but I found this: mid·riff ˈmidˌrif/ noun noun: midriff; plural noun: midriffs the region of the front of the body between the chest and the waist. synonyms: stomach, belly, midsection, waist, middle, abdomen, tummy

No turtlenecks or crew necks-- only scoop or v necks for me No blue shirts No thong undies (never even considered them) Ha! I must have exactly the opposite of rules as you! As I seem to be breaking almost all of them in one day! I am wearing a dress, with thong undies, underwire bra, control top sheer tights with tall boots with a heel. My dress is even navy! My rules: -Almost no shorts in public. They started selling the longer shorts so I do own a few pairs of those. But I don't wear shorts most generally. My legs are a mile long so most are too short anyway. I stick to capri's, skirts and dresses for the summer. -no crocs. Ever. Like, ever. I won't even buy that crap for my kids! -no pleat front pants -no turtlenecks either -no pjs/sweats/yoga pants/leggings worn outside of the house. Ever. I can't stand that. That's probably it.

I don't really have any hard and fast "that's hideous and I wouldn't be caught dead in it" rules, but I do have a few things I don't buy because they simply don't work on me:
No boatneck shirts. I think they're cute, but they don't sit right on my very narrow shoulders. Nothing written across the ass of the pants. My booty's poppin', but there's no need to bring it to the attention of everyone. No capris or clam digger style pants. They look silly on me. No pencil skirts, sadly. They don't work well on my shape. No pleats. No pants/jeans/skirts that sit right around my waistline. I get an instant stomach ache if they do.

I used to think I had a LOT of fashion rules, but a lot of things about my style changed since we moved from Illinois to Arizona. The colors I wear, the types of clothing, etc. So I would never have 'rules' that I might someday break for a certain situation. Other than no stiletto heels, super-high, or pointy-toed high-heeled shoes, but that's more for a safety reason than anything, lol!

Nothing tight. No cleavage. Nothing short. No prints. Nothing too bright (except my new red coat.) Since my foot surgery, only shoes I can use my orthotics in (I swear I am not 90, I only feel like it). I really don't even do dresses. One of the best things about my job is that I can wear whatever I want. I dress very comfortably.
