And for those that missed the show or part of the show, the Fox Now App has it to view. I get up way to early to even think about watching last night, much less delayed from football. First thing I did this morning was watch it on the App...

We missed about 5 minutes of it because partway through, our local Fox station cut to Modern Family. According to their FB page "we have no idea how that happened"

I'm a total ninny so never watched the show (even the commercials scared me), but I always wanted to know what the "big reveal" was when the show ended.

I was so excited to watch it last night & hope the fans love it enough to make more than 6 episodes!

I thought it was a good start. for all that she has seen and done, Scully was a bit too mopey and hesitant. Mulder was perfectly paranoid. it was good to see the gang back together from the get go including Skinner and cancer man

I am posting just to say I wish I hadn't seen that this thread is even here, lol!! We recorded it on the DVR, but it is KILLING me that I can't read this thread!! I'm being very careful not to even *scroll* at all... I may have to even get off here altogether, to keep myself safe until I can watch it, lol!!

Her royal hotness is back. I'm satisfied. She can just read the phone book for all I care. Having expressed my utter besotted-ness, I loved the episode. I loved the "Scully, everything's clear to me now. There are no Aliens." Then we pan to an alien being shot to death with an alien ship in the background. Then we pan to Mulder again, then we pan to Scully saying she has alien DNA. smirk. I LOVE IT

I forgot to mention that Scully's wig is distracting me now that I know it's a wig. I guess she didn't want to chop off and color her long blonde hair for the 6 episodes. it just reminds me of the awful wig that Megan Boone wore for the first few episodes of Blacklist until her hair grew out.

Ah, I wondered why her hair looked so bad. It's like she used a box of cheap strawberry blonde hair color over natural blonde. It's very distracting.

No thread for tonight?
I missed most of it, but what I saw was reminding me a little of Witch Mountain!
I did not realize it was on so early! Love the actor who plays the son. Looks so much like Scully!

I was a fan from the first run. I gave up after Season 6. I'm struggling with this reboot. Whoever above said it was almost a parody has it right.

I loved this show so much that when it ended, I never watched the last episode so that for me, it was never over. Watching tonight (Monday's episode) made me sad. First, because it seemed so much like a real, old school episode and made me think of my cats named Mulder and Scully who are no longer with us. And second, I felt like the characters were old friends of mine that I hadn't been in touch with for years and they went on and things happened in their lives that I didn't know about.

lol I kept wanting Mulder to clear his throat...
I honestly had to look away at some moments in this, which is usual X-files fair for me.

I really liked tonight's episode. More in line with the old plot lines. The crows. I can't believe there are only 4 episodes left!

We have liked it so far. Although we had to mute tonights episodes a few times cause my dogs didn't like the noises and neither did we LOL! The dogs were like what the heck! Dh said the show was finally able to do all the cool affects that they wanted to do back then, now it's just catching up.

I will watch it through to the end but I am really frustrated by the poor writing. I think part of it is because they were limited to 6 episodes which means cramming in a lot of reintroduction quickly but when I compare it to the brilliant writing of other limited run shows like Sherlock, it's frustrating. One example: Skinner calls them out of the blue after 10 years, they both drop everything to go talk to a right wing media conspiracy nut who Mulder instantly hates and then just as instantly believes. Flash forward and Mulder is sitting with Skinner and Skinner says something like "why are you here Mulder?" (Um, because you called him?) Flash forward and Mulder (who yesterday looked like a homeless drunk but today is dapper in a natty suit) and Scully are walking around FBI headquarters like they own the place and Skinner unceremoniously says welcome back and thus we learn that inexplicably they have seemingly independently reopened the X Files.
So far, the writing is really sloppy and uneven.

I am really enjoying the show but can't believe how few episodes there are going to be, it's already making me sad. I am getting ready to re-watch last nights episode this morning because everyone kept talking about the show while we were trying to watch it last night. We've got a house full of x-file fans that can't stop chatting about it

So far, the writing is really sloppy and uneven. ^^^^^ we watched both episodes tonight-- my boyfriend had never watched X-Files back in the day, and I think I gave up and never watched the last couple seasons. So I was excited to see it back. But, the first episode felt like it didn't really 'fit' with the second episode. (at the beginning of the first episode, my boyfriend said "come on, you have to admit, the acting and writing is pretty bad, here..." which yeah, it was, but I was like, "shush! it's the X-Files!") The first episode could easily have been stretched out to two or three... That whole scene about explaining the govt. conspiracy to generate chaos --> corporate farming--> pharma companies --> global warming--> etc. etc. etc. which eventually leads to a multinational group taking over the world-- what the heck?? That whole thing left me scratching my head, and thinking 'if they wanted to take over the world, why waste all this time?? just DO it by using military might! And Tad, Sveta (sp?), the ARV, etc. all came and went so quick, it was annoying, and didn't really seem to have much of a reason. (I did love seeing Cancer Man, and the first time Skinner came on the screen-- yay! ...he needs to shave the beard, though- makes him look too old, in my opinion.) The second episode, though, was much better and much more in line with the type of episodes I remember and love. I always liked the 'monster of the week' type episodes better than the alien conspiracy overarching story arc episodes... I don't really remember the old guy who Mulder met in the park, but it was sort of frustrating to me- if he doesn't want to take his knowledge to the grave with him, why not just TELL Mulder about it, rather than making him figure it out? It seems a bit contrived, in that sense... Some of it still seems uneven-- like, where were all the files when the office was empty? Skinner said "I don't know what happened to them" but at the end, they were all back, just like nothing had ever happened. And yeah, why did Skinner call them in the first place? Tad didn't seem like a good enough reason. I have no idea where it's going, but they'll have to cram a lot of stuff into the last four episodes. And will it have a satisfying wrapped-up ending?? Or is it just to test the waters for another movie?

I've always felt the Xfiles plots had holes and irrationality, so that part of the new series didn't bother me.

I'm just so thrilled to have it back. We were avid fans the first time around. I'm pleased with it so far, despite some minor issues. The original series had episodes that ranged from mediocre to brilliant and think series will too.

I've always felt the Xfiles plots had holes and irrationality, so that part of the new series didn't bother me. That's it exactly for me. Part of the charm of The X-Files was its (so predictable) failings. I don't have high expectations that the writing will make any sense in the real world. I'm just so damn glad to see them back again ... I'd forgotten how much I missed them. I love the familiarity. And wow, the effects in last night's show. What an improvement!
