DH is 69. He has been coaching a college swim team in W VA since September to help out a friend who is the president of the university. This is 4 hours from our home. He lives there and we visit when we can.
Today he he was having severe upper stomach pains and went to the ER to see if they could give home something for it. They did some tests and he had elevate counts for several enzymes. They immediately sent him by ambulance to Morgantown where there is a large university hospital. They redid the tests and his enzyme levels were normal.
So I am now in Morgantown and they will do a cath procedure tomorrow. They are treating him as if he did have a heart attach but we are very confused over the test results . So if you can spare a prayer, we could really use some positive vibes coming our way.
UPDATE - Wed PM
Thank you all for your concern and words of encouragement. We got home a bit ago. DH had a stent put in an artery (horribly nicknamed The Widowmaker). He is tired of course and on strict orders to exercise, watch his diet carefully and lose some weight. The staff at Ruby Hospital in Morgantown was stellar. We are very grateful that he was taken there when he first felt ill.
He will be home for at least a week then we will decide together whether or not he should continue coaching. He is very good at it and he enjoys it tremendously but it is not worth risking his health over.
i am tired and crabby and God bless all of you nurses. I have absolutely no patience for taking care of a sick adult. I love him to pieces (usually) but if he asks me one more time to get him water or when he should take a pill or if he should eat a certain food I might scream. I am secretly relieved that I have to go back to school tomorrow. Luckily DD is home right now and can take on the nursing duties for me.
Again, thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes. You all are the best!
