The invitation itself was OK, until I got to bottom and there was "the sentence".
Gift Ideas: Money in envelope with your name on it for my wishing well. Thank You.
I'm not sure why she put 'gift ideas' (plural) when all she wants is money. But at least she said thank you, so does that lessen the tack rating by Pea standards? |

Nope. What the heck is her wishing well? Surely she isn't going to have one of those naff story book things in her garden? I think there are cardboard card boxes that fold up into the shape of a little wishing well. |

I would rather a person "be tacky" and tell me what they want so I can give them something they will use than guess and give them something that will land at Goodwill or waste real estate gathering dust.
I'd write a cheque and not give it another thought.

Meh, doesn't really bother me. I agree with Peasful1, I would prefer to get them something they need rather than a dust collector.
Hang on, it *is* a wedding invite isn't it?
Because if it is anything other than a wedding or engagement party it becomes a bit tacky.
I have to say, even though I'm not outraged at the tackiness, I do love the idea of the penny in the envelope with "Your Name" written on the front!

To me, the "Thank you" makes it even tackier! It seems to assume your compliance with her demand - er, wish. A "Please" would at least seem like you have the option to refuse.  |

Goodness, that is tacky! Maybe she put it in plural hoping you will give her more than one envelope of money. Love the envelope with a penny idea, LOL!
