I have two small (4 pound) chihuahuas. Max, the boy, lives to play catch. We've been buying him some small tennis balls, but he tears them to pieces. If one of the boys leaves a ball out he tears all the fuzz off it and has made him sick. Anyone have any suggestions of small fetch balls that are not fuzzy? He doesn't mind a little squeaking, but is scared of toys that are too squeaky when he mouths it.
Here's a picture of the cuties when they were puppies. They've grown a little since this picture, but are still very small. Max the toy destroyer is the white one and Mia is the black one.

You can roll a little sock into a ball for something soft.

I wonder if a whiffle ball would work. THey're probably not small but they may be able to grasp them via the holes in the ball instead?

What about these light up ones? I can usually find these at Target in a 2-pack for $1. Or the dollar store. Our 9lb Pom-Chi loves them. ETA- Chief would tear the fuzz off tennis balls, too. Tennis balls were a bit too big for his mouth. These are smaller with more give.

If your dog rips things up, I wouldn't give it a light up ball. I'd be worried it would eat the light up thingy inside.
Chuck It makes some great balls and they come in a small size. Amazon has several of the smaller variety to choose from. Just search under "chuck it ball small." And BTW--the throwing mechanism they have is really great. I can throw the ball about 5 times farther than I can just with my arm. I stink at throwing balls!

Toy Balls with HolesWe use one like this. They have different sizes so it's nice. Our dog (Boston Terrier) likes Kong tennis balls that squeak. We also put a ball into a long tube sock and knot it. Any size ball would work.

Emma got the Hurley as a puppy and really liked to chew on it. It still looks brand new, 4 years later. It's really amazing. And I'm ordering the puzzle Toppl. When I get to work on my computer, Emma usually gets a Kong stuffed with treats and kibble and frozen. It keeps her busy for at least 30 minutes. Now I have something new to add to the mix.

Another vote for the chuck it balls. My retriever cross loves them and they last forever...unless you lose it in the bushes!

I agree with the Chuck It brand. One of our dogs is ball crazy. he has no less than 12 balls throughout the house. We only by this brand now as any other, within an hour he has his teeth punctured through it or when he had tennis balls, they were ripped to shreds. We can usually get them at TJ Max or Marshalls for like $2-3 and stock up when we find them.
