I feel that way, reading here and on FB. I have been to both, and am okay not going back.
It's just like me and not running. Almost every person I know who has been on a weight loss journey ends up running a marathon. No thanks! LOL

I don't hate Disney, but I don't find every opportunity to go there like some of my friends. I am just not a big Disney fan.

Nope Dh and I went for our honeymoon because of a great deal and we don't care to ever go back. We asked the kids (first when they were 9 and 6 and then again at 12 and 16) if they wanted to do a Disney trip or a Caribbean all inclusive trip and they picked the Caribbean both times. We very seldom watch movies so that may have something to do with it IDK.

Yes, yes, you are - LOL!! Actually, I love Disney (which I am sure you guess by my user name) but I do have a friend who doesn't like it. She just doesn't like dealing with the crowds and the sun and all the walking. I can see how it isn't for everyone but it just makes me so happy

I actually hate Disney. You'd have to pay me a lot of money to get me to go there again (been 3 times).

I'm not a huge fan of Disney; I can take it or leave it. And running just makes me sad!

I have nothing against Disney (and I understand why it appeals to people), but it's not something I'm interested in. I never went as a kid and my daughter hasn't been either. If she really, really wanted to go we would probably find a way to work it in, but she doesn't seem to care either (she's not big into princesses or characters). Although I am contemplating taking her to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios next year - that probably would be the closest we would come.

Nope, I'm with you.
I've been twice. First time I took the daughter of a friend, we were there 3 days, which was way too long.
A couple of years ago we took the boys who apparently were the only kids in the State of CA that had never been. We went for 2 day, 2 long-ass-miserable-days. None of us enjoyed it or saw the point of standing in line for hours, having zero decent food options and dealing with other, equally as miserable, parents.

I don't love it. I'm taking my niece there for three days next week and I'm quietly dreading it.

Its too intimidating! Anytime I see Disney threads all all the talk about how to book and navigate the parks and hotels and get here by X time and blah blah blah my eyes glaze over. Any place where you have to join a message board and do all this pre booking and pre reservations at restaurants is just not fun to me. I'd rather go sit on a beach with a giant margarita.

I went to Disneyland when I was 12 and again when I was 18. I'm glad I went, but it didn't bowl me over. I'm not a huge fan of the movies, the place, etc. I'm just sort of ambivalent about it.

I was not a fan until we took our boys there.
It was magical.
I'd go back again.

Not one of my favorite places.
But the younger boy? He loves the place and is over there all the darn time. One of his friend's dad works there and they get monthly day passes to any Disney Park-they take turns picking which park to go to. And if they can't go there, there is a group of them that hangs out at Downtown Disney for date night once a month or so. - I can only blame myself though. When the boys were little we had annual passes and went all the time. They loved it so even though I didn't care for it I took them. Now that they are older, I don't have a burning need to go back.

My very best friend suggested she might be interested in a wedding at Disney. I told her she would not have me as a maid of honor. I was perfectly willing to be supportive from home.
Fortunately, she did another destination and all was wonderful.
I find princess-ness to be unhealthy and unattractive.

I live in N. Ca and have only been four times: grad night in 1990, with my oldest when she was 4 in 1996, with my middle when he was 5 in 2004 and with the whole family in 2010.
I had a nice time each time but it is nothing I must go back to. I would like to go just dh and I on a "quiet" day but I;m sure there are no quiet days left.

I love it - seeing it through the eyes of a toddler is the best, tho. We went last year with our DD, SIL and 2y/o DGD. Turns out SIL has a meeting in Orlando at the end of April, so looks like we'll be going again. We are only a 3 hour drive away so it's great for us to be able to see grand kids. ETA: DH can take it or leave it. I was in HS in FL when WDW opened, what a great excuse to skip school, LOL!!

You know, I've maintained for years that I want to go. follow a couple of blogs etc. I told DH that once we get through this house/work mess we were going to take a trip for spring break. As I really thought about where we wanted to go, the idea of go go go, endless walking, etc that Disney represents just doesn't appeal to me anymore. At least right now it doesn't. I started pricing cruises instead.

I am a Disney-phile. We go at least once a year to WDW and I love it- usually. I can recall a visit within the last 2 or 3 years when I actually said "if this had been my first visit, I wouldn't go back." I can completely see how it would be that way for some. I dislike crowds. I hate being outside in the hot sun. Not my cup of tea at all. But WDW, at least, is much more than the theme park. I will often only go to the parks one day if I am there for a week. I like my relaxation time. I also only do the parks in a way that I find relaxing as well. It's a luxury that not everyone has because it is so darn expensive and people often travel there in large groups. It's a completely difference experience for my family of 3, and it is often only 2 of us who go at a time. We went to Universal recently. I did say "never again" for that one. Crowds are managed so poorly. Wait times are even more ridiculous. They can be at WDW, but there's plenty of other things to do so you can go back. Even the wait times with the "front of the line" pass at Universal were beyond what I am OK with. We were there in January, after most schools are already back in session and before the MLK weekend crowds. If that's what some experience at WDW, I totally get it!

FTR: Disneyland is not like that. Disney World is. Big difference between the two locations in terms of need to plan. And frankly, IMO, the rides are usually better at Disneyland/California Adventure than at Disney World. I really enjoy Disney, but these days I only enjoy Disneyland/CA. Have pretty much grown to detest Disney World in the last few years due to changes they have made there that make it easier to plan a trip to Europe than to a theme park -- utterly ridiculous. I am not a margarita on the beach sort of person, but seriously, I spent less time planning our trip to Europe last year to an area we'd never visited than our last trip to Disney World, a place we've been to many times. Just not worth it. Disneyland, however, just show up.

Huge fan here. With the tattoo and the dedicated room to boot! BUT, in the last 6 months DISNEY has begun making changes that deter from the magic and they are making it abundantly clear that they are only in it for the money. I believe they are trying to appeal only to the extremely rich. I am so disappointed that my annual pass expired this past Monday and I don't think I am renewing. I am sad.

Just not worth it. Disneyland, however, just show up. I have one relative who has totally drunk the Disney Kool-Aid and is insufferable on the topic. If you say anything negative about Disney or suggest she vacation elsewhere, you'd think the world was coming to an end. Unfortunately, she has lots of company lined up at the Kool-Aid dispensary and they reinforce her. I mentioned to her that the last time I was there, unfortunately, a cast member chose to yell at a crowd just as I came up past her and she ended up yelling right into my ear. I was in pain for a week. Obviously, this could have happened any where. But you would have thought I accused the cast member of murdering me. So over that Disneyisperfect attitude. Nobody has shown up on this thread (I probably should add a "yet" as it is early and it is 2peas, lol), but there have been threads in the past where people with this attitude have shown up and it drove me crazy. It's like they were personally offended that you didn't like Disney and couldn't imagine how any other vacation could possibly compare. It was bad enough online - would be even more annoying in person (I have friends who love Disney and go frequently, but they don't act like cult members trying to recruit you).

I've never been there. At this point in my life, I have no desire to go there. I hate crowds and Disney would probably send me into a full blown panic attack. My personal bubble is like 10 feet wide. I even get annoyed if my own DH or kid gets too close for too long.

(Really. I saw Bambi in a theater with my grandma, then nothing again until I was allowed to date at age 16 and boys took me). But I went as an adult for the first time and had a blast. You don't need to know the characters to enjoy it as an amusement park, their cleanliness and impeccable attention to detail is amazing. And it just is a lot of fun. I haven't been to Universal Orlando, but Disneyland far exceeded Universal Hollywood.

It's not my thing, or DH's, and DS will probably never go (nor does he want to). Besides about six months when he was 3 and liked Cars, he's refused to watch every other Disney movie.
(Well, until we saw Zootopia two weeks ago and he actually liked that.)
