Happy Wednesday! Hope you are having a good week! Today's prompt is REFLECTION.
Looking back at the way you have been approaching your craft: are you happy with what you have done and how you have accomplished it? Why do you scrapbook? Are you getting the results you want? Are you getting the same joy and satisfaction from your hobby as you have in the past? Have you changed--or do you plan to change--the way you document your life and/or the lives of others?
To go with the reflection theme, I have taken a photo of the chairs and table on our covered deck--where, BTW, I often sit and reflect--and I noticed that the glass table top reflected the trees behind the yard.

Whether you answer the question or not, I hope you have a little crafty fun this Wednesday. Take a look at the TYS master thread , pick a challenge or prompt, and create something. Even if it's small, let us know about it in this thread. Show us a photo of it if you can.
If you haven't yet joined in the fun, that's okay. it is never too late to jump in: the water's fine!

Thanks for posting these threads each day (and to our guest host too!).
I've definitely changed the way I scrapbook in terms of the stories I tell. When I started I was caught up in the excitement of a new hobby and felt like I had to scrap every photo and often didn't do anything more than make a pretty page. Now story is much more important to me and I want every page to hold enough story to make me feel like it was worth the time and cost and effort of making it and storing the completed page.
I mostly scrap vacation albums these days with a Dec Daily each year. I have done various forms of everyday documenting either through a month in review album or through PL which I'm doing this year for only the second time but with a more relaxed approach than I did the first time around. I definitely feel like I'm in a good place with my scrapping.

I'm more comfortable with my scrapbook style than I used to be - it really has stayed pretty consistent but I no longer negatively compare my pages to other people's more artsy, more embellished, more technique-driven...etc... pages. I've learnt to embrace the simple, linear pages that I create. I don't scrap every photo now - and I do less multiple layouts for a single event - I guess I've gotten better at being selective when it comes to photos. I do still see my albums as glorified photo albums rather than art though.

I started out documented my new baby, so it was milestones and stories. Then it became about all those precious cute photos that either didn't have a story or I didn't remember them so it was just a cute page. Now I'm back to story telling. When I have a photo that awesome that doesn't have a story, I attach a story that doesn't have a photo. I still create the occasional page with no story. I'm really trying to incorporate more of our events/holidays which I typically don't include much and tend to just do the everyday and character styled layouts. I try to really think about the paper and embellishments as part of the story telling process. What I would change? I would get better at documenting in the moment so I can have the details when I'm ready, and I would bring out my camera more - I used to and stopped.

I started out scrapbooking when I became an empty nester. Now I was a very involved mom and many, including me, wondered how I was going to handle empty nest. I think scrapbooking was my 'therapy'. I could still be involved, relive those moments. Now I do it with my grandchildren. As far as regrets or rethinking...maybe buying less. I really do not need every color of everything!! or maybe I do... As far as future, need to do more storytelling. So when the great grands look through the book they will know what was going on.

I started scrapping with a bang. In 6 months, I finished 4 scrapbooks, one for each of my kids, the youngest of whom was in university. My focus was highlighting the themes of their lives, so one or two--at most--double CM pages for "HOCKEY", for example, which took up much of our free time much of my kids' lives. Did one 2 page spread for ALL of each kid's school years. I told a story on each spread, but it was a story of themes. Now I scrapbook mostly my grandkids. The biggest change is that now I am an event and day-to-day scrapper. Still tell stories, but mostly it is about what happened that particular day. Guess I still look for themes, though. For this page I finished this morning, I comment on how my dgs loves to play in our basement every time he comes here. basement play by Gramma Dee, on Flickr And of course my stash has multiplied from one bin to a 3 drawer rolly cart to a whole room. Still use some of my trusty CM tools, though. Plus a whole gaggle of other tools, of course. And I have loved the process of learning new techniques and ways to express myself, so those techniques have found their way onto my pages. I also love learning from other crafters, either in person or by viewing their creations on line. The page I finished this morning is a lift of tduby1 's You are my Sunshine in the 2peas Gallery. Also love challenges, and this page was in response to Chinagirl828 's challenge to "Lift something from the 2 Peas Gallery", one of the Tell Your Story challenges & promptsOkay, enough about me. Back to YOUR reflections! And I would love to see your responses to the challenges as well if you have some time to play today--or had tome to play earlier this week and have time now to post and link!

I started with my scrapbooks being glorified photo albums. Everything I took pictures of ended up in the scrapbook. Then I got so far behind that it felt overwhelming and I barely scrapped anything for nearly a year. When I started back up, I was no longer a chronological scrapbooker. I scrap what I want: new pictures, old pictures. Some layouts are very time consuming and artsy and some are more basic. I've been toying with trying some project life style layouts because I don't seem to be scrapbooking our regular lives, just events.

This is a great topic for me to get things off my chest! I'm one of those people that worries about doing things the "right way". Recently I moved some old pictures to a new computer and loved looking through them. I realized that I had scrapped pictures that didn't have as much meaning as I thought they had at the time. "You were so cute at 7" doesn't tell me anything about my kids. I realized I never scrapped the fact that DD2 loved dresses and would throw huge fits if she had to wear pants or shorts. I never scrapped their Webkinz phase. I never scrapped DD2 refusing to nap in her room but she'd sleep on the couch. Yes, she was a stubborn child. So I got a bunch of those pictures printed and I'm working on them now. It's never too late to go back and scrap things that matter, right? So I feel like I'm fixing the problem and am happy about it. I'm also one of those people that likes to be caught up and scrapping current pictures. Going back to scrap older pictures throws a wrench in my efforts to catch up, but I'm trying to accept it. Hopefully scrapping like crazy this month will help. I scrap because I want my kids to know the who, what, where, when, and why of our pictures. I remember asking my mother questions about family history and felt like I was missing out when she didn't have answers for me. We were at Disneyland and California Adventure last week and I'm so looking forward to scrapping those pictures! My Say Cheese and Say Cheese II haul should arrive today and I can't wait to have it in my hot little hands. So here is my reflection picture for the day.

Elsabelle - lovely photo! I'm like you - and worry about doing things right. It's hard to let go of that. Day 4 Layout #1 - 2 pg "Mountains" - 3 photos, cardstock, chevron PP, brads (!), journalling, black foam thickers, and an Ansel Adams quote

Layout #11 is done! I scrapped DD's love of dresses when she was little. I used EP Sweet Girl. It matched perfectly. There's a super cute pp with dresses on it and I used a chipboard dress from BG Hey Girl among other things. I love it! On to #12!

My style has certainly changed in the last 10 years. But I would say it has stayed consistent the last 4-5 years. The first 5 years were me finding my style, I suppose.
My stash has changed as well. I have downsized greatly and I'm much more particular about what I buy, a result of several purges.
How/ when/ where scrap has also changed. When I first started my kids were little. I was a SAHM. It was my outlet, my time. It was important to me to spend some me time creating each day, whether it be nap time, after the kids were in bed, etc. it was important I have a functional scrap area because I rarely scrapped away from home. Infact, I had a scrap area (the larger part of our finished basement) the was wall to wall scrap supplies and 12 four foot tables so I could host a monthly crop for up to 12 people. Now, I work outside the home and don't ever find time to scrap at home and hold yearly scrap retreats away from home instead. So, I still have a small scrap area (like an eighth of my old) but mostly it stores my scrapbooking supplies between my two yearly weekends away.

#12 is done and it's another one that I love. It's a couple of pictures that I took of my kids in 2007. Daily life pictures that I should have scrapped then.

Other posters have said what I would say. I have been happy with my style for about the past decade but my first years of scrapping horrifies me. I have redone most of my earliest layouts and albums.
I started scrapbooking because I have always kept the old fashioned scrapbooks of memorabilia, I collected postcards from everywhere, and I had lots and lots of magnetic albums full of photos. So the new version of scrapping was a perfect evolution for me. But I learned on my own because I could not afford CM at all. I started out with the barest of supplies. I used anything I could get.
I still love to scrapbook and do it as often as I can. But now I just want to get the pictures in scrapbook albums again. I don't want to leave them in boxes. I have so many supplies I am committed to using for my books - so sliding them into sleeves doesn't work for me at this point. I am not really telling the stories with journalling. I put enough to give some information and someday if I live long enough I can go add more.
I scrap for me, and for my descendants - hoping there will be a family member like me who goes nuts over family history and genealogy and loves my preservation efforts. I also hope my adult kids will love to look back on their lives and how their lives were documented.
