My oldest bought me a pot of petunias (which he usually does) and wanted to take us out for lunch, so we ended up just going to pick him up in the limo (we have a limo service) and decided to include my mom, and she was going to spend the day with my sister so her and my nieces got in on the deal too. It was a lot of fun for a couple hours of time. None of them had ridden in a limo before.
My youngest son send me a book from amazon I'd been wanting. It had a note that said "happy mother's day from your favorite son, Harley (the dog) can't shop on amazon so who do you think it is?" Lol. That kid, always my little smart ass. He lives 4 hours away and didn't come up for the weekend.
ETA: I forgot, my husband bought me flowers and candy. Ooops.
Do anything fun or special? Sleeping alone is special. So is foot rubs and tv time holding the remote!

I am not sure special is precisely the word, but perfect for me? Oh yes. I was given the opportunity to volunteer at my all time favorite community event for a while (the gift of doing what I wanted,) my youngest son took me out for an early dinner/late lunch, then we wandered around an outdoor shopping center window shopping and chatting, then ice cream and then home and a nap. (where, as an aside, I discovered that there is a tv show called 'The Story of God' narrated by...wait for it... Morgan Freeman. It was the single most perfect background for a nap ever invented.) My older son spent the entire day chatting via text with me. Which for him is a gift in and of itself. So for me, I couldn't have asked for a better day.

Nothing. I got nothing. Dh and the kids remembered it was Mother's Day so they took me to lunch at a new restaurant I've been wanting to try and the kids bitched that they only had a few things on the menu while dh bitched that the wait was too long.
So I locked myself in my sewing room and crafted all afternoon. Dh knew I was irritated so they didn't bother me which I guess is a present in itself!

My husband and daughters got me a Nora Fleming plate and Birds Nest mini to go with it (Google if you've never heard of these---they're very cute). I also got some of my favorite body cream and hand lotion from Bath & Body Works.
We went to church, had lunch at my in-laws', visited with my mom, and took a short nap. Fish tacos for dinner. It's been a nice day!

We eventually decided to go to a brunch buffet and it was kind of disappointing (I ended up not eating the piece of chicken I took because it was undercooked.)
Dh kept saying he didn't know what to do for me and that he felt bad to the point where I got annoyed with him.
It wasn't a bad day, but not anything special.

Mine gave me peace in the morning. Then we shopped for a carpet remnant and laid it, and switched my family and dining rooms out.
Best Mother's Day ever.

DS has ordered a set of vintage mixing bowls for me, and they have not arrived yet. He is very upset about that. DH took me out for breakfast -- I specifically wanted a Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, and that's what he got me! It was a lovely Mother's Day.

DH always works on holidays. Just another day really. Staying home and getting things done was what I needed to do, so that's what my son and I did. However, last night dh did bring home a dinner I wanted and some yummy snacks. I'm waiting on my foot rub.

No, so far my kids really haven't even acknowledged it. DH did at least but not the same since it's also our anniversary and he acknowledged that also.
ETA: My daughter and I talked on the phone and she ended up acknowledging so I'm good there. Surprised my son didn't though. He's usually pretty good about that stuff.

Spent the entire day (and most of yesterday) at a basketball tournament. Almost home where I'll stay up late doing laundry. Yds made me a card and a small "bee-joan-ya" that he planted at school. Dh and ods didn't have time to shop so I forgave them and will buy myself something nice later

My kids got me a great camera bag (I asked for a backpack camera bag for some upcoming trips this summer). Dd spent a lot of time researching the perfect bag for me and hit a home run Dh gave me flowers and chocolate covered strawberries. Dd is making lasagna for dinner and I'm sitting by the pool finishing my second mojito. Life is good!

Breakfast, a Pandora charm, a starbucks mango iced tea lemonade, a trip to JCP ( I had 3 $10 off $10 coupons so I used them on a few summer things for dd), played with my dog outside and now we are watching TV and eating popcorn. Pretty chill day and that's just how I like it!

Mil invited dd and I to a mother daughter breakfast at her church. I knew she needed it especially this year so we went and it was very nice.
I wanted to go to a brunch buffet but dd talked me out of it since the church breakfast was so nice. We picked up the boys and went to PF Chang's. It was the first time I've been. I liked it but it was pricey. My favorite were the jicama tacos with pork. Yum!
The kids did get me cards, which they forgot at my birthday so I was really happy about that. <3 ds17 gave me a 6 pack of Pepsi which he knows I love. Dd wanted to make our own ice cream sandwiches, which dh had that excellent idea last year. But she didn't think of it until today. We may do it another day this week but I told her definitely next year.
We went to a relatively new outlet shopping center near us. It was my first time going. Dd and I each got a pair of shoes and I got some shorts for ds11. We stopped at the Lindt store and got frozen chocolate drinks and the lady gave me an offer I couldn't refuse for chocolate covered strawberries.
Now we are home and ready to relax. All in all a good day. If dh was here we would have gone to church, come home and ordered Chinese. Same as we've done every year. I would have preferred the usual with him but since it had to be different this was a very nice way to spend the day with my kids.

We had a family picnic yesterday. I got to sleep in today & my 6 year old brought me breakfast in bed. Toast & water. Then I sent DH & the children to the store to buy flowers for my mom (she spent the weekend with us). They brought a bouquet home for me too. We planted flowers & puttered around the yard. DH gave me a print from a local artist that I had been wanting. DD made me a card & a snack. The three year old has kept the tantrums to a minimum. haha Overall a pretty great Mother's Day.

I actually received 2 cards from 2 out of 4 of my kids. Last week I told them that could at least buy me a card. Not too much effort there. I received a call from my dd in Seattle and a text from the one in Pittsburgh. I don't ask for much!

I was able to take a long nap. I figured I wouldn't get anything. I had to laugh when I saw famdamly. We use that term also except it's famdamily.

Poor dh is really sick with a bad cold but he still made it a fun weekend. He and the kids went shopping yesterday so I had a few hours home alone which was fun. I spent the time cleaning and organizing the linen closet.
Today, they gave me a new pair of chucks, Twix (my favorite ), cat butt magnets (yep, you read that right), and the sweetest frame with 3 tiny picture holders. Each kid drew a picture of her/himself for the frame. Dd also painted me a funny saying on a canvas. "Put away your laundry or I'll punch you in the face. --love, mom" I saw it on Pinterest a few weeks ago and it made me laugh. I know it's awful but we have a sick sense of humor in my house.
We went to an art fair which has become a Mother's Day tradition. Today was the first day in a week it didn't rain so it was really nice to get out of the house.

DD, DSIL, DH, and I went out for brunch yesterday at a neat little place that is a house made into small dining rooms, so it wasn't crowded and essentially was almost private dining. It was nice because we spent a lot of unrushed time chatting. DD got me a maxi from LuLaRu and a really nice essential oil scent for my diffuser. I slept in late today, ran a couple of errands with DH, and spent the day not working on my business (I was working on preparing for a garage sale on Friday/Saturday but it was nice to step away from my desk for a while)

I had all four of my boys here which is hard to pull off any more with two in the Navy. My mama was here, too. I cooked all the meals as it was a pleasure to treat them to their favorites of mom's home cooking. We did our big meal Saturday night because my husband had to work today and some of the boys had to be on the road before noon. Today was a big brunch with mimosas.
I did get a very nice card with lovely sentiments in it as well as a big topiary tree style hibiscus. It is covered in buds so it should be a prolific bloomer this summer! But best of all, they posed for photos. They pretend to hate it, but I think as they are getting older it's kinda growing on them. LOL!

My family played right into my Harry Potter geekiness and got me a large Tervis tumbler with the Marauder's Map on it, a HP "bobble" head that doesn't bobble. It's got a huge head and a tiny body that doesn't look like it'll support its head, but does. It looks like is should bobble, but it doesn't. Didn't I explain that well? Ha! I also got a GIANT Harry Potter poster coloring book. Can't wait to attack that this summer! I also got a pretty bouquet of flowers and a yummy chocolate cake.

This was a basketball tournament weekend for us. So we spent this morning at a semi-final game watching DS and his team play a team that is ranked 4 divisions above us. We only lost by 10 - so it was an amazing game! DS was injured in the final quarter, his knee is still swollen from going knee on knee with another player. He's on Aleve, and has been alternating ice & heat all afternoon.
The kids got me a pandora charm - the new cupcake one:
DH made dinner - the girls helped. Steak on the bbq, grilled veggies & potatoes, and DD#1 made two pitchers of cocktails from a new book she bought at a use book sale today. Then they ran out and got a key lime pie so we could have dessert.
My Mom had dinner with us - it was nice to have her around for Mother's Day. She has always been an hour away, but since she left the jerk, she lives 5 minutes away. So that was nice!

My husband and daughter searched through the hard drive where I store my photos and printed off dozens and dozens of photos of my daughter and I and made them into a huge collage. It is impressive and I love it. Made me want to make a better effort at taking photos with her. There are so many I had forgotten over the years. And not as many recent ones because we've been slacking off.

We took my mom out to PF Chang's last night and gave her a gift card to a garden store. This morning, I told dh I was going to smother him in his sleep if he didn't stop snoring (second morning in a row he woke me up snoring at 6am.During baseball season we have very few days where we can sleep in and never two in a row!!). Dh and ds gave me very nice cards and went to Costco and another store with me without bitching. We stopped by MILs and gave her a card and a plant from the garden store that she will probably never plant and it will die. Costco had Prime grade NY strips, so we splurged on those. They were amazing, even though we overcooked them a bit.

My dd told me the two of us were going out for an early Mother's Day lunch yesterday. My ds and his wife surprised me by walking in the restaurant! Although they only live an hour away, ds is working and going to college for his masters, dil is a pharmacist and dd is a nurse - both work in hospitals with evening and weekend shifts. We don't get together as often as I'd like. My heart was so full! Here's a picture of the three of them. Dil, ds and dd. (I apologize in advance for the huge photo. Tried resizing it several times.)

My guys spoiled me properly. I received new pajamas, some Fiesta bamboo kitchen tools, and the shoes below. My 5 year old made me a cup of coffee and was so excited that he delivered it to me in the shower (My sister in law called the shower coffee the straight laced cousin of the shower beer.) My 16 year old made all of us S'mores cinnamon rolls. Then, this afternoon, my 16 year old joined me for a 3 hour work shift at the children's consignment sale I get rid of items at twice a year. He volunteered to come along and worked hard the whole time. All the other moms there fawned all over him for being such a good kid. He didn't seem to hate that. Attachments:

My fandam was pretty excellent. The kids had a field trip with school yesterday so DH took me to my favorite nursery and we bought lots of flowers. The nursery was having a party with lunch and a band and a winery so it was even better than expected! Then we went for a bike ride and had a picnic. Today I went to the fleatique and found a few treasures and then the kids had a recital. We collaborated on a steak dinner and they had an official Mother's Day ceremony where they gave me a certificate for a recording of them singing a song of my choice and Harry Potter and scrapbooking beads for my Pandora bracelet. Now I'm sipping tropical sangria and playing Bubble Witch feeling pretty darn content even though the kids also gifted me with the cold they've both had for the last week.
