Have you had an awesome cake recently? What's your favourite kind?
I distinguish between plain cake and fancy cake. Plain cake: one layer, with icing. Fancy cake... layers with different filling combos and fancy, pretty icing or decorations.
I need to make cake for a get-together this weekend.

I am not a cake person but my favorite is from a specialty bakery that makes a Mango cake that is to die for. The icing is very light but decadent. Love it!

Sillypea, that sounds like a lovely cake!
Grompea, I do like a bundt cake. Was just looking at some of my Pinned bundt recipes!

My favorite is a Scandinavian Almond Cake. It's a simple butter pound cake with almond extract in it and I love it so much I can eat a whole one

Kathy, that cake sounds wonderful. I love a big fluffy cake, but those simple cakes are just so fabulous. Emily, we call that cake Really Good Cake!

I made a delicious cake this week! It was a doctored cake mix recipe, white cake with pistachio pudding mix and club soda added, baked in a bundt pan and frosted with a cool whip/pistachio pudding mix combo. DH LOVES pistachio things, and he thought this was one of the best cakes I have ever made. www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/pistachio-cake-with-walnuts Let's see if this link works. Ooh, it does work. I'm so proud of myself! I could never make a link on two peas.

I am going through a pound cake phase, probably because you don't have to ice it and it is good with cut up berries and whip cream-perfect for a hot summer day. I have made this one several times and it is so easy it will shock you. You put all the ingredients in at one time and mix. That's it. It is absolutely delicious. Easy Pound CakeOne hint though, I take mine out about 10 minutes earlier than the recipe calls for. If I leave it in for the whole time, it tends to be a tad dry. I have a great chocolate cake recipe too if you want it.

I had to make a treat for hubbys lodge night so I baked a choc. cake that I added Nestlé's choc. chips to. It was a huge hit one guy even insisted DH bring compliments home to me in regard to it; so fast forward months later when he needed a dessert again I did the same they loved it I did make a homemade whipped choc. light frosting too. The second time I used my Baby Cakes standard size cupcake maker, bakes 12 cupcakes in 5-7 minutes. I love it so much. Got it at Kohl's..............

Pioneer woman has a Texas sheet cake that is outstanding for large groups. I've even layered it with chocolate frosting.

My favorite is butter cake with fudgy chocolate frosting. And somehow, it tastes better when it's in 2 layers.

I love a great cake. Something about a homemade cake is just so special to me. It isn't fancy per say but cake says to me that someone spent time and put some love in a homemade creation. My favorite is a 8 or 9 inch layered cake. I loved the cake you made recently for your daughter. I was beautiful! What a fun memory and way to celebrate her milestone. In my perfect world I would eat cake many times a week and make a couple a week. Maybe someday! I want to improve in my cake making skills and I really want to learn how to make better cut out cookies. My sons love cut out sugar cookies more than anything else. The 2 favorite cakes I make are the Souther Living Strawberry cake and Kevin and Amanda's chocolate cake with white frosting. My dh loves that one!!!!

I love a chocolate kahlua cake!! I'm not even a huge chocolate fan either. I also love a good cake with a fun filling...I had some strawberry and chocolate ganache filling and it was to-die-for good! If I had to order myself a cake I'd probably go with a spice cake with a light vanilla icing. I just love me some spice cake.
I am picking up a Paramedic decorated red velvet cake in just a little while. I'm sure it will be fabulous!
Is there even such a thing as "bad cake?" I guess if you go to cakewrecks.com you'll find some.

link Kit Kat Cake
I made this for my daughter's 12th birthday in May. It's sweet, sweet, sweet, obviously, but it's pretty easy to put together and looks great. I do love sheet cakes for gatherings, though. I usually do a Coca Cola cake or a caramel cake. ETA---damn. I could do links at Two Peas. Anyhoo, if you Google "Kit Kat Cake" you'll see it.

I love cake. My favorite cakes to make are coconut cake (one layer white sheet cake soaked in Coco Lopez and topped with Cool Whip and Angel Flake coconut -- mmmmm!), Apricot Nectar Cake, and egg nog cake (Christmas only). My favorite cakes to buy are mini cupcakes from Magpie's in Knoxville. Lemon raspberry, mango, mocha, lemon -- anything from Magpie's is divine.

So many good ideas here! I woke up with the cold the kids have all had for the past week, so not sure there will be any fancy cake-making going on today. Maybe I will medicate and take a nap and see how things go this afternoon.

When it's hot, I love a refrigerated cake. My recent fave has been a white cake with lemon curd filling, and lemon-flavored whipped cream "frosting."
