Fruit!! I went to the Natural Grocer organic store today and the lady 2 people in front of me was buying this: 4 bags full of pears with about 10 or 12 pears in each bag About 20 bunches of bananas, so probably close to 100 bananas One bag full of carrots bunches And 3 bags crammed full of lemons, probably 50 total
That's it! Nothing else.
I thought maybe she was canning, but the organic store is seriously expensive and all that fruit would cost an arm and a leg. Dd1 said she is making pies, dd2 thought maybe she just loves pears and dh said maybe she is on a weird diet!!
What do you all think? And really, this was just in good fun. I just found the purchase really random.

She could be making baby food... perhaps the lemons are to keep the bananas from turning brown?
Or maybe baby food and lemon meringue pies!

I wonder if she is using them with a juicer.

My first thought was juicer, too.

I wonder if she is using them with a juicer. I wondered that but dang it would be expensive! The fruit there is pricey so I bet she spent upwards of $200 on it. I think the lemons themselves are $1 each.

My first thought is juicing it. It takes a lot of fruit & veggies to make relatively little juice. It's actually the reason I gave up juicing. It took way too much fruit & veggies.

Ok.... I'm going to guess that she is a gourmet caterer for a very lahtedah affair and just needed a "few" things from the grocer.

I'm going to guess she is either a caterer, or prepping food for a large group and this was the stuff that needed to wait for the "last" minute to be purchased so it would still be fresh. Fresh lemons for a home made lemonade, pears/carrots for a side dish www.google.com/search?q=pears+and+carrots&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 with a banana pudding for dessert. eta: with this being graduation season lots of people are making meals for 30-80 people.

::alternate pea thread:: "A PEA WWYD? So there I was, at natural grocer buying my weekly organic fruits and vegetables for juicing. This lady and her family behind me kept looking at what I had in my cart, and I'm pretty sure I even got her counting how many bags of pears I had! Would you have said something to her? I thought about telling her that if she was so interested she could sure pay for my groceries, but I was tired after a long day and picking out all of the vegetables and fruit I needed." I'm just kidding, I would have noticed that as well. I think she is having jaw surgery, and has to have liquid meals for 2 weeks, so she was just stocking up.

My guess is getting ready for some big party or gathering, or maybe feeding snacks to kids' sports teams during an all day tournament.

I think a caterer or having a party. This is actually one of my favorite past times at Sam's, guessing why people are buying massive quantities of one thing. I'm sure it is mostly small business owners but it is more fun to think they are buying all that peanut oil and gatorade for a swingers party.

My vote is that she's either a caterer or (pastry) chef. I don't think she's juicing because you wouldn't juice bananas.

My first thought was making baby food and freezing it. My 2nd though was its graduation season so maybe her and another are combining parties and each is responsible for buying certain items. That is what my sister and I did with my DS and my nephew. She was in charge of making certain things I was in charge of making certain things and then together we bought the random other stuff you saw at grad parties. But I also used to make my babies food so mixing avocado and banana was a meal and pureeing carrots, broccoli and other fresh washed fruits was cheaper than a jar of baby food. Many sceneries. Lol. Maybe someone just really loved banana pudding for dessert.

Middle school math teacher, buying supplies for tomorrow's word problems. "Mary needed to make 19 loaves of banana bread. If each batch uses 3 bananas at 29 cents each, how much will she pay for her bananas?"

Making daiquiris, lemon drops, and...struggling to come up with a drink that uses either pears or carrots.

I get that this time of year - I'm in charge of food for a Girl Scout twilight camp, and usually I am buying multiple boxes of vanilla wafers, cheez-its, and goldfish. I think most people think I run a daycare or something. lol I think the lady in question here was probably making something for a group.

Reminds me once I was at IKEA and a lady had a huge cart of those tea candles.. I think there is like 36 in a pack. She must have had a couple hundred packs of them. My friend who was with me just went up and asked her.. she started laughing and said yeah it looks crazy. She take them to somewhere in Arizona to a church and donates them. I can't remember what religion.. something maybe to do with Indians or Buddhists or a temple? But yeah, she just asked... LOL

Lol hopefully she wasn't trying to stock up and freeze food for later like one pea said she did with cotton candy grapes! My guess was juicing. I've had people ask jokingly where the party was after I bought ice cream and hot dogs and had to reply that my family just loves ice cream and hot dogs, lol.
